    @Trey you measure your screens by the width? Here it's always on the diagonal. Now that I read that properly, that's even more nuts... I wouldn't want anything bigger than I have now.

    No no, I meant on the diagonal as well. When I said 'wide' I meant 'widescreen'. My typing suffers when I post from my phone. And the 27" and 42" are TVs, I'm just using it as a monitor.

    Okay, that makes more sense. :P Wouldn't a tv be a really low res monitor? I just realised my new monitor will be great for watching stuff on. Our tv is hooked up to the laptop as a media PC, but like most laptops that are more than a year old, it's pretty crap, and likes to overheat, or throw out the picture/sound in summer.

    I have no clue about American units and symbols either. I'd say my quote would be a slight exaggeration though, no matter if you said inches or feet.

    Not sure if it's specifically American or not, but yes " generally means inches and ' means feet. @Iocun was using hyperbole for comedic effect, rather than pointing out a misuse of symbols.

    We only use inches to measure computer screens and height as far as I know, so it's rare to use the symbols.

    The mother of all electrical storms is over my house at the moment. Endless sheet lightning is turning night into day, and the thunder sounds like someone has been waving a piece of corrugated iron around for the last half hour without pause!

    It's just bucketing down rain and absolutely brilliant to watch, while laying in bed. To me, this is pure magic and the worst build up of stress over the week is just melting away. I love you, monsoonal weather.

    Storms are awesome. As long as they don't escalate to flooding and blackouts. And destroyed homes. 

    The main reason I like rainy days is the cloudy sky. None of that annoyingly-hot sunlight.

    Welsh storms are awful. Sheets of rain and I've yet to see a lightning bolt. 

    Nice pancakes are nice, though.

    We get them here! Power went out for two hours after I posted, and half the huge trees in about 8 rural suburbs came down from the beating they took: :D
