It's stupid that they disappear while you're on ships, period.
They don't disappear while logged out. They don't disappear while camping a guard stack. They don't disappear in non-prism rooms. They don't disappear while hiding in an obscure off plane location. The 'disappear 12 seconds after you board a ship' thing is dumb. Ships are a valid part of the game and restricting people from using ships while holding a relic is silly.

Pretty sure it was a Targossian who sat on a ship with one of the items at the beginning of the Conclave event that's to blame for that...

@Kandra Dai always seems to outsmart people. His mischief knows no bounds. Heh Even when he doesn't know what's going on he will unwittingly cause much laughter. S'why we love him. No?
Shirszae Nynniaw, Fallen Harbinger of Art shouts, "Mayhap. Was totally worth it, however."
(Newbie): Romeo says, "Shouts getting in your way? You could always do SHOUTSOFF to ignore them."
Romeo's remark right then made me smile.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
I honestly don't know the problem with Skype being an extension of your IG character's roleplay. I keep seeing it everywhere and have been questioned on clans for it. Considering the fact that Achaea is just a 'realm' that contains your character it is not unreasonable to apply your character to another realm. Mhaldor has been doing IC Skype roleplay, council actions, and rituals/events for a long time, supplemented with an OOC Skype group synonymous with OOC clans. For example yesterday:
I've found that roughly 100% of the people trying to hire out informal contracts like that are jealous bitches.
I've had countless random chicks send me messages offering to pay me to kill other random chicks that stole their boyfriend, talked about them behind their back, or some other type of petty drama.
You read what is written on an elegant white letter:
If you slay the Cyrenese whore Milani within the next half day i'll send
you 5,000 gold. Deathsight will be on
So, I really wish this was actually how the mark system worked. No clue who sent this to me.
Ahaha... I say that's pretty cheap though. If crazy b*tches were stealing my ig man I'd at least offer 5001 gold.
I'd approach this like a game of Clue IC if someone took a hit out on me: Who wanted to kill Bluef in her cavern with the Jinsun?
Does this mean that the letters I've been sending you IC requesting random people slain are going unanswered @Jinsun? If so, I want the two dead rats, granny panties, and bottle of rum I gave you back!
1) Who the hell uses Skype anymore? Mhaldor has a dedicated TS3 server.
2)
You can technically be hired outside of the Mark system for one-off
assassinations for Reasonable (and I stress reasonable) reasons (e.g.
political opponent, dishonorable curr, smacked my sister around, etc).
In an ideal assassination system, the reason wouldn't matter; you pay
someone a hefty price to kill someone else for the mystery and the
anonymity.
They don't have any reason to know who contracted the
kill or for what reason; that's up to them to figure out. It simply
lets them know they have a rival out there somewhere and they'll need to
proceed cautiously to root them out and work against them.
Even
if you do discover who your rival is, you would have to have supporting
evidence in order to retaliate rather than working on mere assumption
alone (e.g. you're willing to pay the assassin an exorbitant amount of
gold to discover who contracted them, but they also have the option to
decline to disclose that information at any price).

If this is true, Jin, do it. If she issues, I'll give you a list of people who likely sent that letter.
While I personally would not mind if done to me, that sounds awfully like a bad idea in general, depending on whom you get hired to take out. Why? Simply because the point of the Mark system already is to hire on people when you have a reasonable reason for it. Simply being killed and not being able to know who paid for it or for what reason, while it might make for a good story on a book, does not work quite as well on a game.
Specially considering the person involved. You'd be just breeding her craving for loldrama. Its almost guaranteed that nothing fun or interesting is going to come out of it.
And you won't understand the cause of your grief...

@Santar: That sounds like High School: The Musical's evil twin - High School: The Murder Mystery.
PS: A high school where petty disputes are settled by contract-killer-students sounds like an awesome setting for a fiction. Not so much for real world, though.

The Mark system is entirely hit and miss. You can hire five contracts in one day and 4/5 will sit there until they expire because the mark is not very active, not very motivated, or simply doesn't want to mess around with the contract he/she has been handed. The Mark system is also really about vengeance for wrongdoings.
Hiring a mercenary to take someone out is an roleplay opportunity. Yes, someone may lose some experience but that doesn't have to be the case. The mercenary could pull a double cross for double the sovereigns, he/she could roleplay your capture and the attacks, he could simply interact with you and give you a chance to do something other than die from a straight up gank. If you don't like how things work out, you can hire on whoever attacks/kills you to regain that experience too or hire a mercenary yourself to take out the hirer.
If this person is such a loldramawhore, then maybe what Jinsun should do is alert the city that she's bringing danger to their doors. I've seen people kicked out for a lot less.
I am talking about strict assassinations. Certainly, if @Jinsun or whoever gets hired to do such jobs can pull off an interesting experience for the victim that is more than just loldie, then yeah, it could be very interesting. Otherwise, likely as not (and even maybe if the interaction was as fun as it could be), the victim is going to complain that Jin/whoever hired him is bypassing the official system for that kind of stuff, yadda yadda, issues fly back and forth, and fun goes off the window.
Then again, I am fairly pessimist.

I knew someone in another realm who would do a reverse take of The Sorrowful Men. Each time they killed someone, they would whisper, "I'm sorry" and drop a flower.
I like that a level of anonymity has been brought to the Mark system, but overall I don't like the Mark system and feel it's rather unnecessary (just my opinion). I think having to seek out an assassin to fulfill your desire to spill blood against a rival should be an option, in that you have to first identify who is an assassin and then initiate contact on your own to negotiate the deals.
If nothing else, removing the Honours line that identifies someone as a Mark would be interesting, especially considering that most Marks are usually going to have some varying degree of infamy. If not, it's safe to assume they're not actively attempting or completing contracts.
I digress and will not further derail the thread, just throwing that out there.

Sometimes HELP files have good information!
Gyrth has been fatally pierced through the heart by a fairy Lady of Sidhe's deadly beauty.
@Erhon's voice sizzles as he tells you, "//Gyrth's struck through the heart, the Sidhe's to blame, Lady you give love, a bad name."
His deranged mind offering no resistance, Vithincus falls to the recondite power of Void Carnifex Jinsun Ze'Dekiah, Twin-born Assassin.
Void Carnifex Jinsun Ze'Dekiah, Twin-born Assassin shouts, "That is the end of those who would stand against me."
Shirszae Nynniaw, Fallen Harbinger of Art shouts, "It is? Because I did not have any problem toppling you into guards."
Void Carnifex Jinsun Ze'Dekiah, Twin-born Assassin shouts, "You're going to find trouble leaving Hashan, though."
