Is this class Targossas-friendly? Kinda seems a bit iffy
From what I can tell, the darkness that the class uses doesn't originate from Darkness(tm), so it should be ok. Darkness and darkness are not the same things.
That said, the verdict is not yet in, so who knows! I do know that Targ will lose a significant portion of its combatants if we are told we can't have it though lol.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

Yeah I was thinking more along the thematic lines rather than Darkness/darkness prohibition. It's very lawful evil flavoured

Absolutely. The Depthswalkers have historically not been nice people.
That said, Targossians don't need to be nice either. You can probably safely infer (given its the Tsol'teth) that none of their powers came from any kind of religious figure.
Necromancy isn't really evil per se, and definitely not Evil, but apostasy definitely is. We sort of handwave Necromancy as being Evil. Occultism is definitely Chaotic, no way around that, same with Domination. Sylvan, Druid, and Sentinel are definitively Nature (Sentinel a little less so these days). Devotion is definitely Good, hard to get around that.
The big problem with Depthswalkers is that while they have a shadow skill ability, to be honest it doesn't have much to do with Darkness. They feel like Hashan's factional class, but there's not much lore reason they should be.
That said, I'm just a liiittle miffed that they aren't. At least, that it won't be banned from certain cities (mainly Targossas), so at least it feels at least a little factional for Hashan. Hashan has always been the red-headed stepchild of the factional cities. Cyrene doesn't get involved in intercity conflicts, so they don't care much. But when you have four other cities that actively raid you, and all of them have super special classes with super special and usually unique powers while you have the standard set of classes? This problem became worse when Necromancy was recalled to Mhaldor, Nature classes were made unavailable to cities, and Ashtan decided to go on a power trip with Occies (basically, we've been threatened within an inch of our lives about how we use Karma against Ashtan, and that's before we get into Hirst). So, Hashan's been shit out of luck. Now we have this fancy new class that levels the playing field in a lot of ways, except, everyone gets it too? Even those cities that already have their super special classes?
Yeah, I'm a little salty Hashan, despite being in the same situation as Mhaldor, Ashtan, Eleusis, and Targossas from an inter-city standpoint, still doesn't have a unique class. But I'm having too much fun with Depthswalker right now, and I can understand why admin don't want more factional classes, so we'll just accept it and move on.
My biggest complaint so far is that, with nightsight up, you have no way to know whether or not a room is dark without trying to enshroud or use some ability that requires it. There could at least be a line in the room desc (like weather, or old magical darkness) or have the darkness show up on IH.

If Hashan is going to be a belligerent faction like the other four and not neutral-ish like it used to be, then it should have cool exclusive stuff like the others do. In the grand order of things, getting Hashan a factional class rates about a 3 on a priority scale of 1-10, but given the flavor of the Tsol'teth shadow magic I thought this was it.
AB TERMINUS would be a lot easier to deal with if it was organised more like AB WEAPONMASTERY, with the trees in one section then the various abilities from each tree in other sections. For those unfamiliar, here's what AB WEAPONMASTERY looks like:
General Abilities: Swordplay Increased mastery of the shortsword. Specialise Gain proficiency in one of the schools of weaponry. Envenom Coat a weapon in venoms. Arc Swing your blade in a controlled arc.
Dual Cutting Specialisation: Predict Predict when your blows will damage their limbs. Raze Attack the defences that would keep your weapons out. Duality The ability to wield and use two weapons simultaneously. Lunge A deep, piercing blow from an adjacent location. Impale Sink your blade into an opponent. Razeslash First penetrate his defences, then give him the sharp end. Cleave Rend your opponent's body in two. Mastery Through intense concentration, increase your blade mastery. Concuss Rattle skulls with a brutal blow. Intimidate Make them fear for their life. Disembowel Tear the entrails from a target. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To gain further information on an ability, AB <ability>.
To be fair, Hashan had their chance with Shaman, it even had the whole Twilight Darkness inception and went through a roleplay reboot with spiritlore.
i love the class to bits but would've understood if it'd been taken in that direction. Instead there was a constant fight to disassociate the class from its roots so that in the end, even Shallam/Targossas opted to stop banning it.

Depthswalker is looking fairly intricate at the moment which is lovely, it's going to consume a lot of theory hours just pouring over kill paths which is exciting. But damn it @Makarios, why you gotta keep implementing commitment mechanics ie. Terminus. Le sigh.
I think it's supposed to be concealed, since they are words of power, and one cannot retain knowledge of more than 10 at a time. Hence the line "Knowing is half the battle." at the end of the HELP TERMINUS flavour text.

Since deathswalkers can have more than one tree at a time, I'd actually think it'd be better to keep it as it is, but under each tree, assuming you have any in that tree, indent the abilities a few spaces over to be able to be seen more easily. That way it still is easier on the eyes, but doesn't clog up by sectioning off whole new spaces of lists for each and every tree you have researched.
So as an example, my current terminus tree could look like the following:
To gain further information on an ability, AB <ability>.
... Or something similar and evenish, that's kind of a quick hack job to demonstrate.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
@Nicola@Makarios Can we get a new Individual Class Section for Depthswalker to allow people to make their own threads to discuss individual topics in regards to this new class.
Also, I apologize for ever doubting you. I love the new class! Shadow magic AND Time Magic?! You're mad!

Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
