There was a post that detailed the contribution to damage done of int/str/etc. While it was quite informative, a more subjective question seems to be beneficial to me here. Considering Magi, what is a good enough threshold of intelligence to get into PK? I'm very, very interested in hunting, but would like to hold my own. I'd like to have as much constitution I can squeeze out, but still pack enough of a punch to deal with most enemies.
With stoneskin and diamondskin, I had thought about trying con specced Horkval, but that leaves my int quite on the low end. Would it be a shot in the foot for PK?
What would be the optimal hunting race for a Magi? Race isn't something I'm too hung up on now, as I can make the RP I have in mind fit for just about all of them.
What would be the optimal PK race for a Magi?
Please don't think I'm just rushing to the forums to avoid doing the gruntwork! I have my own assumptions from the piles of threads and comments I've read, but it's often nice to hear the opinions of more current folk.

My impression is that if you want to actually learn to use your skills, rather than just buying some arties and hitting your staffcast macro, low intelligence probably won't hurt you too much in low- to mid-tier pvp. I think diamondskin scales with int, so you'll lose some tankiness there, but hork resistance would probably make up for it.
Your defenses scale with int iirc, yes. But you don't need to max it out all that much if you learn how to fight in retardation. Damage without arties is highly unlikely against people who know what they're doing.
I'd definitely go with Int-spec Horkval for leap and armor now that Grook regen got fixed.
What's grook regen at now?
Very limited testing has it at 5% hp/mana every 10 seconds versus the old 25% every 10 seconds. I assume it's separate from regen levels still, but I can't test that right now.
I'd definitely go with Int-spec Horkval for leap and armor now that Grook regen got fixed.
Would that be a boost to hunting power from con-specced grook?
Int Horkval = 13 con 13 Int Con Grook = 14 con 13 Int
There's no way to my knowledge that 1 Con is better than Horkval resists (considering Magi cannot wear armor). I would definitely go Horkval. Int trait versus Con trait is up to you. Also, Leap is fantastic.
Edit: Note that I have no idea on how much Diamond/Stone skins scale with Int.
Can't be mythical, as I know someone with 1,200 lessons in with it.
So basically, anywhere between 913 and ~1100 or so.
Ugh. Can't wait for that weaponry overall, a hundred plus credits for four additional abilities makes me weep.
It's exactly 913 lessons. I know for sure that it's exactly fabled or exactly mythical. I was leaning towards fabled anyways.
Code says Mythical. If someone has it and hasn't spent the requisite lessons, they're either mistaken on how many lessons they've spent in weaponry, or they're under the influence of a divine favour or some other bonus to their skill levels.
Late, but thank you for the clarification!

I don't have any logs to confirm it, but I'm pretty sure I remember diamondskin reducing backstab damage, which would mean it has to be damage resistance and not armour.
So why is (river)fishing with two players in the same room worse than fishing alone (even if fishing in different directions)? Is it latency or something? Processing time?
If I steal (or somebody hands over / sells willingly) a Globe of Shifting Continents and I open it and an artefact comes out, would it be mine or the original owner of the Globe's?
A better way to state this question is : Can they be bought / sold?
When a globe is purchased, it bears the mark of the character it was purchased for. Only that player may open the globe, and globes do reset to you.

Having done Horkvali Magi long ago. I will tell you that you won't be able to really hunt as a magi for any length of time using your staffcast or stormhammer. Aerith and I both got a bastard sword proficiency and bashed with a bastard sword. For PvP it's going to leave you at a definite disadvantage. Stoneskin and Diamondskin both scale with int so they won't be nearly as strong as they were when Aerith and I first did the Horkvali magi thing.

This doesn't really apply now that horkval is only -2 int compared to the high-int races, and str/int doesn't affect damage as much as it used to.
Edit: A Thoth's Fang would easily beat unartied staffcast for a con-specced horkval though (ignoring the fact that for the price of the fang, you could get a collar and robes/diadem).
