Once upon a time there was a whiny bitch who didn't know how to get good at a game she played. She cried and cried until she woke up the Trollgoth. Yea, did the Trollgoth mercilessly rip her into shreds with poignant argument. So great was his dunking of this pitiful excuse of garbage that she was reduced to Bleufing gifs for the rest of the thread. And thus did the Trollgoth walk in victory.

I don't think anyone is experiencing anything akin to victory here. On a side note, I'm enjoying the comes-to-you nature of the hunting for this event. Yay gold
Yeah, well, shit happens. This is a massive world-changing event with dire consequences and all the trimmings. This is not an opt-in event and everybody is affected by it.
An event like this can't feel like a threat if everybody can just ignore it without penalties. One of the major problems I have seen with events in other games is that they never actually felt like a threat and it was basically just possible to carry on life as usual throughout the entire thing. As such the effective stakes in the event were so low that nobody actually cared that the event was going on. I'd much rather see events like this one.

To be fair, all I'm caring about is how long it takes to get to gold cap.
First I cant help but admire @Adeleine 's varied concepts of stop gifs. Truly set a record there.
Second, this really went way too overboard for a simple complaint..
It all easily could have just been replied with this being a world event and only temporary, that danger is highly expected and needed to add to the atmosphere, and finally an apology if it seems rough but they can ask for help on how to avoid the danger if they like.

Nope. I'm already fully aware of the many ways to avoid said danger. But when you're running a lowbie character with no travel abilities, there's literally no way to avoid going into a tide area where potentially huge mobs have been spawned by people running through. Thus the ideas of fixing the problem that include despawning mobs faster if the spawner is dead/ran away, or making them take longer than a tenth of a second to aggro and attack you when you enter the room. Both are completely reasonable things to implement, and either one would make it a lot more possible to enjoy the game without worrying if you're going to walk into a randomly-placed instakill room with every single step you take outside the Cave.
Except that's spoonfeeding. Halstad and Asmodron are emphasizing what I've said: this is a world event. Be creative, and figure out ways to avoid the REAL DANGEROUS BADDIES, instead of just asking the adminto wave a magic wand because you need your imaginary XPs.This is a real, living world, and it doesn't have to cater to you, or anyone else. Just because you are too goddamn lazy to bother talking to yournoobs about it, and figuring out ways you can avoid it, doesn't mean that you get to go cry like a toddler on the forums with your puerile gifs to try and get things changed to your pussilanimous worldview. Grow the hell up. If you want to go play a fluffy noncom game with no dangers and plenty of giggles, I hear that Shangrila Mush is still up.
All the true noobs I've seen (as in unartefacted people who recent started) aren't complaining. Sure they die here and there, but once they learn where to go and what to do to HELP AVOID THE END OF THE FUCKING WORLD are not only enjoying themselves, but getting massive gold and experience most other noobs only dream of.
This is how it is in my little neck of the woods. Not sure where you're from, but we're obviously playing with different people.
Too bad you're not having as much fun as they are. Would hate to ruin it for them.

Cascades of quicksilver light streak across the firmament as the celestial voice of Ourania intones, "Oh Jarrod..."

An Ashtani let me into Lord Babel's shrine.
Killed the fucker who'd been stealing shards. Explored. Sat down and awaited death. Went up an explorer's rank too. All in all, definitely worth.

Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
