Does anyone have a rough ETA as to when the knight changes are coming around?
My hopeful (but very rough) ETA is sometime in the first half of 2015. I suspect they'll end up being deployed with all of the other class changes to facilitate the tradeskill split, plus weaponry changes, plus forging changes, plus any other tradeskill changes. Maybe even multiclass as well.
Srsly? Shaman classlead changes were put on hold because they thought they'd deal with them during their reworking...but we were recently told that is going to be after knights. So basically, shamans won't be seeing any fixes until mid to late 2015? That's...so disappointing. Pls @Makarios‌ & @Tecton‌ say it isn't so.
Because Shaman is the most popular class by far, it should be done first.
  • Didn't say that. Shaman's popularity is a product of many things though, not the least of which is getting ignored during the last set of classlead changes and then told we might not see anything until our full re-work. :(
  • How is Jester bashing currently, versus Apostate? Assuming tri-transed for both. With and without an artie blackjack?

  • Shaman is a niche class.  I suspect the fact we play with dolls to be one of the major turn offs of the class, as well as the general attitude towards the few predominant shamans.  The class is very code intensive and about as entertaining as slamming your head in a car door until you get to a certain point.  It's main uses in raid are totems and hinder,  both of which other classes do better.  Honestly when I was a Shaman I felt more useful webbing in raids than bothering to throw up swift curses and try to stack on afflictions. While it is possible to get kills in a raid,  it is way way way easier to just go serpent and snipe people out.  This coupled with the upkeep cost and intimate knowledge of curing required to play the class turn a lot of new potential shamans off.  Let's all be honest,  when someone suggests going shaman to me,  I ask their goals and suggest a class that does it better,  aside from roleplay.

    1. I'm not an admin or a coder, so it's a very rough estimate based on the knowledge I do have about what work has and hasn't been done (which is by no means complete - my knowledge, that is, though also the work) towards the tradeskill split and a little bit of guessing as to what other changes are likely to be released alongside them.
    2. Shamans don't have a tradeskill. The Knight changes are to work on the skill that will replace Forging as a class skill when the tradeskill split happens, so it seems like it would have to wait until all of the other classes that have tradeskills are done too. No such concern with Shaman, so they could be released pretty much as soon as they're ready.
    3. My estimate is to complete the work for every class that needs a replacement for a tradeskill (plus Shaman), the necessary tradeskill changes, and any other supporting systems they want to release at the same time. We won't be working on Knights until 2015.

No argument there but I will mention I saw @Xer, @Hasar and someone else consistently wrecking a group of midbie Eleusians like 3v7 just using swiftcurse/dragoncurse/tzantsa. Was way too damn funny, and thats coming from someone on the receiving end of that exchange.

Without arties: Basically the same offensively. Apostate has better defence, jester has better utility. They're pretty close, so it's pretty much up to personal preference.

With arties (blackjack for jester, collar and diadem for apostate): Jester is far better than apostate offensively. Apostate is still better defensively, but there are a lot of defensive artefacts that make that difference less important, and jester will be killing things so much faster that they won't need to survive as long before clearing out the room. Blackjacks are also far cheaper than collar+diadem.

Someone mentioned again today (in an OOC clan) that knights are done, already tested, etc. and that they'll likely be rolling them out before Christmas. Can anyone else confirm/deny?

I don't know who you've been talking to, but they're either intentionally lying or just don't know what they're talking about. Knights aren't done.
  • I figured it was a troll but thought I'd ask anyway (hopes dashed...I'll see you next year shaman reworking!)

If I get the option to not be shimmied into speedknighting, I will be very thrilled.

  • Make claymore knights viable like in Imperian.

Sure is fun walking into a room with two knights and getting 100-0'd instantly when you have (the Imperian equivalent of) 7000 health.

    BANNERCODE in-game!
  • ShirszaeShirszae Santo Domingo
Regarding servant reactions: Can I test a reaction to see if it actually works as I want, without having to lock it first? Or, if not, can I unlock a reaction if I decide it does not do what I want it to do without having to pay a credit if I am still under the 24-hours grace period?

And you won't understand the cause of your grief...

Oh, sure. Make me login to the actual game. I'm retired DAMMNIT!
    They're all in the same place, though: www.achaea.com/banner/username.jpg , www.achaea.com/banner/username-small.jpg , or www.achaea.com/banner/username-large.jpg
  • Now you're just making Rakon have to expend effort.

After setting all the parts of a reaction (trigger/action/condition), it automatically starts the 24-hours grace period timer. Don't forget to enable it to test if it works, though. Make your changes before the timer runs out and the reaction is locked.

What exactly is the EQBAL queue for?
A command queued in eqbal will go through as soon you have both equilibrium and balance, so the order you sent things wont be messed if you queued to eq and got pushed out of bal the last moment.

  • @Josoul: Thanks, but that didn't really make any sense to me. Can you give an actual example of how it affects the way commands are fired, especially in comparison to just using the EQ and BAL queues separately?

Like for rend/gust, I would say. Haven't quite tried it yet.

A Monk can Transmute and Combo on the same EQBAL, but only if Transmute gets sent first.  If I simply queued Transmute to EQ and Combo to BAL, there's a chance that I sent them in the wrong order, Combo gets done first, and I can't Transmute until I get balance again.  If I send Transmute on EQBAL and Combo on BAL, then no matter what order they're queued in, Transmute gets done first and Combo second.

I think.  I haven't tested this thoroughly as I only learned about not using autoqueue yesterday.
