After almost five straight hours of designing, I am finally done with the hardest bit of the preparations (for me). Thank god. My brain is so fried right now and I'm still in the office ahhhh

Now I have to go home and scramble around to finish the rest of the loose ends, but at least this one is taken care of. I hope. *prays*

Just so we are all clear, discipline is expected at all times in Mhaldor. Among the most helpful things you can do for the Lord's city, letting the dogs out is not one of them. We have yet to find the culprit(s) for this crime, so be on the lookout for whoever is unleashing said canines aloof.

@Jurixe The Gala was incredible, and the amount of effort put in for it was great to see.

While I'm sad more heathens chose not to attend, it was good to see some cast aside their differences, for whatever reason, and stay for the whole thing.

I'm so exhausted but I have been waiting weeks to be able to write this post because it means the Gala is done, and I refuse for there to be more rants post regarding the Gala (even if not directly about it) so I will outdo all of them with my single, super-long, completely biased raves post. So there.

Oh god where do I even start. The idea for a ball was one that had been proposed a long time ago, now, but I didn't think there was interest at the time. Recently (two months ago), the idea came up again, and this time with a swing of converts to Mhaldor I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give Mhaldorians a reason to socialise, and so I asked @Tecton 'Hi, so what do you think I could do to maybe host a ball?' He said 'Email events and we'll see!' and the rest is history. I'm still somewhat in a state of shock, because I can't believe I actually managed to pull it off (with a great, great deal of help).

Time for a few facts:

1. Originally, the idea was for the ball to be Mhaldorian-only, but I was so worried about the event being disrupted by raids, shrine defilings and whatnot (not necessarily intentional, but outsiders just probably wouldn't have known about it if it was kept in the city) that I decided to send out those invitations to each city. I included the option to attend if they really wanted to, but I really didn't expect anyone to accept but Ashtan and perhaps Hashan. The main point of the invitations was to say 'hi, we're having an event at X time, would appreciate it if you would not raid around now' ICly, without me having to resort to OOC messages because, well, I just don't like having to do that. Would it have been interesting if they had accepted? Sure. But I also think that Mhaldorians might not have been able to let loose and enjoy themselves as much if they had simply by virtue of them being enemies and not wishing to be too casual around them, so I think it's a good tradeoff.

2. Hence the steep fees (though to be honest, I didn't think the fees were steep!). The 100k temporary unenemying was originally something I reserved only for the city leaders if they wanted to come, it wasn't for all. Most people would likely never have been able to go at all. The tight restrictions on participation was because I remembered what the Theran soiree was like, the incredible crush of people, and that was the primary thing I wanted to avoid. I wanted to allow those present to be able to enjoy themselves and appreciate the food, music, performances etc without getting lost in spam. This is also the reason for the slave non-attendance restriction, but I made available ample opportunity to slaves who wanted to participate and I think it was a nice touch to reinforce the Mhaldorian hierarchy system.

3. The Naga performance was a side thing that I'd thought would be a nice bonus, but ended up having to be a last-minute full performance and despite that, I thought (you'll have to forgive me for bias) that it ended up doing very well to break up the other intricate performances. 

4. There would have been no food without @Phaestus and without @Kyrra and @Kaevan. Thank you, thank you so much. 

5. With 30-40 attendees, just the admittance alone took an hour to do because I like adding all this extra unnecessary stuff and had @Nakari check invitations, @Bonko check for weapons (like real security) and then announce each one. I dunno about anyone else, but I liked it - but then I always like this stuff.

I've had bad internet for a week or more and I'm so glad it sort of got fixed yesterday and I didn't dc during our performance. Very glad this happened and am very pleased with the EF performance being done by several members! Thanks to @Jurixe for the idea, @Ruth for keeping the house together while I was having problems logging in, @Orzaansyn, @Cesarina, @Hayte, and @Micaelis for the ossum participation! The whole Mhaldor cru and those nice Ashtanis for being a part of this! Lastly the admin for making it possible and helping us make the Ebon Fist exhibit be creepy/ossum. So much happiness wheee!!
