I'm pretty happy to go on record saying it won't be a factional class. Those are just bad in general.
I am legitimately surprised by this statement.
Over the years, factional classes have been placed under heavier and heavier constraints to limit them to their respective factions, when that wasn't always the case. Wishful requests and classleads to lessen these burdens and allow their play (with appropriate penalties/disadvantages) outside their factions are universally and repeatedly denied. Given that evidence, I assumed the Admin liked factional classes and saw them as something to be promoted and protected. If the Admin does not like factional classes, why do we keep doubling down on their exclusivity?
-- Grounded in but one perspective, what we perceive is an exaggeration of the truth.

Not to mention that it denies them entirely and in perpetuity from the newest factional. It kind of sucks when all the other folk get cool toys that only they can play with but you don't and likely never will. My tastes in gameplay aesthetics very strongly lean toward conceptual symmetry with mechanical asymmetry, and not getting a factional class means that we have neither while the other three get both.

Introducing new factional classes would be a bad idea.
Few reasons for that. Firstly its a lot of dev work that would only be used by 1/6 of the playerbase. That's also a good way just to irritate a lot of people - one city gets cool new toys and noone else does. Second, I think dictating what faction someone has to play by class is a pretty reliable recipe for people to end up in factions that they're not really that interested in. Our current factional classes have a very strong tie with their factions, which definitely has pros and cons. But I don't believe adding more to the game would be a winning formula.
General, non-definite information about the idea of new classes, but not this class specifically: A factional class is very unlikely, a purely physical class without any magical aspects (something we don't have) wouldn't make sense in Achaea because they couldn't compete with all the magical/supernatural abilities the current classes have (this might be what Tydas is thinking of?), some kind of barbarian/berserker class is the only traditional fantasy archetype Sarapis felt was missing from the game at one point (and he also once gave a rough outline of a barbarian class he'd like to see), and some new purpose for polearms is intended at some point in the future (not necessarily in a new class, and no definite plans were mentioned).
You're going to be pretty surprised.
Ok here's some ideas I personally would find surprising:
Superhero. Undergo a traumatic origin story to gain superpowers. Choose your own name, hero/villain status, theme, and affiliations.
Plumber. Summon sewer pipes from the ground and hop in to travel the world. Traverse the ancient Tsol'teth network of underground caveways, and flush away evils that would clog, grow, and overrun. Enhance your city's sewer system to peak efficiency. Wield plunger and chemicals.
Painter. Weapon is a giant paintbrush. Slap enemies with nine colours of paint (ROYGBIV/black/white) to various effects. Capture locations in landscapes and people in portraits. Translate your imagination into reality with abstract art.
Skeleton. Zombies, vampires, and werewolves are a bit played out but nobody's done skeletons yet. Maybe mummies?
Bureaucrat. Has no offensive or defensive abilities. Instead, skills are devoted to contracting out your actions to others: hire guards to defend you, mercenaries and assassins to kill for you, workers to toil for you. Architects, builders, artists, bards. Take over the world from behind your desk.
Farmer. Main weapon is a scythe. Plant a scarecrow to terrify your opponents. Summon a rampage of pigs. Unleash the mighty bull. Sow crops and reap a harvest - of death. Perform the fertility ritual to ensure a bountiful yield.
Soldier. You stepped through an unstable time vortex and disappeared from Earth in 2016 AD to arrive in this strange world of medieval magic and high fantasy. Armed with an M16 rifle, a dwindling supply of ammunition, a pocketful of MREs, and your Ka-Bar, you're on your own, soldier. Oh shit, was that a dragon?
Blue mage. Memorise the last 20 attacks used against you, or in your presence, whether by players or NPCs, and learn how to use them yourself. Also gain the ability to control any NPC and make them your temporary loyal. Hashan faction class?
Archaeologist. Cyrene faction class. Skills are Spelunking, Academia, and Antiques.
Demon Hunter. That'll boost subscriber numbers
Azatlani stone mage. Unearth the stone, purify it of earth, introduce it to the sky's touch. Shape the stone into consecrated statues. Feed the stone with blood spilled from hearts sacrificed in holy ritual. Part stonemason, part Mayan or Aztec priest. They erect giant monuments: pyramids, temples. They can bring their stone to life after blessing it with a blood sacrifice. Imagine the thud, thud, thud as they lurch up the highway on the back of one of their pyramids, which has taken foot like a giant turtle. More practically, they fly on the backs of winged, gargoyle-like stone temple hounds. Main weapon is a stone halberd (with a long handle to swipe down at you as they fly low overhead).
Pirate. (Not that surprising, it's such a good idea, why wouldn't they do it?)
Barbarian. They wear luchador masks styled after animals, and one of their Trans abilities lets them turn into that animal for the ultimate finisher attack: Chokeslam of the Cryptic Fox, Black Kraken Piledriver, Storm Eagle's Vertical Suplex.
Time mage.
No new class. The Announce subject line is "New class" but then all it says is, "Delayed until 2018."
Sounds to me like he's saying Blademasters are terrible.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
Bureaucrat. Has no offensive or defensive abilities. Instead, skills are devoted to contracting out your actions to others: hire guards to defend you, mercenaries and assassins to kill for you, workers to toil for you. Architects, builders, artists, bards. Take over the world from behind your desk.
Goddam it. Way to ruin the surprise. Also, it's a Cyrenian factional class.

Quite possibly the best and funniest thing I've ever read on forums. Drawing out the mental image in my head was just amazing.
Festering bite: Lunge forth and bite your target, leaving a festering wound. Will cause damage over time. If not cured within a set amount of time, target will transform into a zombie version of their race.
Brains: Consume the corpses of the dead to feed your eternal hunger. If you consume the corpse of a high leveled adventurer, you will get a short time bonus to your strength and con.
Furthermore you may recall the memories of your prey. Seeing what they once saw up to 5 mins ago.
No pain: You no longer have living tissue and thus are less prone to damage. 15% reduction to damage.
Living weapon: Use your body to its maximim undead potential. Pull your arm out of its socket and use it as a tool of war. You may use it to SWING at your target causing blunt damage. Any abilities that are targetting this limb will now have no effect.
Ghastly breath: Breathe out, sending the festering stench of your organs to the masses, causing even the bravest of warriors to run in fear. Eww

And each ability is executed only upon Senate approval.

That makes me a sad panda.

Not factional based unless a city chooses to deny them for whatever reason (im imagining some grey area debates)
Focused more on magical than on physical (does not necessarily mean purely one)
Coming out this year (presumably)
We need sources!
@Jukilian when i get home I'll link the source if you like. Nothing is ever for sure with these things though
