You know, this event has been awesome. For that, I'd like to that @Nicola, @Makarios, and @Ictinus, as well as the other admin. The Tsol'teth RP has been steller, albeit the god-teleport hiccup. I think that city leaders really have stepped up, such as @Penwize, @Eril, @Dunn, @Farrah, @Andraste, @Cooper, and @Krizal and made this interesting for the rest of us. I have never once felt excluded from the 'main event' and always seem to be missing something completely awesome every time I log off. Each day is a twist and turn that my mind doesn't see coming. Everything seems to have meaning and everyone seems keen on fighting it out!
@Taryius has been funny since this event started. Not a day has gone by where you have not made me laugh. Not to mention, @Tesha has been 'maniacally merciless' and helped further conflict that I took great joy in. @Adrik has been an amazing 'battle buddy' against the tide. He always seems to be helping out and has helped coordinate drops with me, and has spent hours teaching others how to drop meld shrines- which is worthy of commendation in my opinion. @Skye has crooked me 3-6 times, which is AWESOME. I couldn't and still can't believe she would do it for someone like me.
While I cannot thank all the people in this event individually, Cyrene really has stepped up and taken an active role in helping the realms combat evil and destruction. I cannot express how cool this is to see it happen- and not just the PvP aspects. I've seen them lead tide clears, help take down shrines, and more. Ashtan and Targossas both focus on their specific goals, and coordinated efforts have led to the most fun of circumstances. They have included ALL of their members and have taken the time to explain this event to anyone who asks- excellent! Lets be honest, Hashan hasn't even complained about the kick to the nuts they got for teaming with Tsol'teth, so that's awesome as well! Eleusis really has stepped up and put themselves out there as a REAL member of the coalition, putting in time and work and showing us just how awesome the village can be when they put their mind and heart into things.
Maybe I'm just in a good mood. Maybe I'm not. This has been such a wild ride so far and it's not over yet.
Now, everyone knows that you should always end a rave about your partner. @Tianondria, you rock. Thank you for putting up with my antics and self-destructive tendencies when it comes to fragment/raid/guard bash antics. I appreciate you, completely.
Can't wait for the Crusade tonight, Oorah.
Edit! I almost forgot those holding the fragments! This is a very boring and mundane task that @Mindshell, @Lii, @Adrik, @Nakhti, @Kuririn, and many, many more have undertaken to safeguard the work of others (and themselves!). Thank you.
The Divine voice of Twilight echoes in your head, "See that it is. I espy a tithe of potential in your mortal soul, Astarod Blackstone. Let us hope that it flourishes and does not falter as so many do."
Aegis, God of War says, "You are dismissed from My demense, Astarod. Go forth and fight well. Bleed fiercely, and climb the purpose you have sought to chase for."
A big thank you for @Neraeos who made it possible to hold a sea snail race around Polyargos for the Okeanos festival. The sea snails were awesome and the mechanics were much nicer than I had in mind originally.
To whichever admin was shouting as refugee citizens from Cyrene, asking for help and direction.
Thank you!
I genuinely felt a gut punch when that mother asked if her children will be safe.
Here's to hoping some of those refugees actually make it to Eleusis.
Any chance you have logs? I keep missing all of that
I log everything. Will see about cleaning it up and posting it somewhere.
As Requested, here's that little interaction. Somehow it does not seem to have the same punch it had IG but still.
It all started with:
A citizen of the First has outlived his usefulness and has been sentenced to immediate reprocessing.
And then this followed:
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "See That Hashan, when you have outlived your usefulness. That's your future!"
Telen, an irascible drunkard shouts, "Not that I blame ya. It's hopeless. Why bother?"
The air vibrates as the voice of Accipiter, Fixer of Things Since 269AF thrums loudly, "Your reprocessing is closer than ours Athelas."
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "Telen enjoy your drink while the rest of us fight. FIGHT Sapience! Take a look at those next to you. With the exception of Hashan. You are heroes!"
Stray Cat Lenn Longshanks, Spectral Smith shouts, "Nothing's hopeless, if it seems hopeless then you're just not doing it right."
Telen, an irascible drunkard shouts, "Iunno, I take a look from these battlements and all I see is that godsdamned fog."
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "Telen I might fall. I might even pass to the halls of hell once more. But I will not bow, I will not kneel. I'd die a thousand deaths upon the altar of freedom. And then a thousand more."
Telen, an irascible drunkard shouts, "Yea, then you'd be dead. Big whoop."
