Pretty sure tagging someone you mentioned without the post directly addressing them a single time isn't abuse.
Maybe I'm wrong, but how about you all take a goddamn chillpill and get back to discussing this revelation so that we can murder Gattan'bahar and I can sleep peacefully at night.
If you're getting wrongly accused of ganking, then might as well just do it anyway. What are they gonna do, accuse you some more? Edit: got popped by Proficy as I wrote this. worth.
Really, though. I'm really enjoying this event; from fighting the Tide spawns to trying to restore shrines to looking into the histories for any clues, the Black Wave has been a really neat series of events.
No idea what's going on but Devran is like... 40something. (Lived in the forge.) If I go to the normal areas a 40something would be hunt, will I find these fun mobs that give sweet exp and gold?

Filthy. Casual.
Actually throwing hundreds of dollars at grinding to Legendary Blacksmith before level 50 is more hardcore than anything you've ever done. Now I got sick blacksmith muscles. Women want me. Men want to be me.

Yes..also ftfy
I have always enjoyed your posts. I hope Devran bumps into your character at some point for glorious hilarity.

Honestly. Other day I had a great time. Proficy was coming after shards and I was like 'fukfukfukfuk GUYS WE NEEDS HARDS" and so, we had two people make the ultimate sacrifice (tm).
Namely in that they just fucking harassed his ass and kept him busy while I ran around screaming in the middle of the fog grabbing splinters. 10/10 would do again.

Because yes, if you start jump people while they're fighting the Tide, others are going to defend them. It's not lame. It's not bad RP. People are worried about the Tide taking over the fking continent! They're working together to fight it off.
Like this. @Florentino ganked me while I was fighting at a shrine earlier. Say something on CT, here comes the crew. He runs off, and he's like, I'LL GET YOU MY PRETTY, EEEEEHEHEHEHE. Like come on bro. I don't mind dueling if someone's reasonable, but damn, ganking me while I bash is really shitty. Ganking me while I bash Tide critters is super shitty.
I'm glad some people are reasonable, like you, @Farrah. 'Hey I'm not grabbing splinters, just killing Tidecritters.' and you're like k, and I don't get shit on. Folks like you help make the OMG END OF THE WORLD event a bit more bearable(Not that it isn't enjoyable already). Thanks.
I sometimes wish the Qashar was still a thing so people could realize that everything they thought was "griefy and horrible" about the game currently is in fact, the "for babies" version with padded centers and rounded edges.
You don't know even know what a killroom is. It gets very tempting to show people sometimes.
Ah yes, I still go to therapy sessions from those days

I feel you on this man, but...some of us have literally spent tens of thousands of dollars on this/these games >.>
Regarding Legendary Smith, I was second to get it after Ellodin, it's really not "hard" per-se, nor even "time-consuming," it's just "expensive." For me, Lady Czanthria did the necessary calculations to save me as much gold as possible by picking the most efficient descriptors, i still went way over 2,500cr. "Alabaster" and "diamond edged" if I remember correctly are the same efficiency, but Alabaster costs much less. If you have the necessary commodities in hand, you'll be done pretty fast. It's doing the research and obtaining the comms at a good price that's really the hard part.
I do think being Legendary Smith is pretty darn cool, and with these new additions recently, it's become more than worth it in terms of game mechanics.
@Daeir : I think I've seen one thing that had to be a kill room in my character's lifetime. I was in Arcane Kindred, one of our members betrayed us to Mhaldor, and they planned it really good and then they made good on the planning.
[X]-[Z]-[Y] | |
Room X contained three serpents with bows. Room Y contained our Master Crystal with literally all of Mhaldor. They were after the Master Crystal and were draining it. We had to go to the room Z between them and somehow try to dislodge the defense. I think the kill room was Z. It was simply not possible to dislodge them. All of Cyrene, including all the help we could get from other places was just rekt over and over and over again and in the end we simply had to let them sit there until they were done. However, the Kindred Master Crystal had millions and millions of facets, so even with free reign over it, they still had to leave a joke wormhole (they didn't defend it) for us and left eventually.
Probably the most futile defense situation I've ever been part of, but you gotta give Mhaldor props for setting it up.

