I remember when I first geared up to put Goryllin into combat, the hp level for being able to enter fights was around 2800- but you really wanted to aim for 3.5k to hang with the better fighters. To watch it slowly evolve to where we are saying people need 5k just to enter combat. Whew. Good thing there are so many more bashing grounds, I guess.

When I retired my unartied scrub-Terra, she had 3500 health. RIP those days.
To be fair though, don't think anyone said you need 5k to even enter combat. I was thinking moreso if you want to have enough to be competitive against artied fighters.
Out of curiosity - how many elite fighters do we still have without artifacts (that enhance combat). Since I have returned, I see a lot of people with artifacts, just like I see a lot of dragons. And nearly every fighter has a crap ton of health compared to the "olden days"
There aren't any active fighters I can think of who would be considered elite and don't have a single artefact. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen anymore necessarily, though. A lot of the elite fighters have been around for a very long time and thus naturally eventually purchased artefacts.
Is anyone familiar with the web client and seafaring maps? The map inlay on the upper right shows what feels like a drastically reduced scale for the seafaring map. But I can't seem to make it appear in the main window as it did traditionally. Has anyone dealt with this?
Did anyone else just suddenly discover that the forum accounts associated with retired characters can't be used anymore?
@Sarapis or @Tecton can this be reversed? It was nice to be able to use the forum handle we've had for literally years. And since the point of retirement is a fresh start, I'm not really keen in the idea of using my new character's name on the forums and making clear that it has the same player behind Tael.
The forums are OOC and losing forum accounts with potentially thousands of posts and names people already know you by shouldn't be a penalty of retiring a character. It's not as if people are forced to post with the characters they play in-game otherwise - plenty of people post under the names of old, inactive characters.
At the very least this should be in the help files (and should have been in the news post). It's especially surprising since the forum account becomes inaccessible when your cookie expires rather than when the retirement goes through.
I dunno how I feel about that.... I mean... you basically gave up your character so you could 'have a fresh start' or whatever... but then you still wanna ride on your old character's coat tails to backseat drive on the forums? >_> NTY
I don't think you should get to keep your forums character. @Skye raises a great point there, and I personally feel that you should be leaving that character behind permanently, not keeping them alive through the forums.
But you're giving up your IG character, not your forum persona. For example, Trevize may no longer exist in game but is well known on the forum. If I ask a coding question and he answers then I know there is a certain amount of credibility behind what he says, rather than that of a new character. I see no reason why you can't keep your forum login if you want to.
While I certainly find it annoying when established names move on to new characters and use their old accounts to snipe here on the forums with relative anonymity, it's not like that wasn't already possible pre-retirement, so I don't think it's a particular concern. Like Sobriquet said, we develop reputations on our "mains" that we use to post here on the forums, and so forcing someone to give up their OOC forum account because an IC character is retired is a little rough, and irritating if they have to plaster their new account with "Yes, I am actually Aerek" so we know who we're talking to.
But at the end of the day, if it's a hard-coded limitation, not sure if there's much to be done about.
-- Grounded in but one perspective, what we perceive is an exaggeration of the truth.

Well, that and if you want to start fresh you probably don't want to tell everyone your alt is Aerek. People get annoyed about ridiculously silly things...
When people ask combat questions, for example, I answer them to be helpful. If I created a nub forum account to answer with that, people would think I was a snobby little know-it-all nub and would be annoyed at that.
But I guess I also can't see how you can "ride on another character's coattails" on the forums. I didn't realize forums itself was some kind of game you can win or lose. To me, it is a place to OOCly share knowledge, which it makes sense for me to do as Xinna, the name people know me by.
'Lo again! First off, I'm glad I listened to folks' advice and didn't trade in my gauntlets. It was kind of a knee-jerk reaction to sucking at Paladin, but I think I've worked through my problems with the help of some very helpful Targossians!
Now, however, I'm planning purchases for the future, and starting to save up credits. I have some questions about Shaman:
1. How fast is a swiftcursed curse?
2. Can you swiftcurse jinx or blights?
3. How do you use jinx? What are the limiters?
4. Can curses be used while prone?
5. Are there any Spiritlore abilities usable while prone?
6. Are there any Vodun abilities usable while prone?
Nothing usable prone other than passive effect of faster tumble (obv) and you can change attunes while prone.
No swiftcurse blight or jinx. No swiftcurse invoke.
Jinx can be used once after you use a regular curse (not swiftcurse) once. You have 5 secs or so after the curse to use the jinx. It has slower balance than curse but curse is faster than old curse (1.8 secs or so iirc).
Curse, Swift curse, blight, and jinx are all separate. You cannot Swift curse a jinx and you have to use a regular curse first before you can use a jinx. Swiftcurse balance is roughly .9 seconds. Jinx also has its own cool down.
If you're prone you're pretty much boned.
I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.
Jinx doesn't have a cooldown, unless you just chose the wrong word.
Swiftcurse doesn't proc the 'energies' you need, to do jinx. Only normal curses do, so basically combat is something like this.
Swiftcurse breach -> curse + invoke (optional to invoke, but you can) -> jinx -> curse + invoke -> jinx. Swiftcurse when needed/wanted in between, to stick alternative afflictions onto them while they're off herb bal.
Generally swiftcurse is only really 'needed' for breach anymore. All the spiritlore abilities tend to come off cooldown quick enough that you're never just gonna be cursing singular afflictions.
You're not gonna kill anyone with just bleeds. Swiftcursed or otherwise. Swiftcurse was largely made redundant when they removed the ability to combo it with invokes, hence why you only really ever use the charges for breaching their curseward. Shaman is an affliction class; if you're not using jinx (or curse+invokes) then you're not gonna be sticking afflictions particularly well, and they're not going to die.

Besides, Xinna isn't dead. She's just relaxing on a beach in the Inferno. Ain't got nothing better than forums to do!

It also has limited charges.
