It actually looks like Hashan or Targ might be. The tide's gotten as far as Sunderlands/Eastern Reaches a couple of times now
It seems all the cities have had a meld shrine on the area right outside their city limits, except I believe Mhaldor. There has been in Sunderlands, Eastern ithmia, Central Wilderness, Eastern Reaches, Southern Vashnar mountains (even Muurn River).
Agith'tai extends his hand to the side, an expression of deep concentration crossing his face.
A scythe of shadows coalesces in the hand of Agith'tai, emanating a hum that sets your teeth on edge.
You say in a deep, rumbling voice, "What do you people want from us."
Agith'tai says, "Dissolution."
You say in a deep, rumbling voice, "Why?"
Agith'tai says, "You are a problem."
Agith'tai says, "And must be solved accordingly."
You say in a deep, rumbling voice, "Interesting."
Agith'tai extends his hand to the side, an expression of deep concentration crossing his face.
An insubstantial dagger coalesces in the hand of Agith'tai, emanating a hum that sets your teeth on edge.
Agith'tai begins to wield an insubstantial dagger in his left hand.
Readying an insubstantial dagger, Agith'tai begins to prowl towards you.
As an insubstantial dagger begins to pulse with a sinister glow, Agith'tai begins to close in on you.
You say in a deep, rumbling voice, "Well, I guess we'll just need to kill you all."
Agith'tai strikes out with incredible speed, the blade of an insubstantial dagger hissing scant inches from your face. For a moment you feel nothing, then a soul-rending agony pervades every fibre of your being, and your body collapses bonelessly to the ground.
Seems like that would make it more like the Call of Duty mechanic of building teams of "like" levels of skill. It doesn't happen naturally/organically and would be ... it would destroy the immersion of combat. And would remove the David and Goliath stories that occur from time to time, as well as likely hinder the actual development of those wishing to be immersed in combat, no? Or am I misunderstanding your PK Level idea?
I go away for a couple of days and you guys post 7 pages in this thread.
It would be no more unnatural than the limitations we already have. The only difference is, we've accepted/grown used to what we have. And yes, you've misunderstood it. I'm not asking for anything other than the levels themselves. The current playerbase has done a pretty good job of self-regulating PK by use/custom. In events or situations that feel more like a sports competition you could have level-based restrictions or team categories (levels 1-30 play in category D, 31-50 in C, etc) but for the most part I just say, give the playerbase a metric and see what they do with it.
And regarding group combat being a step in learning towards 1v1 combat: I used to think this way, but I've changed my mind. They're two very different challenges, for which you use similar abilities. Doing lots of group combat will make you good at seeing what synergizes with what and what tactics can be arranged from the available people/classes, which doesn't contribute to 1v1.
I wonder which city will be the first to accidentally let the fog slip in, and the circumstances of a meld shrine in a city. There should be a pool on this
Should be Ashtan. Why? Because. I honestly think it would add a more interesting dynamic to the Ashtani who are either sitting on the sidelines, or the ones who aren't and have to decide whether to continue their hunting of others or defend the Muthaland

Kind of like the Renaissance event, you mean?
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
Pandora radio popped the GoT season 6 finale musical score on while I was bashing tide, and it somehow fit in perfectly with the mood of it. (Don't worry, music only, no spoilers)

Relative to how often things like that change and how much people actually keep up with them, it should be another 3 or 4 before it's common knowledge.
I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.
@Makarios@Nicola if it's a strategic DM decision to not bring Babel's master shrine out from an inaccessible temple area to favor them that's your perogative, but can you tell us if this is intentional or an oversight, and if the latter, address it by moving the shrine to the center of Petra or something?
