I used to like to BBQ baby octopus in front of my dad and grandfather who were both strictly "steak, chips and peas" men. It was worth it just for the looks on their faces :awesome:
They would say I'm eating "unclean" things again.

Cooked occy I can handle, raw salmon or tuna is fine. I'm not sure I could handle raw occy though. You're very adventurous, Ruth.

As I've mentioned before, but feel the need to preface this picture with now, I work with adults with developmental disabilities. The week of Halloween is always Spirit Week, kind of like Homecoming Week usually is for high schools. We have different dress up days and the administrative staff usually goes all out because the clients get a kick out of it. Today is mismatch day so here is a picture of me (with glasses) and the HR Director in our standard requisite work twinsies picture. I had to beg a non-dressed up co-worker to go pick up my lunch for me because I'm not leaving the building like this today...

So, while on the way home this afternoon, I found this little fellow. In as far as I can tell, it's not a particularly rare bird, zebra doves (I believe it is one) are a common sighting in pairs around the neighbourhood.

It's not exactly a baby, but not an adult either. More like a teenager. Looks like it fell out of the tree by the curb. It didn't look hurt, just scared and rattled, and could still run around quite quickly and impotently flap its wings, as I discovered when I tried to pick it up at first. Eventually I managed to herd it into a little plastic bag to carry around for safety.

Anyway, I couldn't find the nest and the tree was too thin for a grown person to attempt climbing. Can't really take care of a bird either, because I have a bastard cat at home and not enough free time or knowledge, so I put it in a shoebox and stuck the box as high and close to the tree as possible.

Future's looking pretty bleak though. Considering one has to hope its parents don't abandon it, or the dozens of strays in the neighbourhood didn't get to it or the owners of the house that I found it in front of don't chuck it and the box in the bin (some people are assholes like that).

The Japanese haven't met a food they won't eat raw. I've even been fed raw chicken there. Not nice.

The staff costume contest is usually pretty cutthroat. The Human Resources Director are work twins and we go head to head every year and usually take 1st and 2nd without a problem. I felt like had a really good chance at taking 1st this year with my costume (and because our auxiliary who votes loves me), but she was also out sick this year. First place, bitches! (For those of you who are babies in age and don't know who I am, I'm Carmen Sandiego from the once popular "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?")
