But I thought the Nihilists and Mhaldor were the griefers by ruining the chance for everyone to work together.
Did the forums lie to me?
It makes sense for some factions to work together, and doesn't make sense for others. For example, it does not make sense for Mhaldor to be in any sort of coalition to help other orders. It does make sense for Targossas to be in (ICly). I don't have a problem with the coalition as a whole, just what their members are doing.

I'm being facetious.
Besides, on an OOC level, I actually like the Tide mechanic. You can't tell me that a mechanic that spawns horrible supermobs for each person in a group, scaled to the level of the person spawning it, isn't the perfect "Stop grouping up and spamming your bashing macro" tool.
Let's take it a step further: Spawn Tide mobs at the appropriate elevation of the person and prevent it from spawning them while people are phased/astral/blackwinded and baby, you got a stew going.
I feel you guys. I stopped the splinter stuff because while the skirmishing was fun for a while, it [the coalition] got a little too griefy, even for me (I mean ffs, I could stand in the room with the Nihilists and they wouldn't even bother me after the splinter stuff was done).
I also feel you talking about people walking in and spawning shit. It doesn't matter where I go, I get a handful of people that basically swarm me when I'm killing shit. They walk in juuuust long enough to spawn stuff and then leave.
I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.
Some things I would loooove to see in this event (wishful fanciful thinking):
Screams of villages and denizens in the land being attacked by Black Wave monsters, just to add to the atmosphere. Basically just a small line code of "Villagers across the land scream in futility as a group of <ogres/goblinoids/beetles> ravage their form.
Large squads of Black wave monsters roaming the land, similar to Ormyrr, just so we can say "We just took out that large squad. Victory!".
I would love some form of score-board to check, such as: Tsol'teth currently control 68% of sapience, Resistance controls 30%, 2% unclaimed. Makes you feel you're really putting a dent in things when you see numbers change.
I would -adore- (delano) if the Tsol'teth could try to attack one of the major cities. God that would be insanely fun. Though I can picture some trolls out there (Begins with N, ends with lists) sitting on the side lines to try and get more killed -,-.
Idk man. I think the nihilists - who, in many cases, are super strong and can tank shit - chasing off the weaker-but-more-numerous coalition is a super interesting plot point.
And not everyone is being griefy about it. Many people on all three sides are trying to follow "the rules."
I like to think I've figured out who to follow in the coalition to avoid being griefy. I also like to think I've realized who on the other side isn't going to wombs me until it's okay to.
I apologize for my earlier blow up. I'm not mad at any person or faction, just the aggravation with that particular situation in the last few days has been building.

You are definitely right - not everyone in the coalition is being griefy. In fact, it's a minority of coalition members who are out of line. I should probably have said that in previous posts.
Part of the problem is that this was a massive, large scale event, so the admin couldn't ask ACC to help test this stuff. People went far above and beyond what was predicted, and they've been scrambling to fix one broken thing after another while also doing things like controlling the Tsol'teth, monitoring the Tide, etc. Every time something is fixed, people just move on to the next broken thing that wasn't being used before.
That all being said, I'm still having fun with this event. Mhaldor will just pick it's battles carefully, and we've all (as Mhaldorians) been working on separating ourselves from OOC attachment to "winning" this event. There are times we do well, and collect most/all of the splinters, but there are other times when it's 30v4 that it is pointless to even try.
@Cooper if people are following you phased to spawn creatures, just issue them from this point. It's a confirmed bug that hasn't been fixed yet and bug abuse is definitely issuable.
Cascades of quicksilver light streak across the firmament as the celestial voice of Ourania intones, "Oh Jarrod..."
A plump harlot has been pummeled into pulp by an ogre, clearly soliciting the wrong kind of customer.
Screams echo out from fleeing villagers in Delos as they escape the horrors of the black wave.
Seasone has been pierced through the chest by the spear of a goblinoid, having run out of health elixir.
Vellis has fallen to the combine efforts of several ogres. A flurry of murderous butterflies has torn to pieces a group of ogres
A great battle ensues in the mines of Moghedu, costing the lives of several Mhun and black wave monstrosities.
The great Mhunna has done battle and won against a slew of Ogres and Goblinoids. The great Mhunna has fallen, strangled from behind by a murderous shadow.
Lachesis laughs manically as she entraps several goblinoids in her web, a meal for her subjects.
The Keep of Belladona is a rumble of activity as ogres clash with their mutated kind Howls and shrieks echo from Belladona's keep as shadows and apparitions deal ethereal blows in a battle of shades.
It makes perfect sense for everybody to work together against a threat to everyone.
I would say it makes sense for everybody to prioritise the threat to everyone. Not necessarily to work together. And then you have Nihilists, or Mhaldor, or whoever, that are also in a lore sense a threat to Sapience as well.

