    Ten hours sleep. Straight.

    Not sure if it was the Drambuie or the delphinium, but it worked.

    new GPS from the hubby, new stand mixer from the mommy, and everyone loved the gifts i spent months crocheting. Lots of giftcards with which to buy books and eat food. I like both of those activities. 

    ranty: finally caught my hub's cold and woke up with it on sunday. whale band on monday was...dizzying but worth it (once a year, and we parodied gangham style which was is its own rave), was confined to the couch all day on Christmas, but woke up feeling much better today :)

    bahaha. Here's a compilation video of this year's whale band performance at the local mall. I was requested to march bassoon because ken (the guy in charge) wanted it to be as accurate to the original as possible. I am tiny and have a blue shirt with white music notes (and i'm carrying a very large wooden instrument).

    Yeah, the sparkling was weird. The only reason I can really see for it was a plot device to explain why they lived in this shady little shithole. But yeah, the fifth movie was decent, as opposed to the other four which were pretty darn average. And average these days isn't a very high bar, so many awful movies.

    Another rave, @Valden's mum babysat the kids all day, took our bikes into the big city, had breakfast and lunch out, biked all the way along the waterfront, bought me some new headphones with a voucher we got for christmas, and a jersey that I not only love, but also has sleeves that are actually long enough. This is an amazingly rare thing to find in women's clothing for me, and I'm only 5"8. I've seen women a good 4" or more taller than me, I wonder how they deal with finding clothes...

    Shoulda taken a picture... but there's snow in California! I.. amusingly enough... got to see some out in the desert.

    OOC rave... um... My friends here, my in laws, my husband... everyone that's been dealing with me the past few months, and especially this week. Over-emotional me really is no fun, so I really appreciate those who have been so patient with me.

    There isn't really a "typical" CA, climate-wise. Salinas is pretty normal by Central Valley standards, though, I think.

    Because 30°C+ weather at 4am doesn't do it for me.

    I'm doubly thrilled that I didn't lose contact with my nephew due to family drama. It's a little weird that I'm only a few years older than both my nephews, but they are so amazing.
