    Huh. Neat.
  • Vacation or not, the depletion of lodes due to abusive mining seemed to be a part of the plan. @Sarapis himself said that even if all iron lodes were mined out, new ones might not respawn until the general stock of available rifted/shop iron worldwide dipped under certain figures or something like that.

So let's just say we strip mined Sapience and have to take a break.

My takeaway from the comments were more that the lode generation should roughly match the output of village shops before the introduction of mining. Things like iron and coal, of course, were adjusted. Still, the production rate for things like gems, silver, gold, and even bone were fairly low before mining. Iron, coal, and stone, on the other hand, will likely have lodes pop up fairly frequently.
  • Brand new large coal lode. Throw a large mine on it, it depletes 1hr later and 3 coal are transferred to my inventory. What the literal F.

Are you sure it was a new lode? I've seen a few at 90% and a few at 100%.

@Tecton plz. :frown: My God, why have You forsaken me.
I was busy in vegas... didn't you see the news? That casino was no match for a Tecton-sized holobomb!

Yeah I saw that on the news, was quietly wondering if it was the IRE party that had gone out of control!
  • - So do squads get some free experience per month? Since I'm guessing there's no way to level up and attack mines otherwise? I think the whole 'level 1 attacking sux' thing needs removed. Make it a +1 defender instead.

    - Does the Delos bank work for paying my stuff? Cause it doesn't seem to show up on BANKACCOUNTS, and is the only bank I feel I can keep my gold in.

    - Need a HELP LODES file to explain the approximate size of a load in comms, so we have some clue about the potential gain. I imagine in the short term it would exceed the cost of wood/iron needed to build the mine in the first place and greatly exceed it in the long term?

-Squads only obtain experience by standing in a mine and defending miners. They do not get gradual experience or gain experience when attacking a mine.
-Delos bank does show up on accounts and can be used to pay for mines. It's what I have been using.
-I imagine you'll find out lode sizes as you play. As it was said -repeatedly- at the meet. Mining is a long game system. You'll be hard pressed to turn a profit if you're looking for instant gratification. If you are looking for instant gratification I suggest bashing or fishing.

I Just got back a wedding tonight, a few of my friends were staying on the upper floors of the Cosmopolitan last night and had to walk down 56 flights of stair.  They are hardcore though and still made the wedding in Orange County.

As stated by @Sarapis, the only way to get your squads to the point where you can attack another mine (e.g. level 2) is to take on some risk in the mining system (set up a mine and deploy soldiers). Why does the whole "level 1 attacking sux" thing need to be removed, or addressed? If it was, someone with a lot of gold could simply buy a whole bunch of soldiers and attack mines continually until they won. That doesn't really incentivize them to take any the risk of operating any mines.

HELP 24.1 (HELP MINING) already states the approximate range you can expect. "When you find a lode, it will be of small, medium large, or huge sizes, which correspond to how many raw comms can be extracted before that lode is emptied. Lode sizes range from 1500-6000." I've found the latter end can be higher, especially with certain comms. As for potential gains, well, the cost of wood/iron plus the cost of deploying legions plus the cost of wages and maintenance may result in a loss, depending on what is being mined.

No, because then it becomes 'who can buy the most squads to throw at people'.

  • Question: does a mine's size limit the number of attackers that can be used to assault it?

    Yes. 60 for a small mine, 200 for medium, 480 for large/stronghold
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!"
Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh."
Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."

believe this happens when someone intentionally abandons a mine. The mine collapses, but the sign does not seem to disappear.

I'd still like clarification on how attacking a mine works. If you attack with max squads, do all squads attack a room simultaneously (so in a large mine, 24 squads vs 3, per room)? I've been getting mixed answers to this question, and it's answer is fairly important to how people may wish to organize their legions/mines.

@Inuad ordinarily yeah but that room isn't mineable. It's a freshwater env

Whoops, missed that part. What does the room survey as? Maybe some part water shenanigans happened?

I score low on reading comprehension. Ignore me.
  • @Inuad : We still love you though <3
  • 7/27/17:53 1 a cube of qwindorium and 1368 coal was transferred from your mine to your inventory.
This was after the local stronghold took a 5% tithe of 72 coal.

Can we have the location of the mine included...so we can easily record/track back the production of the particular mine. Now it's like I will forget after a while where this comes from..TQ~

Trying to figure out if the limit on # of squads per room is a convenience thing or if there's some other implication.

If the army attacking a mine doesn't have a limit on squads per room, then this means it's no longer so heavily weighted in favour of the attacker (by having their full army going against a max of 3 squads at a time).
  • SkyeSkye The Duchess Bellatere
    ohhhhh ok. thanks!

  • @Sena is correct.

To give credit where credit is due though, this was a genuine oversight in the design I did for this that @Kez pointed out to me privately.
  • And @Sarapis reacted to with breakneck speed.
  • @Sarapis: New idea - why not make the gold drains Achaea-monthly instead of Achaea-daily, and scale the costs to match?