@Sarathai : would be cool to have a giant chaos ent rampaging through the land like a cross between Godzilla and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Maybe next event?
I wonder if people have figured out that we're not supposed to win against the Tide yet?
Oh a bunch of us are already pretty positive about that. But Datrius is still gonna bust his ass to keep it away from Aegis shrine, because he's an Aegean and not supposed to just give in to defeat. Plus the monsters are great gold and pushing him towards 100, so why not? Lol

I blame you for public posting about the best way to fight it. You should have posted that there was no hope, the Tide was unbeatable, and we should have all barricaded our doors while our novice populations set off with shortswords and brown tunics to beat back the darkness.
@Makarios Please stop spawning being affected by players who are flying, in trees, souls, phased, astraled.
No spawning astralled, blackwinded or phased. Give spawn monsters the ability to climb trees and pull people down from the sky, or attack at a different elevation (the goblin shoots them with a bow, for example).
Haha. Well that announce post explains why Mhaldor was having such a hard time subverting in Tide areas, and why the coalition was able to do it without problems.

Thanks again Makarios for fixing problems!
I don't think most of the people in the clan knew until a few days ago at the most, so its mostly a moot point.
And you won't understand the cause of your grief...
Ya know what? FUCK THIS. I'm done. I'm fine with having to fight people for splinters. I'm perfectly ok with that. I'm fine with having to fight the creatures from the vapour. But to have people that just come in while you're trying to get essence and spawn more creatures on you already is making me not even wanna participate anymore. I have no problem with dying, but when it's literally no chance because of that crap, that's a line for me.
Yep. Mhaldor has pretty much given up due to the griefing done by the coalition. Earlier I had four people flying above me wherever I went trying to collect splinters. I went through some of my logs since Mhaldor left the coalition. I've died just under 100 times when I wasn't subverting, an avatar, attacking, or defending anyone. It's not possible to count the number of times I was attacked and survived, but it would easily be double that number. I don't mind being attacked in splinter areas so much, but so, so many of the attacks have been outside of splinters or avatar battles.
While I was trying to fight the Tide earlier, I had several people just follow me around phased to spawn creatures on me.
Kind of at my wits end with this, and so is a lot of Mhaldor.
Then why did you quit the coalition, ya dafty? A Mhaldorian was at the root of it.
Haha. Well that announce post explains why Mhaldor was having such a hard time subverting in Tide areas, and why the coalition was able to do it without problems.

It only started being relevant 2-3 days ago when we started having to fight off the tide while collecting splinters. The tide was only in 1 splinter area before then.
So it's not a moot point, it's pretty important. Blatant bug abuse like that should be punished.

You not liking something doesn't make it blatant bug abuse. A lot of things have been changed as the event wore on. Specially regarding avatars. Only way it would have been blatant bug abuse is if someone -knew- it was unintended but continued doing so anyway.
Not that I care much, though. I hardly bother with the shards anymore.
And you won't understand the cause of your grief...
I'm pretty sure most of the people abusing the bug knew it was a bug. One particular culprit comes to mind, but i'm sure he'll be dealt with quite accordingly
