* It is now not possible to secure a perimeter in a location with an active tower fortification belonging to another org. Towers are considered active if they are completely built and not being sabotaged.
So as expected, just lost a battle because Gerzson's Faction had towers in every other room. I understand the need to make towers more relevant, considering I advocated it, but it's a bit silly when you see how long it takes to destroy towers, especially when you're trying to race against people who can capture unopposed. You could, theoretically, raise temporary towers to do the same to the opponent, but they degrade over time and would turn it into a goldsink war where the attacker has a major disadvantage.
We likely still would've lost all things considered, considering we only had two people in our faction (which is why we had help), but it's a very annoying mechanic to fight against and gives defenders an enormous advantage, to the extent that I don't think is warranted considering they are given fair warning in advance of an attack now. Even with more people to sabotage and demolish a tower (meaning two people per tower) you'd still proceed at a snail's pace and encourages hitting other sides when they have nobody to defend even more so than now.
I do understand it's a brand new system and needs tweaking, and I'm loving the event as a whole and having fun with it. Just my two cents!
Mmmmmm, could do towers like shrines? Can't be within 4 rooms of another? Or just put a hard limit on towers? Seems like it went from very attacker-sided to very defender-sided, and I feel like attacker-side makes people feel like they're accomplishing and makes things move back and forth, whereas heavily defender-sided discourages participation as people don't want to lose their investment or waste time whenow it's nigh-impossible to win.
Id like to see capturing on fortifications be possible, but take longer, and have fortifications be more actively impactful (more damage/faster tick/etc). Balance it out like city/shrine warfare?
Granted, upkeep of such fortifications wouldn't be feasible over long periods of time, in the case that this is used again further down the line, but for such a short event I think the aggressive back and forth is a good thing.

Actually, there have only been a very small group of failed attacks, thus far. Ashtan, Hashan, and Targ have never failed an assault, I think. Most of that's because of people attacking in quiet hours (and that goes for pretty much everyone), but it still seems like successful defensive fights are very, very rare.

I think Hashan had two successful defences early on in Lupar, before all of the defence changes, could be wrong though.

Yeah, that's the handful I'm referring to. Ashtan has had one, Hashan two, Eleusis one, if my count is correct. Three of those being before the defense changes.
So the total number of successful assaults vs. successful defenses is something like 48 to 4. (I had to estimate Bella's numbers, but it should be close to that).
@Epifania Not at my mudlet right now, but I think you just need to copy the lines you want to gag, put them in a new trigger, and put deleteFull() as the function that gets triggered.
Hashan is seemingly helping Ashtan win or at least get closer to winning, for strange unknown reasons. That's all I've gleaned so far.
We'll see if it makes them actually lose or not.
No. I very much doubt that, otherwise punishments will be dealt out!
Went like this : We planted a beacon on Ashtans turf. Summoned our troops. Ashtan, Hashan and Mhaldor all showed up. We got dead. Very dead. Like super super dead.

Complaints I've heard, the veracity of which may or may not be high:
- Some factions can use beacon stones they steal off of other people and other factions can't. - Some factions are awarded points for successful defense and some aren't. - The rules for point allotment keep changing, with defense points getting removed and then counted.
At the time, Hashan's goal was just to prevent literally anyone from getting more points, because they'd been under the impression that there were no points for winning on defense (an impression given because they'd had their defense points removed the day before). They were going against Ashtan pretty hard too, they were just going against anyone assaulting.
Also, there -really- needs to be a separate warning when troops are actually on the battlefield and can be summoned. In this last fight, I spent several minutes waiting for the fight to start to call troops in defense, and the only message you get until they actually have troops on the battlefield is "there is no battle going on at present." After a while, I started to wonder if there was even an attack still going on, or if they'd picked up their beacon stone, or what, and I had no way to tell (the beacon was behind their defense line, so I couldn't glance and see it or anything. I died soon after, so I can't tell what the timing was for sure, but the time delay between the last "there is no battle here" and us losing the point was five minutes, and our army made the wrong call about where to defend in large part because we didn't know when we -could- defend, and there being such a small delay to realize, get in, and actually play defense.
Just giving a second warning that the assault has begun would be hugely helpful in knowing how and where to respond.

Awesome event. Thanks for all the battles everybody. Was so weird to fight side by side with @Proficy. But also quite fun. Very nice ally to have.
Also, well done to Hashan for winning this. I'll admit that I did not expect it. But you fought and got beaten, but you kept coming back. That's what takes the most effort. Its easy to fight when you're winning. But when you're losing its very hard. You deserve this victory more then anyone else. Don't listen to the haters!

ETA: bolding the line, so it's easier to see.

Fuck, who's helping Eleusis?
I don't feel like fixing my phones capspasm either.
And one of those Cyrenians is me, so maybe as detrimental as they are helpful.

Showed up in alliance and defended Ashtan so that Ashtan could freely save its area, resulting in Ashtan getting free points*
To be precise. Only time will tell if it makes the difference, but it was a weird strategic move since Ashtan was ahead of Targ.
At this point though, it looks like Ashtan is going to win by so much that it doesn't matter. It was more annoying at the time.
