My theory is that since the Tide never touched the isle cause we worked our asses off to stop it when it came close, that we'll be last to be taken over by a shrine.
I've been seriously wondering if these prophecies we're studying have any real use whatsoever. If I see one more reference to the "Chosen One" I'm going to explode.
The Master's foresight is second to none. Hail Lord Sartan, the One who sees all!
Serious note though, since the tide started rolling we've averaged about 3 non-noob citizens online at any time. It seems most of our newer up and comers were alts who have been playing on other characters for the event. So even stopping the tide from going into the path to Mhaldor has required a lot of work from those of us who have been around.
While the geography is definitely helpful, there's also been an effort from our peeps to make sure to keep things at arm's length. It started spreading into the Northern Vashnars recently, and that was when I caught it and we started making sure to keep an eye on it and fight it back. I was worried it was going to spread further because it was outpacing us for a bit - thankfully, a couple of us spent a long night or three to make sure that didn't happen.
Assumptions, guys. Some of y'all need to learn not to give into their temptations.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
@Cooper : would be nice if Mhaldor threw down the swords and put on suits and became lawyers. Your ability to snuff out Nature and surge the tides of Evil would go up exponentially, and you'd do it all dapper-like in front of a jury of your peers. That, and all the fancy suits are black. Mhaldor likes black.
Sartan v. Aurora & Deucalion would turn into a feel-good made-for-TV-special unprecedented since the movie Philadelphia.
I mean, you died to a fog critter. I'm assuming the -49hp is max health? Otherwise, what did you expect to happen walking around? It's dangerous 'round these parts right now!

No person should reasonably expect to be unstoppably instagibbed in 0.09s by mobs that hit for 4k+ damage while they're walking on the main roads (or literally anywhere that isn't a city at this point.) Sorry for trying to play and enjoy the game.

Suffer through it. You are not entitled to playing the game without dying. The world is in danger. Suck it up and accept the consequences of participating in a multiplayer game with world events

I'm not the only one that this happens to. Complete newbies also get subject to this kind of thing, as do people that do not want to participate in the event.
Plenty of ways to prevent nwbie death if you actually care about them, and warn them about what's going on. Explain the situation, offer portals, escorts, etc. How about instead of spoonfeeding people like you, we teach them how to play the game and get better at it?

It's easy to use the "lol deal with it nerd" argument when you're a heavily artifacted dragon and can put up with mobs that hit for more than a level 80's max health, but not everyone can or wants to be you. Try putting yourself in the place of someone who is new to the game and doesn't understand why they're repeatedly dying to incomprehensibly powerful things that are appearing in every lowbie area in the game so they can't even so much as bash, or to the person that doesn't play this game to mindlessly grind mobs 24/7 and just wants to harvest/quest/craft/RP in peace. You're basically telling them "Suck it up and accept your random massive XP and time loss, or check back in a couple months when you're allowed to play the game again."
Personally, I'm participating in the event on all four of my characters and I don't care if I lose a bit of XP. It's frustrating, but I get it back in ten minutes just bashing tide mobs. But this kind of occurrence is astonishingly unfair to people who don't want to participate in the event, or people who barely know how the game works, let alone the event itself. It needs to be fixed, either by making spawned mobs disappear faster when the spawner is not nearby or making them aggro slower so you can actually walk through rooms they're in without getting one-shotted in 90 milliseconds.
The point isnt to tell them to suck it up, it is to interact with them, explain what is going on, and to help them figure out how to deal with it. You just want to get spoonfed ezmode. Go take care of your noobs

You're more interested in trying to be a bully than actually presenting any kind of a competent point. When you can't even so much as go one post without being passive-aggressive or openly insulting somebody, maybe you should just stop posting and take your toxic behaviour somewhere else.

It just made it all even more adorable.

Some good points!
1. It's an event and it's not going to last forever.
2. People who don't want to play that way are discouraged from playing at all.
Both valid! Bravo! Moving on...
Maybe everyone would be satisfied if the spawns were not aggro to those who didn't summon/attack them?