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "Look harder Telen, I've been having trouble finding fog to fight."
Telen, an irascible drunkard shouts, "I ain't get it. You not bowin' doesn't make you or the people you love any less dead."
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "Of course you don't get it Telen. May you live for ever."
Telen, an irascible drunkard shouts, "Hah! Live forever! What a godawful curse that'd be."
A disheveled refugee shouts, "Please, you all have to do -something- to stop this madness..."
A haggard mother shouts, "I just want to go home. Will Cyrene ever be free again?"
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "We are, stay strong friends. We may lose some battles, but the war will be ours."
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "We all weep for Cyrene, but every tear will be paid for!"
Viscount Minifie Lichlord, Subjugator of His Legion booms from near the heights of attainment, "Swear fealty to His majesty, and perhaps you can be made use of cleaning the streets of Mhaldor as your new home!"
A haggard mother shouts, "But what if they come for Mhaldor next? Will my children survive?"
Viscount Minifie Lichlord, Subjugator of His Legion booms from near the heights of attainment, "They will survive if they prove strong, otherwise what chance have they now? Ensure your choice is made wisely."
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "Mother, see to your children. None can say who will live or die, but among us, there will be those who protect you and your children, we might die, but we'll stand between you and the Tsol'teth."
Telen, an irascible drunkard shouts, "Didn't work out so great last time, eh?"
The crackle of lightning surrounds you as you shout, "Refugees of Cyrene! Find your way to Eleusis, you will find refuge and kindness here. Without the need to bend before anyone. We too might fall, but we'll never stop fighting."
Just noticed the main website CSS got updated. Dat combo of Montserrat and Cinzel fonts, mmmmm-mm!
Now if that's not a thing of beauty to rave about, I don't know what is.
They broke (or intentionally disabled?) the functionality of the site on mobile in the process, making it more effort for me to navigate around the one part of the site I use (Portal/News/Messages), so not exactly a fan.

I regularly use the mobile site when I'm at work and stuff, so I noticed that myself. The expand menu doesn't expand anymore.
I was mid checking messages and that drop down was working... and then it wasn't.
It's weird because if I open the messages page on the desktop website and flip it into mobile mode via Chrome dev tools, that dropdown works... but not on mobile. Hmmmm.

It's possible that mobile is using the mobile version of jQuery to handle that - which can be set via user agent rather than screen resolution, and it's flubbed up with some of the updates. I'd be more inclined to believe that the expand trigger was based on a class that is no longer present with the update instead of based on element name or ID tag though, but that's just where I'd start.
That would explain why it works on chrome desktop with mobile resolutions, but not on a mobile device though. Yaaaaay programming.
Had some fun with the event yesterday, big thanks to whoever was pulling the strings of Hailqas'an as I had my first solo interaction with a Denizen...well technically they are adventurers I guess...but fun none-the-less
A rave for @Dunn and @Hirst for leading that 30+ person group into Hashan last night.
As a person new to this sort of thing, having leaders who were clear, commanding, PATIENT, and encouraging made a really big difference in my enjoyment! I was excited to get back into the fray even after dying over and over and over and over and over!
Thank you to whomever did this (within about 30 seconds of me resubmitting even)!
Message #2316 Sent by Achaea 2019/5/04/23:52 Your bug report (detail: The Seaspell HUNGER is not listed on the SEASPELLS LIST. For no explained reason, when I submitted this recently it was classified to Low Priority, and then a few days later dismissed as 'not being a bug', with no explanation. Please correct this.) - has been fixed.
This is a bit late, but last theme I selected Easy, and got "participate in a rampage". Now, I do like combat, and had been trying to learn how to 1v1 a long time ago, but I simply didn't have time to along with everything else I wanted to do in game.
I received my renown as soon as I entered the arena, but I went ahead and tried to participate, even though I really didn't know what I was doing. I couldn't remember all the steps I needed to take in order to get my instakill, so I sucked pretty majorly.
However, the thing is... It made me want to learn. It drew my attention to a portion of the game that I haven't touched for a long time, and made me want to try it again. You might say it.... (wait for it)... engaged me. Ahem.
I don't know if I WILL try learning 1v1 again, but I love the effect this had on me, and I suspect future adventures will probably also have the same effect. It's super cool.
I also really like the rewards they went with after feedback, and hope I may have the patience to save up for an artefact... That would take me at least a real life year though, so I'd have to be a lot more patient than I've ever been. Here's hoping.
