I'm a new player and I'm glad I took the time to check out the forums. It is valuable to know early on that anything you say and do in game could easily be made public to the entire playerbase within moments.
Okai, had a meeting with ruth and going to try something new, to keep the forums in the loop! Because this's the kinda thing I'd want to be reading when reading the forums at work. Keep in mind that you will have no knowledge of any of what you read in thelog though.

I have to say, I'm not very impressed with Mhaldor's terms for a cessation in hostilities. You were right to guffaw at that!
It was worse initially, but I figured I'll rather be lenient and 'soft' (which were hilariously spoken of as harsh and ridiculous terms by Eleusis still) given how many Eleusians have been claiming to be unhappy OOCly. It's precisely that which is why I kept pushing the idea that the terms are amendable!

Tsk. Bad Tyrannus. Mhaldor is not suppose to be soft
I appreciated the log. The terms given, though, are more along the lines of what each side (primarily Mhaldor) will take when the war is over. There's no real discussion of how to decide when the war will be over. Discussing terms after the war is over is easy - me and Erhon managed to hammer out terms in the Ashtan-Shallam war in about 10 minutes. I'd be way more interested in seeing both parties discuss what the war is over, and what both their aims are.
I think the terms were pretty great on Ruth's behalf. Those are hefty war tides to be gained. 700k, or a bunch of commodities and some less amount of gold. I agree with Rangor though that the term is very short lived, to be honest. 5-10 IG years is honestly just a drop in the bucket. Something like 20/25 would make more sense and be far more beneficial to Eleusis, making them submit to the goals Mhaldor has set, and would move the process along a bit faster for those Eleusians who are already tired of it.
Just and observation! Nice log though @Rangor. I like
@Shirszae and @Tohran Yes, I'm enjoying the conflict and the RP around it. But, the point is that Mhaldor has tactics and skills we simply can't counter. Having the city denizens killed with the phase-kill-earing-out tactics that are being used, is impossible to counter and quite frankly, indicative of cowardice. So we have people that simply quit and leave. The same thing goes with exterminations. The fact that a relatively inexperienced necromancy user, can literally walk from forest room to forest room, doing one extermination after another, is and always has been ridiculously OP from an Eleusian perspective.
NO, NORMAL FORESTS DO NOT REJUVENATE ON THEIR OWN!!! THIS IS A MYTH!!!
Wilderness on the other hand, does rejuvenate on it's own.
And again, I'll mention the raw cost of having to rejuvenate those areas. If rejuvenation was changed, so that it does not cost elemental ice to do it, and that plants are immediately restored to the area without having to replant, then this whole exterminate/rejuvenate cycle would actually be a bit more fair.
Alternatively, extermination can be changed to have a cost similar to rejuvenation. Let's see Ayoxele do 40 exterminations in an in-game day, when it costs him 350gp per extermination.
So yes, I'm enjoying the war from an RP perspective, but that's because I've had to make peace with the fact that this is just a game, and that Eleusis is on the foul end of the stick here.
Make no mistake, if Eleusians had mechanisms for countering some of the un-restrained things that some Mhaldorians are doing, you'd have more Eleusians committing to playing.
And before anyone goes off on how exterm is not OP and how phase-kill-city-denizen-earing out is ok... Think about what it would be like if you had no city to engage. Because that's the reality. There are some Eleusians that have refrained from logging in because of this war, and the fact that there is no existing counter or even possibility of a counter, to these tactics. While Eleusians have no mechanism of any kind, for doing similar harm to Mhaldor.
