Just pass the last test in my AIC designation. Now just waiting on them to approve the designation, and hopefully I can get a nice raise with a new company.
I start university in 2 weeks. I am a little freaked out about this still. I am apparently being stalked by @Sarathai who is moving to my country and my university too. (University of Nottingham) this is the next stage of my 5 year plan, and part of me is super excited and part of me is super freaked out about the amount of debt I am about to plunge myself into (I shall leave a pause here for the Americans to laugh at me and brandish their student debt) Time to put my big girl pants on and do this!
So This happened.. and is finished and yesterday I wore a cap and gown for a virtual graduation So that was nice.. Did Sarathai finish yet?

My daughter just got a conditional offer to go there next September.. congratulations on graduating!
Just had a guy give me weed as a tip, through much protesting on my part. Guess he thought I needed it! Now I have a little baggie full of very strong smelling weed, in a state that still considers it illegal. I haven't smoked any for over 3 years now. Never was really big on it cause I'm fairly sure that I react badly to it.
Debating on whether to get completely stoned before bed or not...
I had a lunch meeting today with a guy that wants to hire me and it may have paid off in a way I could have never expected. I may have just accidentally brokered a huuuge deal and be receiving compensation from both sides.
Obligatory rave for Games because they were that much fun and kicked off a hell week of being tired and cranky (but hiding it well at work).
We dove headfirst into Minecraft Education this week. It was AWESOME but also a struggle bus and a half. Excited to make improvements and have a much better experience next week! It’s always a good day when the kids are begging you to let them stay just a little longer (especially in SPED).
Spent yesterday afternoon celebrating Read Across America by chasing preschoolers on the playground while dressed as the Cat in the Hat. It was hot. It was sweaty. The older kids are going to make hella fun of me on a Monday. I loved every second of it.
And finally... dose two of vaccine! SCIENCE INJECTED RIGHT INTO THE ARM WOO. Now to find myself a cute, vaccinated dude for... reasons.
Welcome. I have the Matlock box set you can borrow anytime - assuming you kept a VHS machine around.
Been stuck in a hotel for 2 weeks and get to go home and work on my Maverick, drop a Hammer kit in my Harley, and then play with some woodworking stuff myself when Im not doing work certification stuff for the next 6 months and I cannot wait.
2 certifications for work since May 6. Another one on the way starting June 1 (takes up to 7 months to get). And still at least one - if not 3 - more inbound.
Second one I just got, I got away w testing out of for $40 instead of paying the usual $1200 for the course/test like most folks (which is good because it is actually pretty basic).
I was pretty aggressively recruited by a place that does something I've never done before. So far I'm pretty damn good at it and on track to excel in a very serious way. Turning a page in your life's story to see the story getting really good is always nice.
I found one of my old biology tests that had a bonus question at the back asking the students to come up with a poem about the unit topic. I remember walking out of the testing room and my classmate asking me what the hell I was scribbling so furiously, and I told her I'd show her when we got the tests back. I thought I'd share it!
MUTATIONS!
One little change in a nucleotide;
Could harm your beautiful looks, so have pride!
If you are lucky, a silent mutation;
Won't change a thing (you may note with elation).
If, with misfortune, a deletion is had;
And damn all your luck -- this one is bad!
A frame shift could happen. Your proteins are wrong!
An amino that matters is suddenly gone!
The rest of the chain is disrupted as well.
The whole polypeptide has all gone to hell.
Perhaps just a missense will swap out a note;
Of this copious song that your genes know by rote.
Perhaps it won't matter so much in this case;
If the protein is similar with this new base.
How delightful it is we have mismatch repair!
But time is like nonsense muta -- [I'll stop there]
You guys ever try this IRL shit? It's pretty great.
IRLing a lot more lately and all sorts of things are working out for me. Several time and monetary investments have paid off exponentially and the last couple months of riding the struggle bus are worth it!
Been stressing out about employment since I started my final year of college. Graduation at the end of May felt more like a reminder that I had no 'post-graduation plans' than anything else.... but I've done it- I've gotten my first real job offer. I'm so ecstatic. Thanks to everyone here, friends and family who prayed for me.
The support went a long way.
@Nicola pls don't remove the gif, I feel it adequately describes me today! IT IS NOT A MEME.
The Divine voice of Twilight echoes in your head, "See that it is. I espy a tithe of potential in your mortal soul, Astarod Blackstone. Let us hope that it flourishes and does not falter as so many do."
Aegis, God of War says, "You are dismissed from My demense, Astarod. Go forth and fight well. Bleed fiercely, and climb the purpose you have sought to chase for."
@Caelan Entry level developer basically. Well, that's the job title, in a nutshell. When I start, we'll see what kind of grunt I am hahahaha.

@Sobriquet I don't know much about coding but I do know that the boss likes his vanilla latte with whole milk.

It has been 542 days since I last got to be with my fiancé. We were supposed to be have our wedding ceremony 265 days ago. We applied for a travel exemption three times over since they started issuing exemptions, and each time we were denied.
As of yesterday, our last application for an exemption so that I could visit her was approved. I fly out next Friday, and while it will be the 16th before I can hug her once again, I will get to share a summer with her all the way to the end of September.
I can't put into words how I feel. I'm running on three hours of sleep and normally I'd be falling over my own feet at this point, but I just keep trucking along. I keep pausing throughout the day and trying not to break down into tears of joy. I am excited, but exhausted. Hopeful, yet terrified.
@Peak re: hospital canteens yes, I used this trick quite extensively when I was a broke fuck. It's like 1.50 a meal here and if you look like ass they'll normally give you extra

Oh and here’s a picture so you can have a giggle.
Celebrated this crazy little thing called love, and mah wedding. ❤️ Well, anniversary:P
I had a great day.
I can finally walk properly again, after nearly 8 months of dealing with this shit. Minor, expected pain, from surgery but yay.
Disappearing from Achaea for now. See you, space cowboy.
smileyface#8048 if you wanna chat.
As I slowly morph into a boomer, have become more and more interested in woodworking and timber finishing.
Recently fell for the marketing of "Hard Wax Oils" so decided to sand and refinish the floor. Last coat went on today and am stoked with the result!
Before: worn, discoloured polyurethane
After: glorious linseed oil, carnauba and beeswax
(disclaimer: am possibly high on the smell of honey & solvents)

You can get lunch in hospital cafeterias for like $4 (things I learned from adopted grandpas)
My country recently allowed receiving 2 visitors per day, so today I saw my parents for the first time in 15 months. It was the best birthday gift!

Just don't get in trouble for adding skin-milk. That's a whole lot of criminal charges.

Almost there, just a little further now.
