I personally only use the damage attacks and skip the afflictions altogether when I'm hunting alone or in a group. Don't really see the point of using that rage instead of saving it for my big damage battlerage attack when it is off cooldown.
Same. Most are defensive and my limited testing seems to indicate sensitivity requires a large group to be worth the battlerage, and combo attacks feel like they're doing less than both using the large BR instead.
When I tested, combo attacks were the highest damage/rage you could get, even adding both of the people's rage costs together. That might depend on class, though.

Depends on what you're bashing, in my experience. For example, against Vertani I can just tank everything and damage them to death, since they need to be stacked 6-7 deep to have a chance at outdamaging me. But I'm not about to try any of the LHG/Fissure level stuff without Clumsy/Stun/Amnesia backing me up in case I need a breather (especially LHG, with the pull-back on werewolves; alternately, 3+ slugs in Catacombs).
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
I think you're more artied than I am. I can't take a stack of 4 Vertani with the stun.
To clarify, I was thinking of the Vertani guards with the "6-7 deep" remark.

And yeah, those slugs are evil. Taking on the mummy/underlord boss is cake compared to 3+ slugs.
I don't know if this counts as a quick question, but hopefully so. I am looking for a class with these priorities:
1. Maximize efficiency over time in experience/gold per hour with gold > exp 2. Survivability. Whether while hunting, bashing UW, or defending in raids the ability to survive whether by tanking hits or running away or whatever (preferably the former) 3. Offensive potential in raid defense
So what class does that sound like to you? Also, no/very few artifacts because I probably won't be able to afford them for awhile, but I have a lot of free time on my hands (thus the prioritization of hunting).
Sword & Board Runewarden. Best physical defense in the game. Great hunting DPS. Negligible endurance loss; can hunt forever. Great damage, affliction, and flexibility in group fights.
-- Grounded in but one perspective, what we perceive is an exaggeration of the truth.
Would a Black or Silver giving sensitivity rather than their Battlerage attack be better or worse for overall DPS, assuming Override/the-silver-one is in the same range as Dragonblaze?
Assuming dragonspit is the same DPS as overwhelm and dragonspark/override are the same DPS as dragonblaze (I don't have any faith at all in those assumptions though), your total DPS going for pure damage (attack4 (the second damage ability) then attack1) would be ~346 with 18 str or ~407 with 22 str. Prioritising sensitivity (attack2 then attack4), assuming you always get 3 guts in during the sensitivity (so you never give it more than 2 seconds before a gut) and battlerage damage isn't affected by sensitivity, your DPS would be ~333 with 18 str, ~400 with 22 str. Prioritising attack4 over sensitivity, your DPS would be ~341 with 18 str, ~405 with 22 str.
So straight damage is better than sensitivity, under normal conditions. With Ethian (10% damage boost against denizens) or 24-25 str they'd be about equal, with Ethian AND 24-25 str using sensitivity would be slightly better. If you had faster balance somehow (enough to get gut down to 2.6s, so that's at least a 12% balance bonus), they'd be about equal at 18 str, sensitivity would win at 22 str.
If you use incantation, without a diadem it doesn't work as well with sensitivity because you can only get 2 incantations in 8 seconds. With a diadem it's more sensitivity-friendly than gut though, and with fully artied incantation plus Ethian, using sensitivity is actually slightly better than straight damage. This post is getting long so I won't bother showing the DPS breakdown like I did with gut, unless someone requests them.
If you'd like, I could also more thoroughly calculate how Shunsten (rare mineral that gives higher rage gain) changes things. It gives enough rage to use all 3 battlerage attacks in your rotation, while the spreadsheet I made for this only considers 2 attacks so it would need to be changed a bit. A quick check suggests it doesn't make a huge difference (to how sensitivity compares to straight damage) under normal conditions though. And since I've made a spreadsheet for it, I can easily plug in different numbers for attack info if someone wants me to check sensitivity for other classes or gets numbers for black/silver dragon and it turns out they're different from red.
Question: Most times, the only things I see in the Azdun Catacombs are the undead, but once in an unfortunate while, you get the flesh-eating slugs + skeleton swordsmen described by Sarathai and Trevize. Where do they come from? Is it a really low spawn rate for those, or do you need to do stuff(ie. quest) to make them spawn?

They wander up from the bottom level of the catacombs.
(D.M.A.): Cooper says, "Kyrra is either the most innocent person in the world, or the girl who uses the most innuendo seemingly unintentionally but really on purpose."
There are accursed skeletons, flesh-eating slugs, undead knights, unravelling mummies, vicious ghastly, and the bosses (Dreyvos, Seroth, Rhuzios).
Skeletons respawn extremely fast (most of the time I can't even clear one side before they start to repop), but slugs and mummies/knights take longer. It sounds like you just have bad timing.

Ah, right, was talking about that particular level - the one with Ulgase. Sometimes I see a solitary slug + skeleton swordsman.

With those other undead things you mentioned, I think we're talking about two different areas. Where are those found?
@Krypton: Nice. You learn something new everyday. Though given the fact that those slugs are a nightmare, I don't think I'll be touching that place anytime soon. I'd rather fight with Ulgase while aeonlocked.

Ulgase follows. Nothing else in her room does. She's easy to pull out and kill.
The area below Ulgase has three bosses (bosses defined by you not being able to crit against them) and tons of undead and slugs. Those slugs are terrible.

Ya. It came out soon after the Fissure of Echoes, as one of the new 99+ bashing zones.
Now you know why hardly a day goes by when some Dragon isn't killed by a slug or "minion of Dominar" on deathsight.
Sixty-nine rooms give or take a couple, going off memory.

there is an odd situation with Dreyvos, Seroth, Rhuzios where they chase, but their chase range is limited to 1 room away from the staircase back up to Ulgase's level (iirc this was the fix against them running around the world after someone lead one of them to a newbie area, another was in the Goblin Village, and another was sitting contently in Thera) - which allows for a pretty much flawless hit&run tactic
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."
Is there a server-side syntax to configure which is my elmpipe? The pipes seem to be refilling themselves automatically (no system installed), but it keeps putting elm in literally the only pipe I have that's non-artefact.

I am not sure but maybe if you empty them and manually put plants in them and then do PLIST maybe it will start to use the ones you want?
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby

The only Vertani that stun don't follow/stack like that unless you go straight for the two big ones up top and let them call all their little buddies.