Is it possible for Eleusis to win this war? No, I don't think so.
Is it fun killing Ayoxele twice in one month? Yes, yes it is!
The problem here, is that the vast majority of players, want at least a chance at winning, before they'll commit to playing. That's not just in Achaea, but all other forms of game as well.
The fact that Eleusis can win battles, but not the war, is what's bringing some players down.
Yes! I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how I'm wrong, if I am.
It should be noted there is a definite desparity in the difference between extermination and rejuvenating in that extermination, when complete, gains an overall (small) positive net, whereas rejuvenation/replanting is always a loss, in both money and time. Plants only grow back on their own if the surrounding rooms about them are plentiful - a state plants are nearly never in these days.
But, onwards to something that amused me:
Atop the Eleusian Gatehouse. Filling the firmament is a lattice of heavy grey clouds. A runic totem is planted solidly in the ground. A furry little humgii sits here, a hungry expression in his wide eyes. A limestone statue of a crouching warrior woman with her palms flat on the ground is here, set before a stunted yew tree that has been split by a bolt of lightning. Mounted atop a woodland bear, a forest archer keenly scans the sprawling canopy. A bronze floor brazier stands here, with a gentle blue glow pouring forth from within. There are 2 majestic stags here. A sigil in the shape of a small, rectangular monolith is on the ground. Resting on the ground is a cube-shaped silver sigil. Calmly standing nearby is a white charger in pristine armour. There are 4 earthen elementalists here. A sleek pony grazes nearby. There are 2 pikes with the head of Mycen on it here. There are 2 pikes with the head of Chiam on it here. There are 2 pikes with the head of Eloru on it here. Panting lightly, a stormy grey dog stands here. A pike with the decapitated head of Khalaz has been erected. There are 3 pikes with the head of Jhui on it here. There are 2 pikes with the head of Dunn on it here. There are 3 pikes with the head of Ayoxele on it here. There are 2 pikes with the head of Malzahar on it here. A pike with the decapitated head of Xinna has been erected. An armoured silver and brown eagle searches the area with piercing eyes. A crimson paradise bird perches nearby. A swarm of bees hovers menacingly nearby. A pike with the decapitated head of Ravien has been erected, bearing the arms of Micositu. A dyed red poster bearing the title "Speaker Ravien" has been hung here. Some irid moss has been left here. A bloodroot leaf lies here. A piece of dried-out kelp has been left here. Standing quietly nearby is a beautiful silver mazaran. A pike with the decapitated head of Qwuan has been erected. A jarrah bench is here. Miss Kiah S. Corso is here. The Silver Dragon Grondson's imposing form looms. You see exits leading east and down.
Oh look, a poster. Odd, why is there something about Ravien here? Hmm...
read poster You read what is written on a dyed red poster:
Speaker Ravien
Did Speaker Ravien ask for your opinion before starting this war?
Do you believe she really thought through all of the consequences for the citizens of Eleusis?
How long did it take her to speak to Tyrannus Ruth regarding terms for ending this war? After months she couldn't even be bothered to do it. She sent another in her stead.
Perhaps it is time to find a replacement Speaker. One who will actually speak and speak for the interests of Eleusians.
Well isn't that cheeky! My my my, I wonder who wrote it.

