because going to college in the shadow of a castle is totally normal
@Khaibit : That's what you get for being in Ashtan. Your frikkin' COLLEGE puts up a castle in case @Dunn raids your professor for giving you an A- instead of an A. It's all your fault, all of it!
Was advised to find something fun I used to do as a way of motivating me to do it more often, in efforts to help regain certain motor skills. Took a while to get back into the hang of it, but it's coming back surely enough. Broke two tips tonight though. Good thing I have spares.
This is an Australian Stormbird. I hear them all the time around my house and they have the most enchanting birdsong that you generally only hear right before or after a storm. Despite living where I now live for 18 years, I have never seen one before until just a few days ago when I thought a Kite was trying to make an easy meal of my Turkey chicks.
The males have the most glorious black plumage with crimson eyes - it's the inspiration behind Kyrra's deathsight as the Storm Maiden. This here is a female though, and I just have no words to express how lovely or graceful they are to observe. I've never been one much for bird watching, but I can easily spend a few hours just marvelling at how beautiful they are.
(D.M.A.): Cooper says, "Kyrra is either the most innocent person in the world, or the girl who uses the most innuendo seemingly unintentionally but really on purpose."
Close! but I'm pretty sure that is a pheasant. Male stormbirds are jet black and the females are similar to the picture... but there is a white stripe running across their faces starting at the corner of the beak. Also, this picture is from a blog post back in 2015. Edit: Whoops January... Of course it's still 2015.

She didn't say it was a picture she had taken of the one she saw; seems it was just meant to be an image to illustrate what she was talking about. Most pictures I've found of female stormbirds show them with a white underbelly, like this:
and the beak looks different, so probably not a stormbird. It does indeed look like it could be a pheasant coucal:
Notably, though, the pheasant coucal is not a pheasant, but a species of cuckoo, like the stormbird. So not too far off.
Uh, sorry they are big but I got my hair dyed and because it doesn't hold colour well I always get a lot of red in it. Looks like a strawberry in the sun though.
@Borivoj Thank you! She's almost two-years old, just adopted her from Animal Friends (shelter) last week. She's a diva 100% full of tortitude. My other furriness (I have 3 now OMG! Cat lady alert) is a calico and white tortie. My phone is dead so I'll have to wait to post photos of them!

Please do post them when you're able to. I love torties (and yes, all cats in general, but especially chocolate torties). It's pretty much the one and only reason I have Instagram.

well, i don't have any chocolate torties, but i do have a rather precious himalayan pair
okay, this is atticus, my blue point male. he always looks grumpy because he's got more persian in him than siamese. sometimes his tongue sticks out and amplifies the effect lmao.
this is ansleigh, my female seal point. she's got more siamese in her than persian, as evidenced by her brilliant blue eyes and easier-to-manage fur. she's a total snob.
and i figure while i'm at it i might as well show you the rest of my fur babies!! brace yourself
this is kizzy, our peekapoo. we kept her from one of brylee's litters [we breed "designer" dogs; hypoallergenic, etc.] because she just has such a lovable temperament.
this is casper, my sister's dog. he's .. seven months old now, i believe and a purebred pekingese. also an absolute shithead and piranha. this was when he was younger and playing with our stray cat, princess. i managed to take it just seconds before princess decided she had enough and smacked casper down the hill lmao. this is cocoa, our 4yr/old australian shepherd. she was originally a foster dog, but we ended up falling in love with her and keeping her for ourselves, haha. in this photo you can see how smug she is with her own witty idea of using a two-by-four as a makeshift chew stick.
okay, this is chestnut, my youngest fur baby. he's an australian
shepherd and showed up on our porch in a neighbor's arms on the week
before christmas. poor thing was eat up with worms. we nursed him back
to health though and now he's my constant companion. THIS WAS ON MY BIRTHDAY.
here's another one of him, because i have so many.
okay, i think that's all my furbabies i have pics of there's also malley, mika, jada, pebbles, baxter, rookie, brylee, and bae-lin.
(According to the shelter, his name was Goodman. He and I discussed things, and have agreed that Thud will be his interim name until he tells me his real one.)
I'm quite enjoying all of the cat and dog pictures! Now, this picture doesn't do her justice because I'm terrible with a camera, but this is my Sophie. And @Taraus, I think that was the push I needed to adopt another cat.
This is Pebble. He was left in a box by a dumpster with several other kittens. Now he lives at my house and tries to keep me from doing anything in Achaea.
@Kasya, he looks like a Burmese and reminds me of my first cat Quincey. He was a blue Burmese and oh so lovely.

The grand canyon with my boyfriend. I lived in Arizona for 27 years and never visited.
Shucks.

It really isn't that bad in shadow.
I'm fond of the masked and silent psychotic types, apparently?

EDIT: Now that I figured this out again.
I went down to the store for lightbulbs.
