Eleusis prevents people from living their lives as they choose in the same way Mhaldor does pretty regularly, though. So if you can't go to war with Eleusis Mhaldor's equally flimsy

The Party Line on the whole thing is that Eleusis, in theory, serves something that is very dear to the aims of Good. Nature = continued life for mortalkind and the growth of Creation, so Targ is pretty pro-Nature in its leanings. Eleusis, functioning as it should (according to the Bloodsworn, at least) would be our most natural not-enemy as a faction. Eleusis, functioning as it is, is mostly a minor annoyance that doesn't seem to do anything of note to harm Creation as a whole. Yes, they raid Hashan and Mhaldor, but so do we; the main difference is that Targ doesn't (often) raid itself. Mhaldor, on the other hand, does have the whole 'we've got a boot for every throat' mentality, which itself is a lot more diametrically opposed to Good than Nature is.
The rise of the 'let's raid Targ thing' is still only a recent development, one that really didn't start occurring with any regularity until 50-ish IC years after the poorly-phrased 'rape of the Zaphar.' Because of that, it's generally assumed (IC, at least) that Targ just has to wait out for a less antagonistic Speaker to get elected before it can stop dealing with Eleusis.
The common sense line says 'this should be an entirely player-driven initiative,' but such is life. I wish we'd gotten it to stick when we had the chance, but maybe Team Green will do something awesomely creative to force Targ's hand.

Wasn't exactly this tried a few times and got flatly ignored by Targ? The in-Targ sacrifices, planting the seeds, etc?

Minus the whole, you know. Evil shit. :>
Right, except anyone with 5 minutes of understanding of achaea knows that achaean Good is not actually an opposite to achaean Evil. The inability to differentiate between the general concept of good/evil vs Mhaldor/Targ Good/Evil is a bit failing of many people.
Re: Eleusis, it's literally Gaia's thing that all cities are gonna be wiped, that includes Targ. If you can find a reason to oppose Mhaldor for being mean despite 'meanness' not being a crime in the new thing, then you can find a reason to oppose Eleusis is all I'm saying.
@Kiet That's not what Targ is opposed to Mhaldor for. They're opposed because they inhibit the Growth of Creation and whatnot with their whole "only the strong matter and burn the rest" mentality. That's where the opposition is.
You're talking as if that's something the players get to decide.
I can go raid Eleusis, sure, but if I get zapped for it by Aurora/Deucalion because I went against their orders - it's not a smart move, nor is it worth it.
If Sartan told Mhaldor to cease hostilities with Ashtan, for instance, regardless of how you felt about it you would do it.
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
I guess targ can just keep playing grab their ankles with eleusis.
But I do get just flat out not wanting to face their numbers. They multiply like rabbits half the time you engage them and their numbers look halfway manageable. It's sometimes fun to suicide squad but only with other people who are down for that. Not somewhere to bring learning baby raiders when it's so uneven.

It's a fairly minor point, though. You could just as well think of something similar for Eleusis, the players just aren't allowed to..
I honestly thought the recent event was going to consolidate the factions. Just based on the way the slith stuff worked out. Would be crazy for targ/u-licks-us/hashan all on the same team

Sort of. Rangor, Alrena and a few others did a blood sacrifice in Targ of a dockworker, and Eleusians got banned from going there as a result at risk of enemy status, unless we chose to become allied and publicly denounced the ritual. To which the vast majority of Eleusis went "lolno" and continued about their business. This was under Aldair's reign as Dawnlord, and the ban was lifted after a couple of IG years.
Targ did raid/skirmish vaguely off and on for a couple of weeks after the ritual (I remember it mostly for Tesha's "jesus christ darts" comment that got quoted to forums along with "I'll drop ret on this Sent ki-OH GOD I'M DYING"), and even 2-tanked Eleusis once. Then it stopped and went back to status quo.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

We'll find someone new to sacrifice. Public hanging for cobbling the sun-isles.

Find a tree in Targ and hang somebody from it. Does Targ have trees, or did they murder them all?

I get the feeling that trying harder might not yield the desired results.
