  • Yeah, any group discount for our size wasn't worth bothering with.

What about transportation to and from the venue?  It is a pain to get taxis to come to residences in Vegas.

  • That's up to you guys. The estate is quite close to the airport, so it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, last time I called cabs to a residence in Vegas, they were there in 15 minutes and we were like 25 minutes off the strip.
  • FYI Cabs in Vegas take you the long way.
  • If anyone cares to know, I'm booked at New York, New York (reasonable $91 avg a night, eh..with resort fee it's like $110).

I was considering renting a car since they seem to be about $20 a day.  I've read a few comments from people about traffic being ridiculous, would anyone seriously recommend skipping driving around Vegas?
  • Traffic in Vegas isn't bad (at least compared to the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc) except for driving on the Strip and sometimes on the surrounding highways during rush hour. Going up and down the Strip is often really slow, but there's an exit into the NY NY garage off Tropicana ave, so you should be able to drive around without setting foot on the strip.

You just need to know the side streets that run parallel to the strip, Koval and Frank Sinatra.  The Strip at night is bad, especially Friday when the Californians are driving into the city.

@amitation - The rental cars listed prices are cheap but the associated fees and taxes double the listed price in my experience.  That said I love having a car around Vegas because there are wonderful places to eat and visit that would be pricey to taxi back and forth to.

Tropicana and Flamingo will be packed on Friday and Saturday nights coming off the 15, but Las Vegas Blvd really isn't that bad. Not sure where the Con is going to be at ( @Sarapis did I accidentally delete the update email or has it not gone out yet?), but traffic shouldn't be too much of a problem if you're staying on the Strip and don't plan on going any place outside the Strip. Would definitely not recommend taxis.

Only a couple of tickets remain across the Iron Realms! Get in quickly as they'll soon be gone!

There might be a couple more floating about. Not 100% sure. Willing to hook up people who might otherwise miss out on tickets, with people who've had unexpected plans of the variety that mean a ticket kept is a ticket wasted. I've already heard from one person who might have two available.

I live in the Bay Area. I'm allowed to diss its traffic!

A pox! A pox on you! I will enjoy our wonderful wonderful gridlock traffic on south bound freeway!

And I just have to mention this second winter is nice :D
  • I just sent out an Ironcon update to everyone that's going. If you didn't get it, it means I have an incorrect email address. Let me know right away if that's the case.

Also, here's a video of where we'll be at. It's fun, aside from the cheesy scene of the dudes awkwardly dancing.

@Cooper :34 - :36 You and me, all weekend. Let's make it happen.
  • I gave up my ticket, sorry bro.

  • @Cooper I didn't get an email about that btw. I still have you on the attendance list, and don't have whoever you gave it to on it.

The Logos will hoist a flagon or six with you. It's going to be awesome.
  • Can't seem to find the other threads, as I'm forum inept, but if anyone is unable to go and is looking to give up an IronCon ticket, I'd be interested.

Since my previous Ironcon roomie pulled the predicatable "Guys, don't kill me, I'll be good" (and then twenty levels later starts killing newbies) and flip flopped on me again for the millionth time, I ended up inviting my girlfriend instead.

Since she doesn't have a ticket, she said she'll just wait in the casinos without me while I'm at the Resort.

    ....

It'd be cheaper for me to get a ticket to the resort. Please PM me/msg me whatever.
  • The last IronCon ticket sold out this weekend, so finding people who are bailing is the only route now. Here's the thread you were looking for: http://forums.achaea.com/discussion/1046/discounted-ironcon-ticket-available#latest
  • There are CONVENTIONS for these games?

    *swooning*

  • Of course. Why not? These are more like a meet and greet, rather than type of con DragonCon had 15 years ago. It's more of a party and get drunk with your gods and fellow players that you've been around and gotten to know.

It's more of a relaxed atmosphere than having booths and events and costume contests, etc, like a lot of Cons are.

Yes, the best part about these types of meet and greets is that you get to interact with other players and admins on a more personal level. Get to know them, sit together in a hotel room with everyone on a laptop talking in game rather then to the person next to you, party with them, get them drunk, take incriminating photos of them, extort them for free credits under threat of releasing said photos to the Achaean public, you know, all the good stuff!
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my hounds!
    Krenim: Hounds? How cliche.
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my rape gorilla!
    Krenim: ...We'll show ourselves out.

I was in the car today thinking about things to do.  Since we're in vegas we need to do a texas hold'em tourny with lots of alcohol and a pool of credits.  Winner takes all credits in their respective game.  Yes.

There's definitely going to be a poker tourney. I believe there's a poker table in the games room, in fact, or maybe it's a blackjack table only (there is definitely a dedicated blackjack table, oddly). There's also foosball, pool, and possibly ping pong in that games room too.

What I'm most looking forward to is Saturday night though, when we lock the gate to the estate and turn the whole thing into an Arena for a giant FFA.
May the odds be forever in your favour *headbow*

  • OMG!  2014 . . . I am SO THERE, health permitting, and assuming I can fully learn this game!

*and somebody just referenced one of my alltime favorite book series*

  • I just went back and reread, and discovered the concept of

    this game . . . plus alcohol!!!!!!

    No words for the awesomeness!
