Rave: work conferences before they start and you're meeting back up with those acquaintances, friends, and drinking buddies who usually live so far away you have to email them or similar to talk.
Rant: sitting on the taxiway for an hour while waiting for the plane to take off.
Rave: being overseas. Even just across the ditch, as it were, it gives a change of pace and I automatically find it more exciting.
Rant: 737 landings. Or as I prefer to call them, controlled crashes.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
Rave: Physically therapy for my injury is going well. I am feeling a lot stronger. I even noticed that my thighs are slowly starting to go from squishy to solid. Oh and I survived the treadmill at PT too! Running body here I come!
After some 38 job applications submitted since last October, I've somehow managed to end up with a job interview on Friday morning and another one on Saturday afternoon.
I've got my fingers crossed for one or both since they're both casual positions, and anything is better than this work for the dole crap that nobody else seems to have to do outside of the NT. I'm over the 5am starts.

The Irish government introduced a scheme like this some years back called 'Jobsbridge'. Where essentially you got your dole and the employer contributed an extra 50 euro a week.
The intent was to re-skill labour (or get experience for those entering the work force).
In practice you had deli counters, take-away chip shops etc all taking advantage of cheap labour. Essentially an absolute piss-take by unscrupulous employers.
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.

In australia they really have no idea how to handle it all, and work for the dole is just as bad as having to go through job agencies that treat you as another shitty number that needs to get a job for them to hit pay dirt.
welfare is a massive scapegoat as well, liberals (our liberals are conservative that is how bass-ackwards we are), have implemented a scheme to harass and crap all over welfare recipients to try and grab as much cash from the lowest of earners as possible.
Essentially our current party in charge are nothing but fraudsters and financial elite sucking each other off, they are currently seen as the most corrupt government in our history, and currently 4 sitting cabinet members have resigned over corruption charges. The latest bought an 800k investment property from a liberal doner and scummed 20k of taxpayer money on personal holidays.
What puts the cherry on top of this shit-cake is that class warfare has us blaming each other insead of our corrupt as hell government. It's a pitiful state of affairs and should have forced people to dump this current government so fast.

And in however many years time when it comes to elections people will vote them back in. Because people are idiots.

Well, fellow dominion subject. Things are pretty much the same in Canada. Ugh!
@Minifie, I'm also one of the lucky ones hit with a ridiculous BS debt to pay back so I lose $150 a fortnight too for debt recovery.

People will believe anything, our previous Government treasurer had us in deficit, but lowered foreign debt, increased employment, increased funding in renewable energy while keeping our dollar high and a triple A credit rating. We were economically strong, but our current pair of twats have spent heaps while forcing our internet to shit, pulled funding from health and education, more tax breaks for coal and less funding on renewable energy, all while losing major factory jobs!
worst part? They continue to blame labour after 4 years in government... Excuse me? on top of that, idiot voters still think the coalition are better economic managers... hopefully in 20 years they'll never get close to house majority... set in their ways of 50 years ago.
@Kyrra fight it as much as possible, don't give them a freaking inch. Cheating scumlords will drive people to poverty before they think of taxing the 500k+ properly or tightening big business tax loopholes, although labour hasn't either they haven't tortured the poor while not doing it.

I'm in that club too, though I've been able to track down 6-7 year-old payslips, so I'm hoping to fight the whole thing.
Rave time: Last year the Government changed how student funding works at the very last minute, meaning that a bunch of students that were going to come and study at the place where I teach were no longer covered by student loans, and so had to pay for the course up front...this of course lead to a lot of phone calls from potential students letting us know that they can no longer afford to do the course, particularly at such short notice..
Fortunately, it looks like we still might get enough enrolments that I don't have to fire any of the teachers in my department. Fingers crossed!
So, being English I'm not a huge fan of the NFL but I did just meet Payton Manning. What a guy, such an articulate speaker and a huge presence even if you aren't a big football fan. Colouring me impressed.

You should watch the Roast of Rob Lowe, then. It's hilarious, and he does a great job.
Also, I had a great day today. I had a phone interview for our ISP yesterday, and they scheduled me for an in-person today. I don't think I have ever done as well in an interview before. I gave immediate, confident and thoughtful answers, and was upbeat and polite. The interview ended with the two managers giving effusive praise and telling me that while they normally don't tell candidates their thoughts directly, they will be recommending strongly that the HR manager move forward in offering me a position in their customer care department.
After an insane near six weeks since moving home, and a temporary disappointment when a place fell through for a really stupid reason, I have not only secured a great place with a really friendly roommate, it's a damn deal cheaper than the original place I was even looking at. I just got the lease signed off today, and am picking up the keys and moving in tomorrow.
Gotta do a bunch of shopping before we actually go over (pots, pans, dishes, that sorta stuff - it's furnished, thank god), as well as groceries. I'm dead tired all the time lately but so, so so so glad to have reached the light at the end of this particular tunnel.
Hopefully means more time to actually focus and play again, too!
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
Walked into the final yesterday, took 15 minutes, got a 93/100 when I clicked submit, headed home. Don't even know why I got dressed! My fellow classmates have been picking me first recently whenever we do the Code quiz games (where we separate into teams and take turns answering questions for points) so I, uh, may have only made the situation worse... pressure pressure.
Some of the other guys are struggling but shop should carry them through to the end, though it won't be pretty. They gotta study more I think but it's understandably hard, some of them are from the rougher parts of the area. But at the rate I'm going I'm pretty much guaranteed a job when I graduate and apparently there's a fuel cell plant opening up in the north of the state! Not exactly what I had in mind but fuel cells are technically renewables so it works. I'll have to see how much of an industrial setting it is, I'd prefer to work more residential (with solar panels and the like), but beggars can't be choosers right?
I'm glad though, I'm kicking ass so far and there's only a couple months of the program left. Can't wait to get decent(ish) pay. Tired of pinching pennies!
Last year was really really rough (lung cancer sucks). 2017's off to a much better start - graduate school has been amazing so far. Here's to hoping the rest of the year is as great as January was.

i'm a rebel
For myself, I gave stoicism a shot 1.5 months ago, and I feel it working. My outlook is already like 80000x more positive than it was.
Who knew a bunch of dead greek/roman guys had anything to teach me?
