@Jonathin : Having been through the same thing a couple of years ago, I doff my hat to you for hanging in there with us, and with your close ones. We're happy to have you here
EDIT: Also, think of it this way (though I am sure you did, if you are through it now):
You might be a healthy, strong young man. But in cases like these, brawn might not be the proper solution. The true strength shows when you walk out of there, and manage to look at yourself in the mirror and say: "I was the better man, and I am undiminished by this."
Just came down off Vesuvius, nbd. It's sunny, dusty and hot and I'm glad I'm getting to spend time with my family, shouting matches notwithstanding.
Currently on shaky phone connection, in the car driving past neapolitan maniacs (I'm in the passenger seat) so just wanted to send my well wishes to everyone in case I don't make it back.

You're Italian, aren't shouting matches the equivalent of family bonding and displays of love?

As a fellow Italian, this is correct. Also, the way you know your nonna (grandmother) loves you is if she threatens to continue feeding you because "you too skinny!" while brandishing a giant wooden spoon in a very threatening manner.
As for my rave, I got my first catalog drop yesterday. Then I got a little sad at how excited I got over the catalogs. And then happy again because now I can sit with my cup of tea and breakfast on sunday morning and flick through them!
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my hounds!
Krenim: Hounds? How cliche.

This has honestly been one of the more interesting years of my adult life (I'm 25). It started out with a bunch of medical issues that I finally decided to address once it resulted in two ER trips in February. Now that I'm getting on top of all of it, things are really looking up, and I have surgery in less than 2 weeks. If you have the ability to get it fixed, no point in suffering through it and ignoring it. All that aside, I've been doing a lot of soul searching, learning more about who I am as an individual, and what I really want out of the rest of my life. Having had a very rocky relationship with my mom growing up, our relationship is now better than ever after my recent 3 week vacation to the East coast to visit her and some other family. Not only that, but I am working a lot on self-confidence. I can really say things are starting to be tons better, and I am the happiest I've been in a very long time. What started out as a miserable and unhappy year has totally turned around and become more amazing than I could have anticipated. I'm really excited where things might got next, and I'm either considering a move and going to college for early childhood education, or I may stay here and do something else. Not entirely sure yet, but it's great having options and things to be excited about.
Received a letter from my old University. They wish to present my dossier to the Governor General for the Academic Merit Awards. I have no idea why, of all the current students and previous years graduates, they are presenting me.
Someone sparked something creative again. Most of you already know I write, but I may start designing and drawing again too. The startup for this is going to be so incredibly painful, and getting the software I need for some of it will be such a pain in the ass. Let's hope it's worth it this time. Got pretty burnt out the last time I did all this. But, I might share some stuff if I get going again!
Just drove through the night and arrived in Vegas for DEF CON! Tired as hell, get 3 hours sleep until first presentation tomorrow (this) morning. Will take/post pictures soon (in pictures thread).
A brand new Sailor Moon series. The little girl in me is squeeing so hard right now. (It's fantastic, if you don't mind watching subtitles. Crunchyroll.com has it.)
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that [everlasting] life for which you are looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death, but life they retained in their own keeping. As for you, Gilgamesh, fill your belly with good things; day and night, night and day, dance and be merry, feast and rejoice. Let your clothes be fresh, bathe yourself in water, cherish the little child that holds your hand, and make your wife happy in your embrace; for this too is the lot of man."

Definitely don't regret this tea I got while on transit in Tokyo-Narita airport last month. This roasted green tea, when steeped properly, tastes so goooooooooooood. Can't stop drinking it.
"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"
@Ruth@Kholm@Hasar@Kinilan@Emtor for playing sins of a solar empire last night and letting me win because more than half of them didn't know that they would lose if they lost their flagship and then sending them in headfirst in every battle.

Man, even when I don't play Achaea I still get hit with that Naga backstab.
My health is still questionable enough that I will have to be wheelchair bound through most of Gencon on doctors orders.
Well I had already planned on doing Cosplay for Donna noble. With friends also playing Dr Who parts.
Figured out a few replacements like Barbra Gordon, and my friends went and retrieved boxes and are painting themselves to look like the computer.
Finished a whole series of paintings, and a few random ones while I'm sequestered to my basement from visiting family. It feels so food to have ideas and inspiration flowing around inside my head.
My deviant art page has never seen so much attention.
So, my Skullcandy headset that I got last year... the usb adapter on it broke randomly and I emailed their customer support to see about buying another adapter and such... they're mailing me one for free.
Nothing but good reviews from me for them. I suggest them for anyone looking for a new headset - or even just headphones.
I love my skullcandies. Bought some of the cheapest ones ($20-$30) and they've lasted me a good while (over a year now pretty sure), and I'm a particularly bad abuser of stuff. One day I'll upgrade to even better ones, but for now these have been amazing.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
Worked as a volunteer for the 2nd day of Boston Comic Con, going back tomorrow. It was -absolutely- nuts and a bit dangerous at times (there were way more people than they expected..especially for a Torchwood panel? Almost got mobbed, wtf is Torchwood anyways my god.), but it was ridiculously fun, and can't wait for tomorrow.
Torchwood is an offshoot of Doctor Who - thus why it has a massive fan base as well.

It is 4.30 pm on a Monday afternoon, it's going to rain soon so it's nice and cool, I've finished my articles and am half-dreaming, listening to some mellow music at work while pretending to research stuff and really looking up potential next vacation areas. Also I have mooncakes given by some hotel.
I'm sure I've more or less jinxed myself and work will flood in later or tomorrow, but for the moment I am quite content.

Rewatching the Bird Cage after hubby and I were reminiscing over Robin Williams' movies. Full of genius.

I put on Hook yesterday and today, and Jumanji today for the kids. I've been watching Dead Poets Society (it makes me calm instead of cry and I don't really know why!) and saw Good Will Hunting and World's Greatest Dad for the first time (former was amazing, latter was... interesting) I don't look forward to watching Aladdin or Patch Adams. I'm thinking Happy Feet is next.
Edit: Also been listening to his standup because it was always amazing.

Day out with hubs. In N Out, Guardians of the Galaxy and homework in peace.
The after-credits scene... OMG. I am so happy about it, but it's so trolly!
Now this song is stuck in my head though

And it's awesome
Was. Until they killed off most of the cast and re-set it in the US
Finally pulling together plans to travel all around USA! Got some preliminary dates set for visiting people and the startings of a budget!

On my way to Gencon. *girly squeal* Gencon!
Since starting my diet about a month ago and exercising, I've lost about 10-15 pounds. Going good so far
