  • They work once an hour, and give you 5-8 reflections.  Can be used on yourself or others.

Prevented by everything that it should be.  Can be used prone, which is effectively the only reason to purchase it.

  • Worth noting that it also doesn't consume balance or EQ, only requires it. Also the cooldown isn't 1 hour, it resets at the start of every achaean day, so the cooldown is -at maximum- 1 hour but on average it is shorter.

It's very strong and I bought one when my classlead to nerf it got denied. >:)

  • I have never encountered any problems with it, and in all honesty it's only actually impacted about 2-3 fights since I've owned it (almost a year now).

There simply aren't that many cases that using it would be better than lyring (I really only use it to fly over guards, or (previously) getting soulspear/sniped.

It's a free life 1v1 against most (all?) classes. You just have to throw morals out the window.
Also you can use it -and- lyre to be psuedo-immortal, don't have to choose. As a Priest it seems like it would be quite strong to reflect/hands of reflect/shield yourself or an ally as long as they aren't the type to hold down an attack macro. I genuinely find myself not using it because I forget (still new to me, haven't been playing much), not because it isn't fantastic. I feel it's underutilized and has a lot of potential if used well.

It's definitely underutilized, but mostly because it's 800cr and not worth it compared to virtually any other artefact those credits could go to.  Even claws are arguably much more useful.

There are also many ways to stop it.  All the standard hindrance afflictions/statii prevent it, with the singular exception of prone.  It can also be forced to prevent its use, just as any offensive command can be forced to drop the reflections (which can only be cast once an hour).

I'd definitely equate its use in duels to that of lyre*/soulcage/mog, though.  It's definitely shunned, and doesn't really happen very often.  (* temporary use of lyre/reflections to counter damage stacks is perfectly fine though, IMO)

  • do we know for sure if lessons in weaponry will continue to effect balance times post knight changes?

There has been no mention of this changing.

How is bleed damage calculated with weapon attacks and which weapons afflict it more consistently?

What is a good substitute for rapier as a weapon proficiency?
When is flail a good weapon and why do the stats seem to be the worse?
Is a shield worth it on an alchemist who using a CON-Nimble-Weaponry build for hunting, or could they get away with using a 2H weapon like a bastard sword?

I use a really high damage flail for hitting rebounding to reset my limbs (when I'm not a priest, of course).  Two-handers are better though, but are really slow.

I don't understand the concept "hitting rebounding to reset my limbs". I am using a flail right now, seems decent.

  • So what I am hear you saying is, this is done with targeting the limb they are targeting and then rebounding on your limb to preemptively cure it. That is so odd I wonder if it an intentional feature. Reality is a mirror of confusion. It just works I guess, just like we intentionally make ourselves blind and deaf and use mindseye. Heh heh!

It is a tradeoff for using rebounding in the first place.  Rebounding is incredibly powerful against many opponents, but smart ones will use it to wreck your limb counts.

Should be noted that it's not that hard to track limb damage on rebounding.

It's not an exact science, but it's far from difficult to approximate it.

The real issue is that rebounding can be used to actually break the limbs.  Prior to prepping a limb, rebounding hits aren't the end of the world.
  • How is that flaggable @Bluef
  • She might've been flagging it for his signature which up until a bit ago was targetting her? No idea.

Ernam decided to include my image in his signature. Every post bearing it made recently was flagged. Now that's removed it, I'll gladly glad back and remove the abuse flags. Carry on with the combat questions.

  • Can't remember how to remove songblessing, and humgii didn't work.  =(.

  • I don't think you can. If it's an artefact rapier, maybe email artefacts or customisations about it?

Wand of reflections is easily worth 800 cr. It's one of the best artefacts in the game. Was one of my first buys.

@Xer and I routinely save each other with them. <3 my Xer bb.

Also, with respect to piety vs. tentacles, in the context of 1v1, tentacles is generally better offensively (better for chasing), but piety is better defensively (100% anti-chase). Neither one is "better" than the other. They are simply better for different things.

  • Lethal Ink decreases Web balance by how much?

  • .5 seconds, iirc.
  • How does the new bow accuracy thing work?

Is a lupine worth the investment if you only have SHOOT (will I ever hit anything?) or is the prudent thing to do if you don't have archery via class skills to get a Ranger's and just use it for meteors?
  • With the marksman trait and no walls in the way, you'll have about 65% accuracy from an adjacent room, about 50% from 2+ rooms away.

Crossbow is basically the Rat stance of serpent.

It was cool like 10+ years ago before paypal quad-trans became the norm for 18 year old chars.

Crossbows are still better than darkbows when you have basically no chance to miss (like aim+snipe with the marksman trait from one room away, which should be 100% accuracy even with a crossbow). Crossbows were actually really useful and worth keeping (if you didn't have an artefact bow) before archery accuracy was fixed.

Are all artefact bows the same accuracy? The HELP file makes it sound like they are not, but that thread makes it sound like they are.
