I am also fairly sure we are missing something - I think that is why more Meld Shrines keep popping up, because UNWINDing aside there is something else we need to be doing.  Otherwise we're just Sisyphusing it until another NPC graces us with another "Hint."

It doesn't take rocket science to figure out why meld shrines are popping up, and how to prevent it.

If the Tide covers a certain (unknown to me) % of rooms in an area for a certain amount of time, it gets a meld shrine and starts spawning Tide.

I told that to 3-4 coalition people within 2 hours of the shrines showing up, but the coalition is too busy arguing to realize how to stop it.

  • Nah.

We know how to stop it.

We're just busy trying to tell people "hey don't unwind a shrine that's fully char--"
"No don't unwidn there we need it he--"
"DAMNIT JIMMY STOP UNWINDING THERE IT ISNT DOING ANYTHING BUT WASTING EVERYONE'S TIME"

It's only really like 2-4 shrines now so it isn't as huge a deal as it used to be. Boy did we waste a lot of shards on the smaller orders though.
This attitude is pretty bad. Talk about blinkered.
A waste is exactly what it is though. Must've lost at least a hundred to two hundred splinters total now across the smaller orders who have their temples inundated in the Tide.
Depends on your point of view. Not everyone has the luxury of not just a large order, but a smaller order to donate their splinters too. I wonder if your attitude would be different if it were one of the Targy orders.
No, not at all. Deuc's order is comparatively tiny compared to Aurora's and was one of the first to "vice" their shards to another Divine. They understood very early on that their shrine getting splinters (which were potentially a limited resource) would've been an overall detriment to the coalition due to the inaccessibility of their shrine and the active size of their order.

You're perfectly entitled to feel that your own Divine is worth getting splinters for, obviously. From a purely mechanical perspective though, giving shards to the smaller orders where they could be given instead to the pre-eminent shrines that are getting very close to completion (especially as the Tsol'teth and the Tide build up their pace) is at best, inefficient, and at worst, a complete waste.

That is if you purely view it as a "game". From a world standpoint, all Orders are obviously going to want to get their shrines back regardless of how large they are.

Deucalion's decision had nothing to do with being a small order or inaccessible. It had to do with two turns, one god being better for getting a shrine up than two turns, two gods. And the Bloodsworn being one team.

My order is badass, biatch. :(
  • getting really sick of just minding my own business then some op ass denizen pops up out of nowhere and starts attacking me. Not a fan of this event really, entirely; Coaltion with Mhaldor vs Babel then admin getting on a mdor denizen to tell the city leaders to leave the coalition, then coalition vs mdor vs babel, now this tide thing with random aggro denizens? Force participation of events is lame in my opinion

Well, it's a world threat. It's not a thing where the problem will wait for you to go to it. It's designed to very aggressively come to you, forcing you to either stand and fight, or flee.
    - (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place."
    - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
    - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
    - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
    - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

  • @Exxia The denizen did not say "leave the coalition".

is that why you run to Eleusis everytime I enter your room? Truthfully this was just a vent, as I got in realms I learned what the event is now and I am fighting back the tide, it's actually cool.

@Cooper sorry, he got on one and asked why you were in it, when it was a mhaldorian construct (heard Jarrod had the idea, I'm probably wrong) and fit well with Legates rp taking over the world with oppression, I would've also wondered if Sartan has been dormant for rl years why they would activate a denizen and try to influence the direction of the city by playing on our egos and confidence. But as I said, I was originally just venting, I don't care what happens anymore.

Uh, what? I don't think we've been in the same room since before Mhaldor left the Coalition. I've spent the last week or so pretty solidly Tide bashing and standing in Eleusis using spores.

Thats what I mean by the problem coming to you @Exxia - Tide rooms spawning those denizens even when you don't want them to and are minding your own business.

  • I've really enjoyed this event, endless PK or high level hunting.

It's tough to find times where the fighting is relatively even... really wish we had seperated into maybe 3 more even factions/alliances, though obviously Nihilists are wrecking with style when they have the heavies/numbers. Been some great operation, being able to move and group effectively is by far the most important factor.

Fighting on Tide is just too annoying and busy though, and I can't bring myself to focus on "using" it, especially when outnumbering, though no shade at people who do/have. That's my least favourite part for sure.

@Makarios wasn't this supposed to be fixed?  Getting insta-gibbed within half a second of walking into a room is really not fun, no matter how much people scream "JUST SQUINT BRUH".

One denizen hitting twice is a bug, two denizens hitting twice isn't.

Except that the people in those smaller orders are part of your volunteer workforce. If you antagonize them too much, you could lose 10, 15, 20% of your manpower, some of whom might ally with one of the other teams. The current arrangement is probably the best you'll get. Also: when the Coalition was formed people probably didn't imagine it would take this many splinters.

If Targossas and Eleusis withdrew their participation from the coalition, that's basically it for every order that maybe isn't Twilight. The Hashan dudes could probably scrape by on their own. The others would be completely sidelined by the ensuing chaos every splinterfall.

DO IT, DO IT, DO IT! You won't.

Honestly though, that would be so much fun if you would, more small man skirmishes ALL over the splinter fall areas that would evolve into epic battles team on team on team on team.

Hahahahahaha. Or actually nothing. Like they are now.

I support all the little guys banning together. We believe in y'all. You don't need no stinkin' Good or Nature.
And I love too                                                                          Be still, my indelible friend
That love soon might end                                                         You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching                                                      Though quaking
Shown in this shaking                                                             Though crazy

Not sure what's wrong with shoving the small dudes to the side? Might makes right.
Yeah, but as long as they don't have to flex and actually use force it works out wonderfully for them. The smaller orders keep dying and gathering for the large ones, and the large ones don't have to do anything but essentially to them bitch every once in awhile.

    Dem trickle down economics.

It's the meld shrines. Their damage takes you to 1hp if you're dead (which means they can't kill you on their own if you're alive, I think?)
    Huh. Neat.
  • What is dead may never die.
  • Hrm. it'll  be interesting  to see what does happen.