I'm one of them, bud. But considering the comment about being wanted that I put in that post I didn't figure so many people would think I was being serious.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
People want bounties? I'll give 'em fuckin' bounties. Besides, bitches get stitches. Or murdered to death 'cause their a pain in my ass. Whichever works.
I sometimes wish the Qashar was still a thing so people could realize that everything they thought was "griefy and horrible" about the game currently is in fact, the "for babies" version with padded centers and rounded edges.
It's kind of inevitable. New people come in, see the current top of the griefy behavior and that's excessive to them, because the part which was way worse and used to be excessive for us was dealt with.
Regarding duels, cause counting and etc: I still say we need PK levels. Even if they have no game effect, they'd still be a better measure of how evenly matched up two combatants are than what we currently have.

Honestly, you can always tell who the heavy hitters are. They're the ones who you see regularly curb stomping folks on deathsight, or raiding because they're bored, or just generally being griefy because they have the 'might is right and I'm counting cause' mentality because they have the arties to back them up. Usually most of those folks are pretty fair about their fighting and won't be griefy. However, events like this tend to bring out the worst in people and starts a pissing contest between groups seeing who can be griefier. It's the main reason I'm against global events like this where @Makarios has specifically set the rules, and outside of issuing there's no real way to reign it in by all parties. I'm very stringent on issuing myself, simply because I only use it like it's supposed to be used, as a last ditch resolution where you're getting the powers that be involved.
I agree wholeheartedly. I began this event having never really fought before. I am level 90 and never offensively raided, I didn't even have defense sets set up properly that's how much if a noob at pvp i was. I have learned a great deal and think I'm getting better but lately I've really been turned off from participating because I ultimately feel like I don't matter. I'm not dragon, I don't have tons of artefacts, and I can't fight one on one versus someone who makes PvP their focus even if they're lower level. Then I get shit on because when I do fight it's with others more knowledgeable than myself and not honourable 1v1. And then those combatants who make PvP their life come around later and roflstomp me for participating in PvP the only way I have a chance at. I take it all in stride but it's just real shitty all around. Farrah and antidas and others of Targossas have been amazing but it's still super discouraging.
And that's why I don't participate in combat any more (not that I ever participated much, but I used to defend against raids and such). I really don't like the 'let's go kill the easily killable person instead of the one who might be a challenge' mentality.
Group composition and individual classes play huge into these events as well. Ashtan as a group can practically instajib anyone they want because they have crazy huge instant synergy based classes. Targ has the same sort of situation if they can work together and by extension the coalition does. The problem is you've got a LOT of people from different styles of orgs and life trying to work together, and there's still growing pains on that front.
The real frustration comes in depending on your class too. The instant gratification classes in this are the ones that can either whip out a crazy amount of damage quick (knights, BM, monk, Sylvan, Druid) , or the ones who're able to use an instakill based on afflictions/mana (absolve, brokenstar, tzantza, incinerate, enlightenment, aurify). Other classes that have a lot of wind up aren't as likely to have the ability to get those kills are mostly a support role that will have a hell of a time dealing with groups.
I'm a Jester, I've been a Jester a long time. I'd like to think I'm half decent at it, by no means @Sobriquet levels. I have no illusions if I'm in Avatar I'm about to get stomped. There's no way to escape if I'm perma paralysed and prone, even with somersault. I've bought artefacts, and being a Jester with acrobatics and mounted I'm moderately tanky. There's plenty of folks who don't have the defensive artefacts I do who have even less of a chance when people start steamrolling.
Once the group ganking behavior is signed off on and is clearly a mechanic to 'win' so to speak, it no longer becomes fun. Especially when despite the rules for PK have been written, and people are saying that there's 'grey areas' or that because you have 'intent' you're open season. If you show up to a shard rolling five deep, guess what? I'm sure as FUCK not dropping my shield to try and take y'all on, just accept you're swinging the bigger dick, subvert, and continue your pimp walk.
