  • I would file BUGs for those, all class defences (even if you can give them to others) should be removed when switching class.

They haven't. I've switched back and forth between Alchemist to my other classes several times. The Empower defense and Epistisy Defense stays.

    See. I'm currently Runewarden:

And and the highlighted shows that the Epistisy defense I put up and the Astronomy Empower from when I put them up as Alchemist are both still up.

Extispicy stays between class changes, but remains dormant and doesn't affect your crit rate, same as Occies (idk what the ability is)
    Huh. Neat.

It's an increased critical chance. like... 1.5%  increase or something (if you have a level 3 crit pendant in addition to that defense that is).

No no... with crit tests while bashing as Alchemist.

WHEN YOU ARE NOT ALCHEMIST EXTISPICY IS DORMANT, AND WHILE YOU ARE NOT AN ALCHEMIST IT DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR CRIT RATE.

ETA: 1.5%? Really? That seems super high. Fucking alchemists are great.
    Huh. Neat.

Well, their equil balance is super slow. 3.4s equil with an equil artie (it's even slower than Dragon Incantation). Kinda balances out....

I get that it is dormant when you are not an Alchemist. I'm just stating my estimate increase in crit rate while bashing as Alchemist compared to my non-Alchemist classes. :/
    Den say dat foo
    Huh. Neat.

Got official response about Epistasy and Empowerment from response on Bug Report. They said both are working as intended. So that double confirms the Epistasy going dormant part. But the Empowerment part...

The following notes were included: Extispicy is dormant while you do not have the Alchemist class, and Empowerment is available regardless of class.

What do they mean on the Empowerment part? Is there another means to gain Empowerment outside of the Alchemist class? Is that what they meant?

Someone else can empower you, so whether you got it yourself or from someone else is irrelevant at this point, it's like a priest's blessings, you can do them on other people, not just yourself.
  • Empower lasts until you die or leave realm, so that's very different to anything including runes. It would be quite bloody annoying if it vanished when the alchemist changed class.

  • Do Knight classes have the Colours ability in Chivalry for dying their arrows?

We can dye our arrows once we learn up to QUIVERS in chivalry.

And you won't understand the cause of your grief...

    Paging @Sena

You mentioned before that you could dye and envenom arrows in your quiver as an Alchemist using a L1 bow with the shooting add-on?

Edit: if so, can you just confirm that for me?

You can dye so long as you have the add-on I think. I've been dying quivers and arrows as bard and blademaster before I learned Runewarden. But it's a pain cause you need to find a Knight to give you the syntaxes for quivers since they have that ability description in their Chivalry skillset.

Apparently not, according to a bug response I received

Hence why I'm trying to get some extra input on this from people that already have the Shooting add-on and are not a Knight or Serpent.

    ANNOUNCE NEWS #4264                                     (01/18/2015 at 17:52)
    From   : Tecton, the Terraformer
    To     : Everyone
Subject: Quivers and ranged combat changes
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We've just put a new system for how quivers and arrows are handled, making things a little more user friendly and functional. Here's the details:

    * Quivers now act similarly to card decks and rifts, this also has the added advantage of making all arrows stored in them non-decay.
    * New commands for interacting with your quiver have been added:
       - INQ/INQUIVER - Put an arrow in your quiver.
       - OUTQ/OUTQUIVER - Take an arrow from your quiver.
       - IQ/INSPECT QUIVER [<colour>|<venom] - Take a look at the contents of your quiver.
    * Regular quivers can now hold 500 arrows.
    * Dragonskin quivers can now hold 1000 arrows, and 10 meteor arrows
    * Celestial quivers still retain the ability to hold 50 meteor arrows.
    * Like card decks, quivers provide access to your arrow storage - should your quiver decay, you will not lose the contents. Just pick up a new quiver, and the arrows will still be there.
    * Artefact bow owners now have the ability to DYE/ENVENOM arrows.

Alongside these changes, we've added some tweaks to ranged combat:
    * AIMing has been rewritten, proving a more consistent experience, and has moved to a time-based:-1: bonus, rather than just the next command.
    * SNIPE, SHOOT, BREATHSTREAM, and GROVE LIGHTNING no longer require a direction to be specified when attacking a player.
    * A direction may be specified, which will reduce the balance/equilibrium cost of the ability slightly.
    * A failed directional attack will now incur a small balance or equilibrium cost.
    * The following abilities will now also incur a small balance cost if there isn't a target in range or line-of-sight (depending on the ability):
        - DOPPLEGANGER (Domination) attacks
        - CATACLYSM (Crystalism)
        - CHOKE (Kaido)
        - SOULSPEAR (Necromancy)
        - THURISAZ (Runelore)
        - JUDGEMENT (Spiritlore)
        - STAR (Tarot)
        - Meteor arrows
        - SHOOT/SNIPE (Subterfuge/Chivalry/Artefacts)
        - BREATHSTREAM (Dragoncraft)
        - LIGHTNING (Groves)

Penned by My hand on the 12th of Lupar, in the year 674 AF.

Confirmed. Also, I'm a priest. I've had a ranger's bow with shooting add-on since 2010. I've been able to dye and envenom my arrows just fine for just over a RL year (before I always had to beg a knight or serpent). Anyone with an artefact bow can now. It's glorious.

You can also get the AB file for any* ability in the game via GMCP. There's a link in my signature to the post I put up about how to do it.

*except for the few Weaponmastery abilities that are specialisation specific, share a name, and aren't the same ability (I think it's just Concuss).

You can also find AB files at http://wiki.achaea.com/Chivalry

After a little back and forth with Celani/admin, it is now fixed! Crossbow owners can now dye and envenom their arrows, regardless of class. It was a bug that disallowed it before.

Thanks for finding the news post, @Halos

  • Never, hopefully.

I wouldn't mind the Great Hunt caves being opened up in general from time to time. There's some decent bashing in those things.
    - (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place."
    - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
    - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
    - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
    - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

  • I assume that due to the quiver changes (contents of your quiver being tied to the character rather than a physical object) it's no longer possible to envenom arrows for somebody who doesn't have the ability to do it themselves. Can anybody just confirm that?

  • As far as I've found, it's not possible to envenom arrows for anyone other than yourself.
  • I got a golden giftbag, but I'm confused how to upgrade it? It's supposed to be giftbag upgrade right? But it is just telling me the syntax when I try it

  • GIFTBAG UPGRADE <giftbag###>, you need to specify which one you want to upgrade.
