Since when has not calling guards ever been a part of "mainstream combat culture"? The only people complaining about that are the solo and small group raiders who feel that enemy cities should politely oblige them when they come in to cause trouble.

"There's only 1 of them, I guess I'll just 1v1 him here in my city. Surely he won't just run from me or call his friends." -- said no city defender, ever.

When there's a city enemy in your city, you kill the city enemy in the quickest, most efficient way possible, because the enemy is there to kill you (or escape) in the quickest, most efficient way possible. That could mean bringing a group of 4 of my player allies in, because we're certainly have more potential for coordination, but that requires my player allies to be prepared, attentive, and standing by. When it's a surprise visit by a single enemy that will probably run the moment you make contact, and my player allies might be hunting, might be AFK, might have varying degrees of skill and readiness to respond, where as guards are always on standby and you know exactly how effective they are, the choice is obvious.

I'll never understand why a select minority tries to attach this stigma to city defenders making use of all the resources at their disposal. It sounds completely asinine if you try to apply the same logic to any other aspect of the game. "Why do people always touch shield when I break their limbs? It really takes the fun out of this." "Why do raiders always double-block to stop our beckons? Man up, sissies."
False analogies galore. Perhaps the select minority here is Hashan and Cyrene?

suddenly the abysmal e-reputation makes sense.
    Oh well, back to quotes
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!"
Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh."
Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."

Gee. Thanks for playing that card.

You know, I stand by what I said. I think it was pretty lame of you to press the CFH button. Regardless of whether you and I agree or not, it's depressing to see that you are contributing to the elitist bullying that has made this game so dreadful.
  • Maybe if you didn't say such spastic things.

Talysin, do you also scream at the developers for making the grue overpowered when you step into the darkness in Zork?

  • Will 1v1 you inside Hashan, @Talysin

Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
  • Oh I am so f***ing down.
  • People live in cities. If an enemy enters their home, they are going to defend it.

If you want a 1v1 fight, why the hell do you walk into a city to pick a fight?
Why not duel someone? Stand outside the gates and instigate a lonely traveler?

At least the dress was worth it. Next week go back and shop for shoes.

Get allied to a couple of groves in the EI and NI. You'll never regret it.

Man I wasn't a fan of limb prepping, but otherwise I miss how amazing Sylvan and groves were. Would never go back to Eleusis but DEM GROVES GUYS.
And I love too                                                                          Be still, my indelible friend
That love soon might end                                                         You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching                                                      Though quaking
Shown in this shaking                                                             Though crazy

And because the edit lock has closed:

Alrena's voice drips with venom as she tells you, "Any chance you could rezz somewhere?"

You tell Alrena, "My grove. On the way now."

    *Run to grove*

You tell Alrena, "There. Forest's Heart, Aureliana. Need a gate?"

Alrena's voice drips with venom as she tells you, "Up thanks."

*Oh. Okay. I'll just hang around for a couple of minutes and read some stuff, because I'm pretty sure what's about to happen...*

Alrena's voice drips with venom as she tells you, "Ok, need a rezz again."

Rangor tells you, "Hi, where can you rez?"

You tell Rangor, "Forest's Heart, Aureliana."

    Rangor tells you, "Hi."

    Rangor tells you, "Hi."

Rangor tells you, "Where can you rezz?"

You tell Rangor, "Forest's Heart, Aureliana."

Rangor happily tells you, "Used gem, too slow!"

Alrena's voice drips with venom as she tells you, "Where are you exactly? What forest?"

    You tell Alrena, "Aureliana."

Alrena's voice drips with venom as she tells you, "Can you use Marv's?"

Exelethril tells you, "Where's your grove?"

Rangor tells you, "Exelethril needs a soulrezz."

    You tell Exelethril, "Aureliana."

Forestal protip #1: ask @Ravien to share her grove. Because every other grove doesn't matter.
  • Thanks to @Melodie for the delightful conversation/roleplay for one of my house tasks. You seriously made my day!

<lots of conversation and history talk>

Tristyn offers a look of mild amusement as she interjects a quick, but joking comment, "Remind me not to invite you to any soirees I may have..."

Melodie snorts briefly before waving a hand airily. "That's what they all say, but I get invitations all the same. Look at us now - my hand isn't anywhere near trying to rip your heart from your chest." She pauses a moment before adding, "Yet, anyway."

    <Oh damn... let's change the topic!>

Focus on results and you'll never see progress. Focus on progress and you'll see results.
  • Just don't stand up and grab her by the throat. You'll have a fun time. (Non-sexually. I couldn't do that to my boy Aerek.)
