Bought some globes thinking I could sell them and get a ship. Learned that you have to buy them FOR the person you want to sell them to. I ended up getting a pair of ogre gauntlets. Winning.
So, I've been playing the game since back around 2006-7, and never once did I think I'd make dragon. Bashing wasn't particularly fun as an old school squishy raja, and I hated the slow feeling of hunting when they added in battlerage. I spent some time re-reading the events of the Tsol'teth invasion and the fall of Ashaxei, there was something about that particular portion of the history which really sparked an interest to get dragonhood. Well, after nearly 10 years...
You slash into a royal guard of Zanzibaar with a curved, rune-etched scimitar. You have scored a CRUSHING CRITICAL hit! You slash into a royal guard of Zanzibaar with a curved, rune-etched scimitar. You have scored a WORLD-SHATTERING CRITICAL hit!!! You have slain a royal guard of Zanzibaar, retrieving the corpse. ENEMY SLAIN!!!!!! Your soul cries out in ecstasy as it reaches new heights of power. You have advanced to level 99. You have reached the illustrious level of Greater Dragon. A large pile of sovereigns spills from the corpse. You feel a surge of energy course through your body as a sycophantic shoulder cape feeds upon the lifeforce of your fallen foe. [Rage]: +3.7. Congrats! Just hit lvl 70 two nights ago--I have a long way to go...
It never becomes more enjoyable unless you are a masochist.. but it does get easier!
In WoW, I did the original Insane in the Membrane achievement before nerf which involved way more time than any human should ever invest in a game. I think I'm sick in the head. Though I still quite enjoy bashing!
Buy artefacts. Then it's easy, fun, and sad all at the same time. Easy because arties, fun because lolcrits, and sad because bank account.
I have had several conversations in my mind about buying at least a couple pieces this week, but my bank account is like, "Nope. Not this time. Try again next week."

That wasn't too bad, if you planned it all out properly. Took a lot of time, but it was pretty easy to manage if you planned it well, and didn't screw up all the goblin reps like so many people I knew did...
Trying to get the Alterac Valley/IOC meta achievement as Horde, back when they won like 1/20 of them... Now that was a good way to do your fucking head in. Never again am I removing those two from my blacklist.

Blech. You're right, some of those PVP metas are absolute nightmares--especially when you throw on the fact I'm rubbish in PvP on my Warlock
At least the grindy ones you can toss on itunes or a movie and zone everything out. The pirate grinding definitely took the longest but was mindless which made it slightly better than farming diamonds in EPL.

Anyone remember Guild Wars 1? There was this starter area, kinda like the pygmy dungeon I escaped yesterday, you're supposed to stay until level 5, the enemies stop giving experience after a point because you outlevel them. But... you could lure a lot of enemies to a resurrection point (think something like the Cave) and have them kill you over and over and over again for like 10 hours or more the higher level you get. When enemies kill you they get experience and level up and so you can kill them and then you can get experience. Half a year later, 1 GPU burned and probably a near-melted CPU for keeping it running 24/7, I managed to get max level in the newbie area and the special title/achievement!
Hoping to put that determination to good use here getting to Dragon, and no hardware burned hopefully since this is just text!
Curse you, @Nicola and @Makarios... Signing up for the Twins tournament then not even competing... Was totally waiting to see that fight, and you DIDN'T EVEN FOLLOW THROUGH. >:(
So... logged in earlier, wandered idly around Caerwitrin for awhile. All is quiet and peaceful. Returned to Cyrene after browsing shops and noticed a peculiar Defence on me.
It turns out that during the ctf I obtained Lifegiver from someone. If there is a saint for blissfully ignorant fools, they were definitely on my side today. Yielded without a hitch.
"Alas. Alas for Hamlin. The Mayor sent east, west, north, and south. To offer the Piper by word of mouth. Wherever it was men's lot to find him, silver and gold to his heart's content. If only he'd return the way he went."

This was after getting a tank explosion at their main gate and an extended ranged battle with guard kills. Fun times.
It is far harder to kill Mhaldorus than Blu though.