I think converting mico would be a solid win for Eleusis in this war. (good luck)
How about knowing you saved 70 Eleusian lives and we give you 700,000 gold sovereigns or 500 obsidian, 500 steel and 500,000 gold sovereigns and you have your name carved reallllllly tiny in a tree in a forest of your choice
From wiki: 445 AF - Ravien replaced Landon as Speaker.
In-game conversion command: Achaean date 1 Mayan, year 445 at midnight would be 3/22/2007 at 15:00
And no victory conditions have been laid out either: Here comes another Mhaldor vs Shalam. We'll only end up with pissed off players leaving to play WOW or Sim City even.
NO, NORMAL FORESTS DO NOT REJUVENATE ON THEIR OWN!!! THIS IS A MYTH!!!
If they don't, then that's a bug. Extermination is temporary (the room regenerates after about an Achaean year), except in Mhaldor. Announce 3818 is pretty clear about that.
That would actually be hard to prove since there's pretty much no way a room is going to get ignored for a full year, unless perhaps it's on a far-off island, and even then I doubt it. Eleusis is very good about consistent patrolling, and between that and rogue forestals who do the same that we can't keep track of, there's pretty much no way to test that. Would just have to assume it works.

So, @Harmonia spies a letter on the ground south from the Gates of Mhaldor. She reads it and tells me the letter contains content from a spy reporting to @Nyderrasethi, which 'quotes directly from a secret meeting between the Tyrannus and House Leaders in Mhaldor recently overheard by a Mhaldorian serpent who is spying for Eleusis.'
Kudos for the efforts in trying to mimic Herose's propaganda posters, though. I giggled at the interpretation of how each individual speaks.
Tyrannus Ruth - "The Eleusians are proving to be stronger than we anticipated, we're nearly out of minerals and gold in our reserves. If they take out too many guards, we will have to concede."
Nagrani @Mycen - "The Naga are trying to attack where they can, but Eleusis keeps pinning us down and going for Melee, so we have decided to instill a secret order among only the Naga and known only to you few. We will leave all Maldaathi, Congregation, and Ebon Fist to deal with the melee and run before the Naga die. We must look out for the Naga at this juncture of the war and only work on the survival of the house.""
Messiah @Alynna - "The Naga are of no use in any fight anyways, the only thing I've seen of Mycen in years is her backside as she flees everything and only looks after her own interests. I grow tired of listening to her and you Tyrannus, you put us in this position and we are failing in front of the realms."
Daemonic Hand @Zii - "I believe it wise to go ahead and concede to their terms, Tyrannus. We can only hold out so long, and that point of no return is approaching closely. The attrition is mounting, it is only a matter of time before our slaves rise up against us, our position grows weak.""
Tyrannus Ruth - "Screw the slaves, those ungrateful meatbags, they only serve to serve our agendas. I am growing concerned of the actions of a spy lately. I know there is at least one in the Naga house but I can't name them yet. Mycen it is your job to spy on your comrades by whatever means necessary! You are all dismissed."
So @Ruth was leading a few of us and we burned the whole Northen Ithmia down along with @Harmonia. After skrimishes I went back to check on stuff in the aftermath.
Upon the bank of the river Zaphar.
The stars twinkle in the clear night sky. Knave Prodigy @Teghaineaine Anemides, Autumn's Nightshade is here. She wields a simple fishing pole in both hands.

Extermination won't gain the necromancer essence unless it's full plants or something.
Here is the entire letter for those who missed it or wanted to see it.
Mhaldorians,
Why fight in this war? Because your slave drivers tell you to? Because you are afraid and weakened by their oppression and don't think yourself strong enough to break free?
Cast off your irons, pick you and your fellow slaves up and form up. The armies of Eleusis are decimating your fighters at every turn, your weak leaders make demands they know they can't possibly keep and hide behind a thin veil of strength in these troubling times. What side would you like to be on? The winning side? I would, which is why I hold a hand out to you now, defect from your army, cast off from your opressors and find solace in the healing embrace of the forest. That you may be cleansed of the rotting festering disease that has clung to your life for such a time.
Tyrannus Ruth is but a vessel of frailty, her actions show desperation as do the actions of her hierarchy. That very same heirarchy that has shamed and shunned you down in the lower ranks. In this trying time, you should no longer fear the lash but rather strike the holders. Strike at them and leave Mhaldor to suffer it's own defeat at the hands of Eleusis.
Certain spies and informants from within the army of Mhaldor have started to pass out information on the Tyrannus and her confidants who are hiding the truth.
Quotes directly from a secret meeting between the Tyrannus and House Leaders in Mhaldor recently overheared by a Mhaldorian serpent who is spying for Eleusis.

Find solace in the fact that safety and security is yours to grab yet again, the trees will shelter you, protect you, and invigorate you through a cleansing of your soul. Seek out our Leath-ri and strong Eleusians and they will bring you to your feet, not your knees like Mhaldor would have you.
@Nyderrasethi gave Taraza a letter, I was rather speechless. Though yeah, if you want to mimic someone please take the effort into making it..uh..more believable? I spent about 10 minutes laughing. Although only one of them sounded close to the actual person. (No it is not @Zii, big words terrify Zii)

Daemonic Hand Zii - "I believe it wise to go ahead and concede to their terms, Tyrannus. We can only hold out so long, and that point of no return is approaching closely. The attrition is mounting, it is only a matter of time before our slaves rise up against us, our position grows weak."
Find solace in the fact that safety and security is yours to grab yet again, the trees will shelter you, protect you, and invigorate you through a cleansing of your soul. Seek out our Leath-ri and strong Eleusians and they will bring you to your feet, not your knees like Mhaldor would have you.
Sincerely,

Haha Newps. I usually hand deliver important letters sealed and watch them burn it after they read it.
