I've actually really enjoyed this icon stuff, even if it does all happen when I am at work or sleeping. azn time yaknow.

It's given a good sense of Mtown V everything and even though there seems to be a lot of bitterness, I'm sure it's giving a better sense to the worldwide factions. Alliances are being made stronger, and Mhaldor is becoming more infamous. We'll loose our icon, today likely, but that's fine. Mhaldor used it as a weapon rather than the passive stat booster, so nothing is really lost and I think that falls well into terms with Mhaldor's ideals.

On the downside, the level of bitterness I've seen on it is pretty bad. I know Mhaldor is the bad guys, but all the offhanded and passive aggressive stuff. Just bleh. It's a game, we're the bad guys, we do mean things. Don't go on a holy rant and damn the Mhaldorian characters as well as their players. I like to think I'm still a good guy...sometimes.

And Mhaldor, for shame. Say nothing in victory and less in defeat, or however that saying goes.
I've had a lot of fun with it overall, too. And always nice to get a little raiding practice with experienced leaders.

Props to M-town. We did really well against Hashan and Eleusis for that Icon defense. I think everyone was tired as it was nearing the end. That in itself was a pretty awesome morale booster. Good turnout, don't regret wasting 2 million on the Icon. Get to sleep, ppl!
    2 million gold.....

     I want 2 million gold :(

Just to offer my meager two cents as an Achaean-but-not-MUD-newbie...

I don't know if this is just me, or is a common thing, but I had a bit of negative experience (not enough to be a deterrent! Just something relevant to the discussion) with people assuming I already knew the basics. I did grasp the -basic- basics, and maybe that's what threw people, but I didn't learn a lot of things that made life loads easier until much later, after interacting and speaking to people OOC--things like traits, specialisation, waterwalking boots (OMG wish I knew about -those- sooner!) and so on.

I -am- coming from a game that's way more heavily bent toward RP than (what I've seen of) Achaea is, and so I admittedly responded to most 'Hi newbie-person how are you?' prompts with emotes or in-character discussion or observations. Maybe that's what threw people, too!

So my point is, while it's great to interact and skip the basics, I think it's important to at least offer them, too. Having loads of alts and being used to working with alts can sometimes blind us to the needs of real newbies, or result in us taking a lot of 'general info' for granted. It's a careful line somewhere!

I make it a point to ask the novice if they are familiar with x basic concept, and if they need a refresher. If they don't, and they seem to not need further guidance in the uber-basics, then I proceed to the UNDERWORLD, HONORS MOBS, NO POTASH, FINAL DESTINATION training regime.

I'm new to this mentor thing. Am I doing it right?

Valnurana has undertaken the patronage of our Great House.
    Fix'd it for you.

It's not a great house and hasn't been in ages. It's just a house. It's just a shadow of its former glory.

  • Coming from someone who has no idea what the house was like when I did quit. You came in when most of the house either left because of how far it had fell, or went dormant due to it. Come at me when you learn it's past, and can perform any sort of combat. Oh wait y'all have no one who does it. Whose been on the right side of the deathsight and not during a raid. Y'all got none. Never will because of how the house is.

Thus it's not a great house, just a house. Full of lazy serpents, who betray their arts. "Neglect your art, and it'll neglect you" house is obvious proof of it.

Shut up, Valnurana is awesome, and that makes it a great house. I will pk you to like level 20 if you say otherwise.
Have nothing wrong with Valnurana don't get me wrong, the house in general isn't a great house and I know others who have been in it around same time as me before the change in patron would agree. House is just a shadow and always will be now of it's former self.

I imagine the Serpentlords are just as capable of learning how to buy a bow, not go anywhere near an actual fight and snipe as the Naga are.

Lol you obviously don't know the SL then, about has useless as the city and will be. They have no desire for learning anything besides sit in the tree all day talking about who knows what. No combat desire what so ever like it used to be. Even attempts to make it combat are / is against how they stand now.

  • That was a rave! Valnurana is on my list of divine to convert to Aurora, along with Gaia (need sentinels and/or Rangor), and you (epic looking brownies)!

A serious rave (not that the above is not totally serious!) is Targossas' CWHO has been tons bigger lately. So good to see so many!

And that's why I set my history to private, so no one can see the shite writing I did at fourteen.

  • Kinilan's is the best.

  • I fully support the SL's getting a new Matron, and hope that it'll inject a little somethin' somethin' into both their House and Hashan.

The status quo sucks. Row row, fight the powah.

They should really let you wipe your background. I can understand why they don't allow you to change it. What some people put in there was... awful.

Rave: I actually did a decent job of it for Katz, no regrets. :)

                   Honourable, knight eternal,

                                            Darkly evil, cruel infernal.

                                                                     Necromanctic to the core,

Depending on when your character was created, there is an option to redo it.  Once.
