Melee needs strong alternatives to make fights between groups of different sizes interesting. Deathball Achaea is neither fun nor interesting, and LoS allows small, nimble groups to avoid getting completely steamrolled by a stack fifteen deep who walk into the room and press f1.
F2, actually. F1 is for bashing.

Have to disagree here. Whether you walk into the room, or stand next to the room, you can still do the whole "press f1" thing. Your f1 just has to be for los instead of melee.
If there are 15 people in a group, chances are your group has a comparable number. You don't see any of those 15 man groups running around unless it's some sort of city/continent event. Deathball as you called it isn't necessarily fun, but then again neither is dealing with the 10 people in your room and the 5 outside shooting you from a vantage point of invulnerability.
What makes snipe viewed in such a bad way is, like I mentioned above, the fact that in doing so you are removing yourself from 75% of the risk of the engagement. Choosing to evade out and snipe instead of stand in the melee and dstab, while a valid and legitimate tactic, is you choosing to lessen your risk while losing nothing offensively. For those that only melee, those that only snipe have an easy ride, and thus are frowned upon.

Does anyone know where the most updated version of Dorn's Blademaster counter might be floating around? Or some other modern equivalent? I've obtained a copy of one, but it feels pretty dated.

So uh serpent. I have no clue wtf I'm doing. Like if I don't get momentum I'm completely fuxd and getting momemtum is a bit tricky at the moment. Suggestions?

You're a gentleman and a scholar. Counts still feel a little imprecise, (Coming from Runewarden with simpler counting, perhaps) but I can tinker with that.

@Deladan spam queue your dstab to go through as soon as you get balance back. This practice is worth an artefact. And I think avoid dstabbing redundant afflictions. Do you track afflictions?
Yes and no. I track what they eat, and can infer from that what they cured. I probably should use AK but... I'm too stupid to get it looking like I want it to look. (Not really, just lazy af)

The way that counter is set up (assigning a damage value to each attack, and setting the threshold based on the target's max health) doesn't do a very good job of accounting for the health scaling of the limb damage for each attack. It's accounted for roughly by the health ranges for each breakpoint getting smaller at higher health, but since arm/leg/centreslash scale a little slower than compass (with a larger flat damage component), thresholds that were perfectly accurate for limbslashes alone wouldn't be if you started mixing in compasses. That said, since it's usually optimal to use limbslashes whenever possible, just basing the thresholds on them is probably good enough for most cases.
From a quick look at the actual damage numbers in the script, there are a couple pretty obvious potential sources of inconsistencies that should be pretty easy to fix. From what I've seen, base limbslash damage on the strong side should always be 1.5x the weak side (up to rounding errors). Stances and bands work identically, at least in terms of damage bonuses: if you assign each stance a numeric level (thyr=-4, mir=-2, unstanced=-1, sanya=0, doya=1, arash=2), the total damage adjustment is (5% of base damage)*(stance_level+band_level). So in sanya with no band, you do the same damage as unstanced with a level 1 or in mir with a level 2, and so on. In general, it looks like the counter is probably overestimating damage in Thyr, Mir, and Arash, relative to Sanya.
How does aeon + amnesia interact these days? Does amnesia eat the start of the command or do you need to not have amnesia when the 1 second delay ends?

Last I was aware (which was probably a couple years ago now, not sure how likely it is to have changed), the amnesia ate the actual action after the delay, but the sluggish line would clear the amnesia. So if you have amnesia in aeon/ret and send a single command, you get the sluggish line, wait a second, and nothing happens. But if you send two commands at once, you get two sluggish lines, wait a second from the last one, and the second action goes through; you don't have to wait for the full second for the first command to clear the amnesia. Not sure what would happen if you don't have amnesia when you send the command, but get it during the aeon delay. I would guess that it wouldn't affect that command, but would eat the next one, but have no evidence one way or the other.
Edit: @Penwize's comment here, and some of the surrounding discussion, is a bit at odds with my understanding. His example scenario requires the TOUCH AMNESIA command to eat the amnesia without resetting the retardation timer, allowing the first command to go through, whereas I would have expected it to give a sluggish line and clear the first command; but I would also expect it not to be necessary, on the assumption that the amnesia check for the first action is done when the command is received, so that amnesia acquired after sending it but before it going through would not affect it (but would remain in place for the next command).
That's always been my experience. I always managed to cure concussions in aeon by double-applying restoration. The first one ate the amnesia even before it resolved, the second one overrode the first and actually went through before the amnesia recurred.

What are some strategies against jester for priest? The only thing I've heard IC/OOC from others is 'run them out of WP' which seems like a pretty awful and boring strategy.
