  • Per AB scroll, weaving increases the level of effectiveness of avoidance. Avoidance vs denizens lowers damage, vs adventurers you can dodge the attack (and potentially also damage reduction if hit ?). Question is: vs denizens does it cap at trans? Meaning, if I'm virt or fabled and have weaving up against denizens will it act as though I'm trans avoidance? It seemed to work this way, but that may've been wishful thinking as I didn't take tons of samples to run any numbers. Now that trans'd avoidance I don't see any difference on having it up or not (vs denizens). Anybody done more extensive testing on this point?
    The Truths hurt. Always.
  • As far as I'm aware weaving only increases your ability to dodge attacks, it doesn't increase the damage reduction portion of the Avoidance skill. There's zero bonus against denizens from weaving.
  • The "boost your effective avoidance" part is pretty misleading, it really is just a straight dodging bonus, nothing to do with the avoidance skill. It doesn't give damage resistance against players or denizens.

Tecton did say that some denizens could be dodged, so weaving can help against denizens in that case, but I have no idea what denizens he was referring to.

I thought avoidance actually gave a 13% reduction to physical damage taken when transed out.

She's commenting on Weaving, not the Avoidance skill which does provide the reduction to physical damage. As far as I can see.

    help avoidance:
This damage reduction can be nearly as much as one part in seven.

    14.285 is 1/7 so I imagine it's 14%
Achieved dragon on the 13th of Aeguary, 634 - aged 21 and 1 month and 21 days.

Elder dragon on the 6th of Chronos 635 - aged 22 and 8 months and 14 days.

I did notice I dodged very very rarely against denizens, but damned if I can remember which ones. I'm going to need to start making a list when I see it - had no idea it was only specific ones!

What does Barkskin (Woodlore)  roughly equate to in terms of defense?

Also, is it only one type or resistance, or both cutting and blunt?

    Viva la Bluef.
  • Like 15% cutting.

    No blunt.

    I guess logically, yeah.

Honestly, these days it's best to stay on mount, then tumble over noose and never get 100% prepped without vitality. If it takes them more than 2 minutes to prep you, you won't die. Since monk can't parry, you can definitely prolong their prep indefinitely.

  • Vitality so good :(
  • A question regarding balance in 1 vs 1's - flying immediately seems to be the norm to escape any form of breaks these days that don't involve proning/paralysis.

Given that flying is quite hard to hinder outdoors(possible with four broken limbs) and takes ~2 seconds with a ring of flying vs 3 seconds for tentacle, is this considered "balanced"? It offers a better defense than shielding, which requires two unbroken arms.

  • Can't fly with a broken arm. At least, for cast aerial. Should be the same for RoF?

  • Nopes, can fly with four broken limbs with RoF and Atavian fly. Not sure about mount flying though.

  • The absolute worst is jester balloons.  They can fly even while prone with those things, making them completely immune to monk offense while outdoors.

Normal Ring of Flying/Atavian fyl/Mount fly are all pretty strong, but there aren't a lot of situations they'll get someone out of that just running wouldn't (unless someone breaks their leg without proning them, which is a mistake on the attacker's part anyway).
  • Monks have a force ability
  • I wish I could break someone's leg while proning them!

Parry switching on a proning leg break is standard-fare defense against prone prepping though. Regarding arm breaks these days, the immediate response seems to be to fly until the arm is cured(as opposed to shielding) because it offers a stronger defense than shielding - it's probably the strongest defense against monk/knight offense(?)

Also, just to heal up from damage in general, spamming fly and running a few rooms away is usually good enough.

  • Kardal, just get a friend and do 2v2's. With you defending and doing super damage, you'll have a blast, and you'll give good fights. 2v2's pretty fun :)

Agreed. You would make a cool bloodsworn to one of our 80 billion priests!

  • You just want a cooler bloodsworn than me, admit it D:
  • You aren't (con spec+trait+damnation focused) Paladin yet. :( You also need to work on getting that 700 year TF by pking Sartan. He was even visible a few days ago. Slacker!

  • I don't have a veil, how am I supposed to know where he is? D:
  • Targossas and Eleusis keep recruiting me D:!!
@Rangor is the funniest at it though. He's offered ranging things from Mhaldorian heads to Eleusian women hahaha
And I've actually been thinking of maybe going paladin. Then again,.. maybe not. Just thoughts!

  • how does quick-witted and a diadem stack?

  • edited November 2013
Sorry. Missed the how. I believe the diadem is applied after quick witted. So if you have 1 sec recovery with QW you will have 0.85 seconds with diadem.
