Actually that's the custom deathsight for the Silent Executioner, which is the top Quisalis Mark member. Currently, that's Jhui.

The Deathmask just says "Bob has been slain by one concealed by a deathmask."
Deathmask isn't even that useful, since the person slain (Bob, in this case) knows who killed them and can just tell anybody they need to tell (or who is curious).

How many people actually own a deathmask, for that matter?
    - (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place."
    - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
    - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
    - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
    - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

  • just @Szanthax so it's super obvious who did the killing

And since I'm incapable of killing anyone it is probably whoever I let borrow my arties...

Ottis has a deathmask, too. Not sure about anyone else
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!"
Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh."
Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."

  • I wonder if it'd be worth dropping the credit price of the deathmask. Almost nobody has them and the only thing it influences is deathsight anyway. They've got to be the prime candidate for overpriced in the artie catalogue.

Could make them a standard decay item that costs gold (or make the effect an enchantment, for that matter) and I still don't see how it'd be all that overpriced.

Or am I missing something about them?

  • Just make it delay the deathsight and the target's ability to speak/tell/partytell.

You still get the chance to gank someone isolated, but you have the brief bit of time to get out of there before anyone can know.

I think some Cyrenians have or had the deathmask artie. Would not be surprised if Rennyn does also, but if he does, I don't think he uses it.
What doesn't kill you gives you exp.

  • Osek had one at one point as well, I believe.

    Yes! Strengthen my arties :dizzy:

I will never understand the hate on the price tag of the Explorer's Tome. If I was interested in pushing higher in explorers (I'm currently 17th) I would 100% buy it. It is worth every single credit. It is absolutely perfect for what it's used for.

No, it's not exceptionally useful for people below probably rank 100, because there's multiple areas you haven't explored at all. That's not what it's designed for. It's designed for getting those last few rooms you can get by knowing exactly how many rooms are left for you to explore in any given area.

    It's amazing.
You're quite the salesperson. Now even I want it.

Who in the Top 10 doesn't have the Explorer's Tome?

    *raisehand*
  • I was going to say I bet most of the top 10 didn't but then I checked and there's only a couple of people in the top 10 that have been there for a long time, Paine, Kellonius and you I think? I was 9 for a good while then I went dormant for 2 years and now I'm stuck in the 20's with only one area I know I need to explore still. The rest I will probably need the tome to help with.

Its mostly if you're comparing to other similar rankings, the lack of availability. Can you imagine if you had to pay for a 500cr artie to see what xp% you were between 92 and 93?

Hell, I'd actually pay 500cr more to see what % I was till the next explorer rank.

    @Adamuns plz
    Huh. Neat.

Is it normal that villages I haven't been to in a RL year are "suspicious" of me upon entering? I just went into Istarion and they're all suspicious of me, despite never hurting any denizen there and despite being away from the game for a long long time.

There are currently a lot of places on my list that are suspicious of me, but I've never even been there... being new, I didn't even know they all existed!
  • LothienLothien Montréal, Québec
It looks like that merely entering a village makes them "suspicious" of you. Is this really intended behavior? I speak Tsol'dasi and everyone is suspicious of me. It's very discouraging.
  • It's a bug with Battlerage that hasn't been fixed, to my knowledge.

Would that also explain my being attacked in Caer Witrin? It isn't even on my villagefeelings and I don't remember ever hunting there.
  • Caer Witrin has the "attack something once and it hates you forever" deal, I think. Even newbiekicking a spider triggers it.

I think Scarlatti's Order is able to get you cleared now, though.

  • Why did @Tecton say Achaea's birthday was the 17th, yet Wikipedia says it's the 9th? I know you're not supposed to take Wikipedia to heart, but I would think that someone closely affiliated with IRE did that write up.  Is this all just a ploy so they can give us multiclass on the "birthday"? If it really is the 17th, someone probably needs to edit that. ..
  • KasyaKasya Tennessee
I don't care as long as we get multiclass.

    Serp/Priest/Blademaster ftw.
  • @Sarapis @Tecton : Will anything to be done to in regards to the alchemy/forestal conflict?

With the changes to tradeskills all restrictions on who could learn alchemical synthesis have been lifted. Anyone can pick it up now which erases everything that was put in place with the revelation event. Cauda Pavonis throws a hissy fit restricting the teaching of alchemy because way back in the day because druids undercut their synthesis prices.

You could say 'well, synthesis is no longer alchemically tied' but that's a bit of a cop out...

Yes pls, let Ashtan have Sentinels. :pleased:

  • This is more of a 'what's your opinion on housing security question,' but I'm curious..,is it worthwhile making outdoor rooms noprism? I have three garden/outdoor rooms and I realized recently that people can track to me in those rooms, which should have been obvious before but I'm an idiot sometimes. It worries me a bit with regards to security. How do others deal with that? Is there anything I can/should do aside from totems and sigils to improve subdivision security?
  • RuthRuth Singapore
I make my garden/courtyard indoors and describe it like normal. Too much of a security risk to let it be outdoors.
"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"

  • Thanks Ruth! I might do that too and get rid of the upgrades, I love the ambient effects of outdoor upgrades but the security issues make me really uncomfortable.
  • To everyone that was curious, yet to lazy to look back, Achaea opened 9/9. First announcement post.  The only thing cool that happened on the 17th was us getting divine orders.
  • 17th confirmed for orders being deleted.

To be honest, I read to post 21 before I quit.  I decided that I don't want to give them any reason to change their birthday to a later date and hold out on multiclass(please let this be a birthday gift), so I didn't mention it.  Gee thanks,  @Klendathu
