I would've liked a little time between Shallam going boom and the revival of Deucalion. Even just a few hours to allow for people to feel at least some doubt would have added a lot to the atmosphere of being a refugee.
The clans are okay, but there should have been an opportunity for some people to fall away, though I can understand admin twitchiness in that regard with not wanting everyone to just leave and hate everything.
ETA: revised my feelings on the clans with the thought of taking the exact same people and the exact same leadership structure into Shallam 2.0. Absolutely no point destroying the city if that ends up happening.

I also would have liked a little more time after Shallam being destroyed for Veldrin to make some forum posts.

So during the middle of a skirmish between Ashtan and Mhaldor:
Cain arrives from the up.
Hellrazor Cain de Soulis, Mhaldorian Warlord says in a growling voice, "Embers."
Hellrazor Cain de Soulis, Mhaldorian Warlord says in a growling voice, "Embers anyone."
Cain rattles his cup.
This event would also improve if the antagonist wasn't represented by dumb crap like this.
This isn't a reflection on everybody in Mhaldor, of course, but the above is about 99.5% of what people outside of Mhaldor see as your antagonist roleplay for this event, and it really ruins the epic feel of it.
As much as I enjoyed the event, I'm still rather skeptical about what it's going to do for Shallam. With the players being retained and Deucalion/a refugee camp being set up so soon after the destruction, we've skipped grief and hopped straight into reconstruction, and it seems like not much is going to change with the city structure/culture.
Also, wtf @ the sword magically disappearing and appearing in Halos's hands. Way to screw Silas over.
A large part of being an antagonist is knowing when it is inappropriate to open your mouth, and when you should let an event run its course.
Some people on PT were clamoring for an immediate raid on the refugees, while the more reasonable of us decided it would be less of a jerk move to let everyone RP the situation for a while instead of spending it praying.
I can't punish anyone for being a 'terrible antagonist' though.
Well not sure there @Sothantos, you can still do grief while in a refugee camp. There's not much reconstruction we can do right now, all we can do is hold some semblance of government while figuring out where the heck to go from here.
I had already set up a temporarily refuge for my house before the funeral pyre got lit in Jaru.
The biggest HUH? Moment was when HWHO/HT vanished along with all the org clans, I don't see why their existence depends on the physical house estate.
To echo others' concerns, I hope the same leadership structure doesn't just repeat itself. HELP REFUGEES -- still led by Halos and all the leadership structure is the same as far as I know. It makes sense in a way to have the old leader try to salvage things, but it's just off-putting.
Same with the disbanded Orders being barred from Order-only portions of the temple, reactions, libraries, etc. etc. Would be nice, but the coding would probably be more frustrating than we might think.
I guess now is a perfect opportunity to build New Shallam? (insert new city name) up to exactly how people have wanted it for some time.
For me (yes its only my opinion) they should run it exactly like Mhaldor, make it a righteous city where their are certain things expected.

Want to be a care bear - GTFO - Join elsewhere
You don't want to defend the ideals of the city - GTFO - Join elsewhere
You get the point.
Start with the houses, if you want to join new city blah then this is what is going to happen, what you dont want to follow that, sure Oneiros can build you a new house estate in the desert or whereever.
The first house leader is told what is to be done, not what they want to do,
For those that dont want to be part of a new city they have a choice, join Cyrene a neutral good orientation which is similar to what Shallam was or just go rogue.
It will be interesting to actually see what happens.
Militant Shallam would be good. Militant on par with Mhaldor would not. There's a happy medium somewhere, but it would require the leadership of the city and houses to change mindsets and not try to jump straight back into the status quo.
I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.

Agree with this for the most part. That's the direction I intend to take the Templars and whatever "good" city we get from this.
Hard not to jump back into the status quo though when only the physical city was destroyed, but the communities and ideologies preserved. The Shallamese players are still the same as before the event, after all. Why would this event, so far, make them -want- something different?
New Shallam with the same old guard in charge. Nothing will change. But as long as it's not a mess as easily raided as the old one, I slightly approve.

They destroyed that little island outside the Peshwar. Rest in peace, little *island.

And more oysters to stormhammer three at a time? That was the best thing about that place.
I always suspected Delphinus invented oversoul himself and the concept self-perpetuated.
