Yeah, that's what happened. This is the interwebs though so there are all kinds of people *shrugs*. I just wanted to bring to light something that happened in the hopes that others will see it and go "oh that is kinda mean, maybe I won't do that".
Griefiness is just going to happen sometimes, Kaylalee. That's why it's so important to be able to have at least some real hope of recourse if you're a non-titan, non-top tier guy who wants to PK sometimes.
Some of the people here have been playing for well over a decade (some closer to 15 years at this point), and many are professional or semi-professional coders, and have every artifact that exists. So while you should absolutely want to, and strive to improve, there is zero shame in calling for (and hopefully sometimes getting) help from equally titan-ish people in your faction. You're going to need it.
Hiring isn't shameful - just often ineffective. It's better than it used to be, because now you have a chance to get one of the guys who really can and will just kill anyone, "buddy" or not. Also, you really want to have some kind of emergency alias that gives your EXACT location and says that you ARE in distress (probably over party) that you can just phat finger in a panic.
Hey now! @Bleak completes contracts usually, and so does @Rangor. Is uh...Ashtan taking applications? I don't think @Artemis would mind me in Ashtan too much I think.
Lesson 4 : When you are getting frustrated, walk away and take a break. This does wonders for your rationality
Lesson 5: if one death frustrates you, don't pk. Plenty of other aspects of the game to enjoy.
(We should have a pk lesson thread where we can posted reasonable advice for the first four or five pages, at which point it turns into insults and counter productive mockery: Lesson 5785: don't be a tool, @Datrius)
I'm honestly not sure if this is about me getting frustrated and walking away yesterday, lol, cause that had to do with things besides just one death.
No no, I was just picking and you had posted last!
It reminds me we need to bring back version 3.0 of the Achaean memes at some point. Haven't had a good thread to constantly laugh at (without feeling a little guilty) in a while.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
I'm with Patty. Suck it up, eat the death, move on. People spend entirely too much effort trying to avoid this type of thing. It's a single death. While he comes across as an ass sometimes, I've always found Proficy pretty reasonable if you just stand your ground and fight him. Relax burst, just in case you really pissed him off, and do your best. Learn something from the fight. After you pray, you're golden
Yup. Just grepped logs, I'm at 142 deaths this month (probably at 150 but lost a few logs due to mudlet crashes). Crying about one or two deaths after you were involved ganking someone is not worth it.

I could tell you exactly how many but T rekt my script for a few weeks
So, I'm probably one of those awful people that everyone referenced who would come back from previous fights and attack the various parties. I'm good with that. I would like to explain, I suppose, how I pick and choose on that. Basically my metric is this: If me and the rest of Ashtan are rolling around and we are all fighting group v. group, I won't follow up on anything, that's bonkers. If I sign on at an odd hour, and it's a shardfall and I sneak in and 9 of you steamroll me trying to subvert, I might come for you.
I think some of you think that's shitty because I was free pk at the time. It's the same though if you jump a mark or a dauntless and they come back and stomp you. I've always considered the 9 v 1 steamroll to be something that's rather talentless and really ought to be discouraged unless both sides have enough, but I also understand that during an event like this, the goal means more. I've found, though, that when someone is following a leader and lolsmashes me with their hunting script, and I come back to kill them later, they're less likely to just mindlessly kill random people because someone else said to.
Sometimes, these groups are so short-sighted, you'll attack the next month, and they'll say "I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO YOU, IM ISSUING." I actually had a group a few months ago, well after I relinquished, I deffed up, chilled for a minute then went to walk back to Ashtan. I hit a group of about 8-9 on clouds and just got dropped. I came back and killed nearly all of them, and many of them said "That's really not fair, I didn't know you weren't an avatar." Those tears are so meaningless. You killed someone when you shouldn't have because another person told you to. If you can't deal with dying, don't PK.
Also, @Torinn if you wondered about the time I killed you, you delivered someone that I was killing so I killed you.

Both sides are actually guilty of this. There's been a few times the Nihilists have done the same thing -right- after a relinquish. Mistakes happen, especially since there's no global announce that someone relinquished.

People in Targ are willing to help. I fight Proficy pretty much every day at some point, just need a tell saying he hit you and we can go.
He will come back again though.
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
