I'm kind of on the fence about this event. The Alliance has made it possible for me to participate in something PK-heavy in ways I otherwise wouldn't (scouting for shards, etc.) and feel useful in some small way when I'm able to get on. On the other hand at the moment it feels a bit like a repetitive cycle. I'm looking forward to seeing what else develops and enjoying the breather in between essence drops.
I'm glad the PK-ers seem to be having tons of fun - I'm not one, so I'm kind of meh about it all, although the opportunity for God-related RP is pretty awesome, and the working-together-to-save-the-world thing is nifty, too.
I hope we'll have more events like the undead invasion (or maybe a phase of this one that's a big battle against the Tsol'teth or something) that are PVE-oriented, since I tend to get the most enjoyment out of those. I will say it's great that it seems (so far) to be structured so that folks who can't be around constantly can still participate.
Pretty sure we'll see plenty more than just essence gathering for this. From the sounds of it it's a massive event that probably has multiple phases. Any comments, @Nicola@Makarios?
I am very jealous at Babel faction. At least they are having fun in this. The rest of us, if we look at a splinter funny when it isnt our turn, we get gank squad boomed, and the rest of our faction cant assist cause 'treaty'.
I swear if one more person in game sends me a tell "Do you know of the treaty made?", I will be preaching Khalas in shouts for an entire day.
I'd like to think of the people complaining about the treaty on the road not taken. The road being 3 days down the line they'd have been complaining about not being able to achieve anything period. Because 5 cities are wrecking them at any hour instead of at least getting a turn at filling up their shrine. This alliance is going to break down sooner or later and then you'll get your turn at going solo-city again. The amount of dick-waving already gives me white hairs.
Secondly on the shrine power thing. No matter how you look at it, being able to pull anything between 6-12 splinters in one hour per day (maybe more as the timing dictates) is going to be more efficient than scraping 2-4 splinters per hour, that's provided someone bigger doesn't just take it away from you. And you know they would continue doing it long after they finished building their own shrine.
Some of us would never be able to play at all for our Orders if not for this thing, because apparently spending years of cultivating relationships meant nothing in the face of the opportunity to gank everything that moves. Until being forcefully reminded. So yeah, thanks for nearly making me move back to Mhaldor, ironically the only city that didn't try to shank me. >_>
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
(Hashan): Kasa says, "Greetings, Hashan. As per the decree of the Regency, we are now at war, and in a time of war. As a result, a few things are changing."
(Hashan): Kasa says, "Hashan is now under martial law. That means that I am your commanding officer. I will not force anyone to fight, of course, but that does mean a few things. First: anyone who is assisting the nihilists after this moment will be summarily enemied and executed."
(Hashan): Kasa says, "The Black Wave is our enemy, and the Nihilists are assisting them, whether they know it or not."
(Hashan): Kasa says, "Secondly, I will have no patience. If I see you spending your time with Nihilists, I will be quite cross."
This event JUST started and already its taken diverse turns that have pleased multiple appetites. Some people loved the open carnage at the start, some people loved the organized treaty, some people are now enjoying the babel vs treaty.
The events been going for around 48 hours? That's a pretty good spread of satisfying many needs in a very short time if you ask me. Plus I think it's a bit premature to judge an entire event by the opening ceremonies...
This part of the event was fun while it lasted, that is, until the aforementioned martial law was put in place. Very much a with or against type of moment with no room at all for creativity.
Rubble and soot underlay centuries of accumulated and undisturbed dust, the archaic destruction a mockery of the once empiric throne room. Ambient light skeins down from high above through the shattered remains of the palace, its illumination paltry and dim in these long-deserted chambers. Beyond the faint reaches of sun, star, and moon something lurks; a great hulking shape that occasionally shifts the greys of the shadowed outskirts to an imposing black.
I was hoping the event wouldn't be so PK-heavy, but .. I'm not surprised it is and I can't say I haven't laughed watching @Dunn, @Jhui, and @Hirst kick everyone's ass like they don't sit around Ashtan the rest of the time and get drunk lolz. Old badasses.
I wish the event wasnt neutered by the players. No real fun with the hardworked Avatar mechanics, unless you're Babel members.
Currently it's just a large gank squad of players of different and conflicting orgs standing around as bodyguards in an area so that the next order can claim the next set of splinters. +1 for fun there..
But hey what do I know, apparently diplomacy is super fun.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First foray has been successful, the palace breached, our portal remains secured.
As expected the indigenous tribes have proven eminently susceptible to the litany. No resistance was
encountered from the natives as the process they will undergo was laid out.
The removal of the primitive totems to their Masters has resulted in a reaction similar to that
witnessed in ants when a nest is disturbed.
Unprecedented, but not particularly concerning, Splinters of Deus manifest on occasion across the
overland. The various castes appear to place great importance in these and have drawn the names of
their Masters from a jar in an attempt to organise collection and allocation. Division and self
interest are already in evidence.
Communication and accord between these elementary beings is not particularly efficient, minimal
effort will be required in their processing. It remains to be seen if anything viable can be
salvaged. At worst, they can be recycled into nourishment for the progeny.
Certain specimen have offered assistance, such derangement discounts them as viable subjects for use
more integral than fodder.

I tried so hard to get Targossas out of it. Alas.
Yeah, I just logged back in only to find people overturned our previous decision to quit the alliance the moment I left and couldn't argue for the Aarashi. The anger is real right now.

Noticed when I caught the sharp end of an Eleusishashanicyrenitargossas gank squad. Good times.
Im surprised the Tsol'teth have viewed any form of assistance in servitude as derangement. I thought they would be pleased at 'some form of intellect shown by recognition of true overlords'. Eh
I will admit, one thing that is interesting about the coalition is getting to watch and observe how other factions fight from the inside. It's honestly pretty fun, even when @Exxia vengeance-bombs us all.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

They look at us in the same way humans look at tofu: would you meatbags accept food as servants?

Maybe if it was a pig that I trained to get the paper or some shit. Yeah.... bacon is nummy.

There's a damn area message when someone is claiming a splinter people!
@Airius backstabbed me 3 times because he thought i stole a corpse. When in reality. I didn't even know there was one. :')

These Splinters of Deus will be investigated.
We remain upon schedule.
Gattan'bahar.
I like this, whoever wrote it.
- With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
- (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
- Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
- Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
Surely it can just do the same if/when we rebuild them...
Making this whole thing pointless.
I would rather play with the toys, myself.