I have done very little today, but I still feel exhausted.
Which is why my rave goes to Cyrene and the rest of the current Coalition. I don't know how you all stay consistent doing the things you do, and still keep your spirits up, but it helps me keep trudging along.
"Alas. Alas for Hamlin. The Mayor sent east, west, north, and south. To offer the Piper by word of mouth. Wherever it was men's lot to find him, silver and gold to his heart's content. If only he'd return the way he went."
[13:35:56:411] Thank you. Your bug, bug #4105, has been submitted. 2019/5/11/1:36 Your bug report (detail: There is a tsol'teth shrine in petra (room number 47283) which cannot be cleared, due to it being in the middle of the farm. The farm is not accessed via normal means, so it's impossible for the tide to spread there, thus the shrine cannot be cleared.) - has been fixed.
I may not be huge on the event itself, but hot damn these bug fix times have been on point. (also sorry for the slightly frequent filings; lesson learned!)
I tried staying up for the event today, after being up all day yesterday and all night, but as 10am approached I had to call it as everything was getting set up. At the very least, I'm really glad to have woken up to see the Cyrenian Resistance retake the city. It's a huge victory for a city-state that peace over war, but shows just the lengths they're willing to go to in defense of their home. Thanks as well to everyone who wasn't even Cyrenian who pitched in to help. It was amazing to see the support that came through.
Also, listening to the Game of Thrones soundtrack while clearing tide rooms is a pretty great experience in and of itself.
Parts of this event have been gruelling, but other parts have been incredible. In the short span of everything that has transpired so far, I've spoken and interacted with more people outside of my small circle now than I have in my entire time playing.
This event has helped nudged my character into being a lot more dogmatic, xenophobic, and far less passive. Which is a direction I've wanted to steer towards for awhile now.
I want to give my thanks to the admin who have been working hard behind the scenes. Dealing with all us goofs. And a special thanks to @Makarios
We all hope that you're okay, and that you'll be well soon. You're missed.
"Alas. Alas for Hamlin. The Mayor sent east, west, north, and south. To offer the Piper by word of mouth. Wherever it was men's lot to find him, silver and gold to his heart's content. If only he'd return the way he went."
Wow so... like a bunch of hours later I'm sitting at work now and still kinda processing it. I've basically been on sleep deficit for most of the week, and I furiously made up for as much as I could over the hours before the event, but I'm pretty sure I'm still on one hell of a deficit.
I wanna thank @Nicola and @Neraeos and the whole Garden for giving me a chance to get involved in this. I know how much of a step it is for a rogue to pull off that sort of stunt in an event that's so focussed on cities (as so many events are!), so I know I muscled my way into an incredible opportunity.
Bet y'all were also surprised when Skye said she could do the thing that nobody thought she was physically capable of doing, it's been my ace in the hole for a number of years now and I am so glad I made the investment when I did.
Plus, thank you for not posting the super embarrassing/incriminating log of Skye's dealings hahaha. I'm still hoping that you don't! I had a lot of fun writing it and making adjustments right to the eleventh hour. I'm still actually really proud of it. Only a scant few on discord have actually seen parts of it while I was pounding it out and even fewer have seen the whole thing so I'll probably post it at a later point once the hubbub has died down.
I also want to thank @Penwize and @Keorin and @Voc (my partner in crime!) for always having an open ear, this has been hard on cities and it would've been easy to just tell me to fuck off cause it's none of my rogue business, but you let me get some ideas in and kept me abreast whenever you remembered. If you never let me in on it, I don't think I would've gotten a foot in the door at all.
And props to Cyrene as a whole especially for really rising to the occasion. Nobody would have ever thought it possible to see the Heart of the Vashnars furiously raiding, defending and doing all the things that the others say Cyrene would never do. I'm super proud of them for pulling this off. There were some points where I seriously panicked and thought 'gdi we're running out of time', but somehow by admin grace (no doubt!) and sheer persistence they somehow pulled it off. I hope this will become a turning point for the city's identity, so don't get too comfortable on your reclaimed territory!
And of course finally @Melodie for the key and certain lost opportunities. May there always be another.
ETA: Oh! And I nearly forgot. @Eril my god, Eril. if you weren't there I don't know what we would've done about those shrines, pulling sovereignty from right under their noses! You're a fuckin hero and probably the MVP in this. Any number of solutions could've come for dealing with guards and everything else, but the shrines was all you making the effort to be there.
