5 days of getting to sleep in a/c. I cannot express the joy with adequate words.

Late night conversations, which I sadly fell asleep during. Massive raves for who I was speaking with though
House sitting is absolutely win. I get 5 days of air conditioning, which is heaven. Loki also missed me, which lasted for a whole three hours. Then he missed my best friend more. The poor little darling kept meowing at me to try and make me somehow bring her back, and then would hiss at me out of disgust that she was still gone.
The little man in question. He is gorgeous! He's part persian, minus the squashed persian face. He's super fluffy and so soft. The picture doesn't do him justice. He looks like he has the colouring of a blue burmese but he's between dark grey and black. This is the cat that always makes me want a custom pet in game. Every single time.
I was up super early, which is surprising. I may have forgotten to pack my alarm clock. I had a delicious cooked breakfast from the diner. Bacon and eggs on toast. Exciting things happened that I was looking forward to, that's more of an IG rave, but hell, it makes -me- happy. Six hours and I can go home! Yay!

Piggybacking off of someone else's 'out of debt' rave...I just got word that I'll be able to take a big leap towards the same thing myself. Christmas was modest, and the store card will be paid off at most, in two months. the 'big loan' I took out 6 years ago to get rid of all my debt -then- will be toast within the same two months. My profiler (expensive tool for making bassoon reeds) wasn't paying for itself, so I tried selling it on commission through a local double reed company (I sent it off to them almost a year ago and hadn't heard anything back, so I emailed the guy about 15 minutes ago)...just got word that it sold a few weeks ago and i'm getting the check for -that- soon, which will take care of the bulk of one of my other cards, leaving me with two that can be powered down quickly, now that all the others will be out of the way.
For being out of 'real full time work' for four years....this is great. Really really great. Additionally, we haven't lost our house, we aren't starving or freezing. I sub teach, give music lessons, and work in a repair shop in addition to gigging professionally....(woo Easter gig lined up aleady).....and.....just yay. The one treat I've allowed myself through all this was Elite. (gg Achaea).
Awesome @Anaidiana! I'm not quite out of debt myself (student loans, house) but am working damn hard on getting there myself. Must be an great feeling. Keep it up!
Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in six years... I am sooore.
Also today one of my kindergarteners came up to me on the playground.
her: "Mister, can you keep a secret?"
me: "yes...?"
her: "I'm half cat!"
and then proceeds to dig in the ground to prove it to me.
I have to say the cuteness of that was worth the hell they put me through today.
It's cute now, but wait until she's pushing thirty and going to furry conventions. That's when it gets creepy.

I'd just like to share that despite the poopy things that have happened this week, I just ate the biggest and best orange that I've ever had in my life.
I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.
Flew out yesterday & have been staying with my dad for one day, and already have been given a very nice old semi acoustic bass, that I shall now have to learn to play properly. My dad has a bit of a thing for collecting guitars. Good to catch up with my brother who I haven't seen years too.
The downside - achaea on a laptop on lap (no desk) when I'm used to a pc & huge screen. I'm deciding whether to move down here, but if I do, I won't have my PC back for a few months possibly.
On the note of learning instruments... I'm learning keyboard/piano and my mate wanted me to play Piano Man, I told him that when I can play it that I would take a keytar into his work while he is in a meeting and serenade him on the spot with it. Goals... everyone needs them.

I haven't got it -yet-. But after the first shift I will pay off my car. On my second shift I will pay off half my HECS. My third shift will pay off the rest of the HECS. The fourth shift will fund a month long vacation where ever the fuck I want. The fifth shift I will buy IRE.
I thought today was going to be terrible - I went to bed depressed, woke up late, I didn't finish a paper that was due today, this apartment manager for another place I'm trying to view keeps insisting on -telling- me a time when she will meet with me, rather than scheduling a time when I can actually be there...to say the least, things started out poorly. Then I got to school. Not only did one of my classmates buy me my favourite morning drink - a 20-ounce Earl Grey with two raw sugars and a splash of vanilla soy - but we spent the entire period reviewing the history of poetry, reading Petrarch, Donne, Byron, and Poe, and both my professor and my classmates raved about the reading I gave on Wednesday (and assured me that I didn't appear as embarrassingly intoxicated by the end of the evening as I thought I had been). Let's hope that this fortunate trend continues.

I walked into the room of my kidergarteners today to give their homework to their teacher only to have my half-cat girl come up give me a hug which then spurred the entire class to run up to me to give me a hug. Random hugs are random, and rave worthy
Kids are pretty adorable when they're not being brats.
My middle schoolers today, in my last period, were full of innocent mischeif today - I decided to be nice and let the kids use their iPods once they finished their classwork, and one of the girls came and sat with me, showed me YouTube videos, and while a bundle of energy, you just can't help but marvel at them. She then figured out a way to make me laugh, because her (Asian) friend's expressions were so -expressive-, so of course I had trouble just remaining professional.
It's nice when kids prove they can be people, too, when given proper encouragement. I have a bit of faith in humanity, yet.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby

It will take a lot more than some enthusiasm and youtube videos to convince me that children are truly human. </cynicism>
It's honestly very hard to explain. It was the way she acted, and responded - you can tell when they're being genuine, and this particular student was.
Considering how YouTube crazy she is, maybe she'll do one of her odd antics on video at some point!
