Splinter drops were down to 6-7 at a time for the past several hours. :/

Either people forming a coalition to use the exponential increase put rebuilding the master shrines massively ahead of schedule for the event timetable and needed slowing down as a result, or... I'm actually not sure about an or, but it's weird unless there's a limit on the amount of splinters (and thus essence) that each drop generates within Achaea. In which case, Gattan'bahar holding a bunch of them would keep the drop rate from increasing anyway unless she either expends it all or relinquishes (or dies and somebody else expends or relinquishes it).
    - (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place."
    - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
    - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
    - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
    - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

  • Would make for an interesting narrative if splinter supply got throttled.

Sometimes when I see Gattan'bahar, this line and image always pop into my head.

  • I've always theorized that there were a limited number of splinters anyways. This based on the fact that these came from a physical object, the master shrines. I've also theorized that some divine might not get their master shrines back due to this. Consider this, Gattan'Bahar has a shrine to the meld, if she does use them, she is using them to build a shrine that didn't exist before, taking away from the total number left to use.

It also means a strategy players came up with and put into effect (combine all splinters to rebuild shrines faster) would be neutered. If it's a deliberate throttling to slow this phase down, that's pushing towards an 80% drop (as many as 25-30 splinters might have dropped before). Granted, I'm speculating. But if I'm right, then the coalition was Getting Things Done at an extraordinarily quick pace.

The mistake  that the alliance made from the start was in automatically assuming that there would be enough shards for this "everybody shares equally" stuff to be workable and that the optimal answer therefore was that nobody would fight and everybody would win.

This is so fundamentally flawed that it's ridiculous. They don't know how the shrine destruction worked. "There were X shrines that blew up so obviously there should be enough essence to make X shrines again" is mindbogglingly naive. It is like saying "There were 5 houses that blew up, so obviously we can build 5 identical houses out of the debris"

Thats fine, tho. Its a game, making mistakes only makes it all the more interesting. Would be boring if we only made the correct choices.

And you won't understand the cause of your grief...

the irony of this is all the math thesis OPTIMAL RP posts that basically decry anyone who does not join the Master Shrine Coordination coaltion.

Yes, what a shame that the collective doesn't laud your bravery for standing against said collective.
    Huh. Neat.

The problem is that this incorrect choice is the boring one.

I think what's boring in your eyes may not be in other's. And, it may not have been the wrong choice, but it could be as @Sarathai said. You don't have to keep insulting or putting down people who make choices you don't like. Though, the only real boring thing is if we had to do this collection stuff for another several days. People run out of steam.
If you need me, you can find me sporadically on the Achaea Discord as Yae.
Do not DM on forums unless you're ok with waiting a couple months!
  • i don't mind that people play coalition. the only thing i don't like is when people are telling me that I'm not RP'ing because my RP involves PK.

Pretty much what @Yae said. This coalition thing and seeing all the egoes clash is very interesting to me. Also, lots of people I know are happy they can participate. If you find it boring well, thats them apples. I am sure Jhui and Dunn wont complain about having you, and they seem to be having a blast too.

See, that's the thing. Some people are having a blast with it, some people find it to be the boring choice. It may be boring for you but not everyone, so you can't unilaterally declare it to be so. From all the listening I've done, it's a split. A lot of people are enjoying it because they can participate in a world event in ways they usually can't because most world events in Achaea end up being massive pk fest. Other people are bored with it because they don't feel it provides them enough pk how it is now.

The sad thing about this whole thing is like.

The Nihilists are like "YEAH WE'LL GET THE SHARDS"...

But they aint even goin after Gattan who has like 30+
Just go take your deathball at her.

Or write a strongly worded letter after arguing for an hour on who gets to sign it, that seems more like the Coalition style.
  • Our deathball get's deathball'd by her. :'(

Yeah unfortunately unlike the other IREs (max population 15) and their player cities (max population: the city council), we actually have to interact with more people and for longer than the 1 hour of sexy typing. Hence the unfortunate need to herd people like cats to get anything done.

Im mostly upset with the futility in attempting to even stand up against the Tsol'teth at this point.

I understand the whole concept of powerful overlords, and yes she can kill in a single hit...but it has gotten to the point that we cannot even touch her and she walks by us without a care, teleports at will, heals like a pk-veteran, and dodges kill attempts with ease. Even the Tsol'teth in the mythos were not this untouchable.

When we -finally- did get enough people together to agree to try and smack her down quickly...the admin in control decides to have a laugh and activate Deucalion's miracle :/. Really dude? As if morale wasnt low enough...

I was very strongly hoping that at least for this world-ending event, it would cultivate into the possibility that the players themselves would find the solution to victory, and truly hoping it wouldnt progress to the idea of us being saved by 'an outside source/ally coming to provide the answer/ accident happened'. This was sadly not the case.
  • Leads to a new class that embodies various Gods abilities at will an can take down Tsol'teth.

    Yea, that's all I got.

Having offered to help, and just get told to go back to hunting, I'm just sad that there's not much to offer for the newbie/lowbies :(

For those interested, here are all the Godly splinters:

    (yeah screw spoilers, being wierd)

    Oblivion:

Material rendered unidentifiable by the unrelenting assault of all-devouring eldritch fire, this thin splinter bleeds a steady multicoloured vapour. Polychromatic bursts of lightning find themselves swiftly followed and consumed by packets of nothingness as they race through the kaleidoscopic miasma surrounding the sliver.

    Sea:

Drifts of foam coalesce upon the translucent shores of an icy splinter, its depths imbued with the waves of a stormy ocean. Droplets of water mist its surface and disperse freely into the atmosphere, suffusing the air with the spray of the salty sea.

    Lorielan:

Mostly intangible, shifting motes of ice white and cold green wind in within the vague form of a palm-sized splinter. Jagged edges and painful clarity warn away the bold from this element that aligns with the immortal Lady Lorielan.

    Righteousness:

Primordial flame coils lazily over a slender length of petrified cedar, radiating a searing heat that augurs salvation or damnation to any daring enough to seize it. The eternally burning wood releases its distinctive aroma to tease the senses while deep within the fire, ephemeral shapes coalesce at the edge of perception, demanding implacable focus to unseal their mysteries.

    Light:

A dense skein of filmy particles wraps possessively around the length of a slender glass splinter, engulfing the shard in a mottled haze gold and ivory. The smooth contours of the fragment refract the weave of motes, casting prismatic patterns along the remnant of the Lightbringer. Entombed deep within the clarion depths of the treasure, a small scimitar symbolises Light's resolve.

    Darkness:

Though frigid to the touch, this octahedral splinter pulsates with an inviting thrum. A fine, red line bisects the central plane, periodically separating the object in two perfectly symmetrical halves as they move apart from each other and subsequently recollide. Surrounding the metallic artefact is a black cloud; infinitesimal silver sparks materialise in the vapour's peripheries continuously, only to be drawn towards the centre where they are absorbed by the twin aspects of the Lord of Darkness

    Evil:

Sanguine spikes encompass much of the surface of this palm-sized orb, making it hard to touch, let alone hold. At its centre, spherical shards of basalt shatter into a symphony of anguished and tormented screams before returning to its ashen metal form.

    Nature:

A manifestation of the Earthmother's blessing, the smooth crystal of this ethereal splinter glows with a ghostly scintillation. Tendrils of wiry moss penetrate its core and shiver with a nigh imperceptible thrum, harmonising to the eternal, beating heart of Nature.

    Wealth:

A smooth fragment of various precious metals melted together comprise this splinter of Wealth, surrounded by an almost blinding aura of jewel-toned light.

    Wrath:

Like the fiery magma from deep within Her volcano, this splinter shifts and contorts with no set form. The scorching upon touch is but a small impression of the intensity of the Lady Artemis, Whom this curious fragment aligns with.

    War:

Incised by streaks of ash, the mangled outline of this blackened steel splinter emanates a soft hum. Possessing no true form, the fragment exists as a union of angular lines and smooth curves, its purposeful creation touched by the influence of War.

    Sky:

Sharp, jagged edges line this palm-sized splinter, humming with tangible power. Though the construct is evocative of a lightning bolt, shifting tones of dark greys and light blues intermittently cascade along the length.

    Mischief:

Cast from silver, this splinter of Deus resembles a bright-eyed magpie. Polished to a faintly iridescent sheen, the avian is caught in mid-ruffle, its melted feathers bearing the messy fingerprint of Mischief. Cheeky humour radiates from the tiny bird, its beak open in silent laughter.

    Moon:

Minute and glimmering stars captured within a whirl of ethereal black create a twinkling nightscape across this splinter. Skeins of pale moonshine cast about this manifested essence of Trisagia, the Lady Ourania.

    Dreams:

Soft, ethereal hues of blue and green lazily wind in a sinuous dance along the length of this Splinter of Valnurana's Deus. A soft rushing sound, akin to a gentle breeze through grass, or a hand brushing silken sheets emanates from the shifting manifestation.

    Bard:

A constant, slow drip of paint encompassing every colour of the rainbow falls from the tip of this hand sized splinter. Smooth and narrow, it resonates with a soft but vibrant hum, spreading not only transient hues but tender melody into its surroundings.

    Smith:

As if merely existing is an act of forging, this manifestation of Lord Phaestus' essence glows an unceasing orange red. Resembling a great spark, the splinter illuminates its surrounds with its flickering glow.
