1. Remove devotion deliverance - the ability to grief/abuse this is too huge, and it will all be against Targossas which isn't fair.
2. Make sure to clear everyone's defenses after the CTF is over - after the Demigod event, I was able to retain the mega defenses for about 10 days before I got "randomly" kicked off Achaea.
3. Remove the ability to numb/apathy unless you innately had the ability - an extra 10 seconds of everyone not dying isn't going to be fun.
4. Remove mass aoe damage abilities unless you already had them - things like arc, chaos rays, holocaust - bringing a group of 20 people and having each one cast holocaust is probably not going to be fun.
5. Don't allow extermination during the event.
I'm sure there are tons of other highly abusable/won't be fun things, but those were some of the big ones I thought of right away.
I can also imagine trying to leave a room with gravehands, piety and wildgrowth would be a total pain in the rear too. Yeah... that doesn't even sound fun,
Titanic CTF sounds nuts. My only complaint is that I only have 1 day to prepare myself and everyone else for it, but I'm sure that's by design. Let the 20-man Backstab squads begin.
-- Grounded in but one perspective, what we perceive is an exaggeration of the truth.
@Deladan sounds like you're playing your game too seriously. Just say thank you for the cool thing, then return to enjoying playing your game like you normally would.
How could this not be fun?
Achaea is my favorite game. I have so much fun playing it. Even after 12 years. I'm glad the admin never let it grow stagnant. It's very impressive.

It could be fun, if people wouldn't take things too far... but I know this playerbase. And with the amount of them that enjoy using and abusing opness. I can imagine anyone that doesn't prep for this in advance by teaming up with people to trigger offensives will spend a lot of time praying... Praying isn't that fun...
I remember when we used to do all that together. When we'd lay the retard totem traps and you'd just indiscriminately Breath Rain all of us.
I guess I'll see you again Sunday, bud. Whoever you are now.
I haven't done that in years. I'm not exactly a part of the combat crowd anymore or really any crowd. If I see bugs in svof's curing I try to get them fixed instead of taking advantage of them now. I don't know when it changed, but I guess being a total outsider when it comes to most aspects of the game has led me to look at things with different eyes.
(D.M.A.): Cooper says, "Kyrra is either the most innocent person in the world, or the girl who uses the most innuendo seemingly unintentionally but really on purpose."

Also I don't think me breathraining everyone was part of me trying to be elite or anything. I just flew and rained everytime I took any kind of damage. Cause raiding with Tanris I developed the mentality that if I was gonna die anyways I was taking someone else with me and I didn't care what team they were from.
Win or lose, though, I definitely think that they need to happen much more often, so the Effigy can be spread around and not sit in one city for RL years at a time (although Eleusis has only had it for a couple of months).
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

We've had a rather unlucky history with world events. This CTF looks awesome though
I'm definitely expecting the server to be massively slow. lol.
The only thing I find really odd about the Titanic CTF is that when we were demigods, a God had to give up Their divinity for us to have all those skills. Now we're just getting them for free, except according to the mass e-mail Sarapis sent there will be some skills excluded... and we're not going to have access to Divine fire, zap, essence, Gods channel, etc.
If we had access to divine fire and zaps, I would probably blow any essence I got on just grabbing a bunch of honours lines.
I would definitely like some forewarning on what skills we do and don't get access to. As far as server speed goes, I don't remember the last CTF as especially laggy. The Foozle was, though.

Admin: Here's something super new and fun we made for CHRISTMAS! So you can all have fun at Christmas! Like, it was pretty hard work, but it should be super fun. Everyone wants to have fun at Christmas right?
Sections of the Playerbase: How DARE you. Are you implying we don't have fun all year round? Are you full on admitting to us, the (sometimes) paying customers that fun is not your priority at all times? How can you RP out something fun for Christmas, CHRISTMAS ISN'T IC. We refuse to buy credits for eternity, and demand some vague apology and recompense.
Sections of the Playerbase: We have no interest in your special Christmas fun, sir. The door is that way. We will be playing WoW instead where this kind of non-RP holiday nonsense is entirely unheard of.
I have a feeling there will be some regulation by the respective factions. Mhaldor saying if you use Devotion you will be cast out, Targossas saying the same about Necromancy and Chaos. Should be interesting

ORLY?
Tharos, the Announcer of Delos shouts, "It's near the end of the egghunt and I still haven't figured out how to pronounce Clean-dat-hoo."

Targossas and Eleusis, perhaps. I can't see Mhaldor or Ashtan giving a damn what their citizens use as long as it gets the job done.
@Vansittart: If the Effigy wasn't on the line, perhaps. As it is it's not just about fun since there's a very tangible and powerful reward on the line. For a lot of people, I expect it's not going to be any more fun than a regular CTF, because they'd have to spend most of the two hour duration trying to set things up to use all the new abilities and as a result will only use the abilities they have access to normally. It may actually be less fun for some people to have to deal with already absurd damage from heavily artied players made even faster by abilities like reflexes.
Possibly open up the test server for people to go and try everything out?
I don't know if I'll be competing just because of the scheduling. Normally 11pm GMT wouldn't be too big a deal on a weekend, but I've not had a lot of sleep this week so might not last that long. Either way, I'm going to be picking up Monk as my eighth class tonight and tomorrow.
This is a game we are encouraged to stay in character at all times and our actions reflect on our characters. It's a little difficult when the admin occasionally give us things to have fun with as players to justify it in game and we are told just to turn a blind eye for the next two hours.
What if we had a stock scenario that gets wheeled out. Scheduled events where @Valnurana's priestess conduct experiments in communal dreaming on a world wide scale as they try to reach behind the curtain to help @Sarapis tend the flame?

To be fair, Christmas is just a neo-pagan retail holiday. For most families here in the United States it has no real meaning other than 1. A vacation and 2. Presents. The most common phase heard is "What did you get me". Which is why, for my family, at least we don't do Christmas for adults, its a childrens holiday. (And we probably wouldn't get gifts for the kids then if not for the sake of my own son. His birthday is in December and instead of getting him gifts for his birthday, most people wait and just give him Christmas gifts. I'm afraid if I stopped getting their snot nosed little brats things for Christmas, they might not get my son anything at all for his birthday.)
To be honest, I've seen more real christmas spirit from achaeans than I've seen RL in almost a decade.

Few suggestions to reduce some grief:
