@Aelios That would be pretty worthless in Achaea, because combat is generally balanced around having all your class skills. Some classes are practically helpless without their trans abilities, and most are at least crippled by the loss. And that's just the final ability in each skill, losing 20% would be a lot worse.
The way multiclass works in other IRE games is you have to "unlearn" and "remember" your multiclass skills at a denizen tutor. The whole process only takes like 10 minutes but it is long enough so that you can't be mid-fight with someone and suddenly change from runewarden to serpent or anything amid the flow of combat.

I agree -- things would have to be overhauled a little bit on each class, as I expect.
A rather popular pay-to-play Mud does it similar to all but the top 4 abilities, I believe? Each of those are quite useful, mind you, but not completely crippling.
It'd be like Monk Kaido being able to do everything except deliverance and banish

Just to nitpick, since it sounds very much like multiclass will be Dragonform II: More Classes Edition and not some blend, it's more accurate to say it would be worthless in Achaea right now. That doesn't really mean @Aelios's thoughts are wrong conceptually - just that it would take even more work to make them happen... which may be why it won't happen like that.
@Tecton I was looking at the 'Terraforming Updates' and one thing crossed my mind... if you take Venom from Serpents, do they still have the right to be called 'Serpents'? Wouldn't they just be thieves and assassins instead? I mean, they won't be able to secrete venoms, bite with venoms, or anything remotely serpent-like, save for growing scales and weaving... and rattling... but that's beside the point! Venoms man, VENOMS!

I don't think biting will be removed. Serpents might not even lose the skill; the milking aspect of it could just be taken out and made into a separate tradeskill.
If serpents do lose the venom skill entirely (though I don't see why they would, since it's about 2% tradeskill and 98% combat skill), there are still ways to keep biting, by putting it in subterfuge or in whatever skill replaces venom. The new skill might even expand on the snake-y aspects even more, with things like biting, rattle, scales, and summoned snakes being moved to the new skill and developed into something more complex, like customisable scales that do more than just provide some damage resistance, snakes that can be trained and commanded somewhat like falcons, and whatever now I want this.
Mr @Sarapis and Mr @Tecton : could we plebs (eg non leaders) have an update on the approximate progress, perhaps with some estimated timescales of when cities will start / finish their renaissance? Thank you kindly
Tharos, the Announcer of Delos shouts, "It's near the end of the egghunt and I still haven't figured out how to pronounce Clean-dat-hoo."
Kinda sad that I still can't do Sylvan Paladin because I've always wanted to do that... Stormhammer DSL's would stink...

@Tecton is really the guy to ask as I'm completely uninvolved other than wishing it was already done.
Mhaldor is, as far as I know, pretty firmed up and they're working on the novice tasks. Eleusis, I'm unsure about. Hashan has started but seems to be under the initial impression that this is about completely redoing the city (it's not). I've seen suggestions for things like a new floating crystal city or an underground city, so there's a bit of hopeful expectations meeting reality yet to happen there. Very early stages in other words.
Yes, still powering through. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, we're not going to rush this and do a half-assed job, so it's going to take a little time!

Just so we don't look like total fucktards, those ideas were originally put to us by the admin, and our questions in whether such an extensive rework was on the table have thus far gone deferred or unanswered. I'll take this post as an "lolno", though.
@Jacen I don't think you guys are total or even partial fucktards.
I'm only commenting on what I've seen as an admin who isn't directly involved with the process. But yeah, if you haven't gotten feedback on it yet, I do know that it's about redoing the Houses, not redoing the city.

There has been extensive discussions and there is still extensive discussions about Hashan currently going on with the team. Obviously Hashan isn't an easy city, so it will take time. And as it is still a time away on the list, we have that time Also, Tecton was on holiday, I was on holiday and ill. Everyone needs a lil time to catch up with what they need to do!

Ya, those ideas that you mentioned @Sarapis were actually only examples given to us. As @Ourania said there has been much discussion had and is more being had. Hopefully, with @Tecton back from holiday we will have a bit more direction moving forward.
Heh, the amount of screaming from both the city itself and those that want to attack it in the case of an underground city would be deafening.
Just buff burrow to parity with flight, and add burrower guards as a counterpart to archers.
Or add like crystal-powered mining vehicles people can use to crash into cities and unload raiding parties, as the underground counterpart to naval raids.
Is it intentional that houses now have either all combat requirements to advance or no combat requirements to advance? Or was that a decision reached by a few city leaders?
I think it's probably more a function of the Houses focusing entirely on their archetype. As time goes on, the non-combat Houses may add some basic defense stuff, and the combat Houses will hopefully develop more of a personality.

Like Dform.
Didn't @Sarapis say that it was a switching thing like dform? That's what comes to my mind, at least.

Or at least when we could expect Mhaldor to be done. I don't think it's realistic to say when the future cities will start/finish.
Oh yeah we should probably get started on that huh

It took Cyrene about 30 days to get theirs done. Think about it. Cyrene.
Yeah but Cyrene does things in triplicate, so they should have it done in like ten.
