Yeah, the above build is a bit more trained towards PvP.

I'd actually suggest either the above and replacing lethal ink with lucky/aim to kill, or doing quick-witted, robust (+1 con) OR receptive body (additional sipping for health), and then again either lucky/aim to kill. Both work pretty well, once you have Viridian suitability shouldn't be an issue, but I find if you're sticking to strictly PvE, might as well do +con, but if you have a chance of getting involved in semi-regular PvP, the +int is nice.

Does CURING ON/OFF also turn on/off CURING DEFENCES if already set? eg I have curing on and curing defences on, and I want to stop both, do I need to turn both off or would CURING OFF cover both? /rambling

  • @Klendathu CURING OFF covers both.

    Getting wundersys works!

For PvE you'll almost always want +con, since the higher health increases your sipping almost as much as receptive body, along with increased moss, boar, berkana, and any other percentage-based health regen.

I would, but I'm a luddite. I'd still be using TinyFugue if I hadn't deleted it 10 years ago when I went dormant!

  • Is it still possible to get the Shala-Khulia honours line? I've gotten pretty far into the quest (the staff is whole), but there doesn't seem much to do, and I know there was a second even at Shala-Khulia that might have shifted things around. Just want to know if I'm wasting my time going through the hassle of getting the staff just to test random stuff.

Hate asking for quest hints, but this doesn't really count. Just want to know if it's possible and I'm just missing something, or not.

TinyFugue users unite! (or former users, anyway)

  • For Blademasters, how useful is strength for hunting, and for combat? I haven't been able to find numbers on it (searching on Achaea forums leaves much to be desired).

Basically, given 12 strength, would it be better to put the trait towards strength for 13, or constitution for an extra 200-250 health?

Not a Blademaster, but I'd recommend constitution anyway. More health affects both how much damage you can take and how much you can heal. Bashing damage is a negligible increase and your damage will eventually become a function of "How often and fast can you crit something to death".

  • I'd probably go with the con for hunting, since blademasters aren't very tanky so they need all the survivability they can get, unless you mostly bash things that you can deal with fine without the extra con. More generally, strength is as important for blademasters as it is for knights, jesters, druids, sentinels, and priests. They all use the same strength formula (monk might also, but I'm not really sure), and it's a simple percentage bonus. And the lower your strength, the more benefit you'll get per point (both in terms of flat damage added and proportionally to your current damage).

Not sure on combat. I don't think it matters as much as for hunting though, since strength doesn't affect limb breaks, so it will only help when trying to kill with raw damage (disclaimer: I'm not 100% sure on the accuracy of any part of this sentence).

  • Probably con, then. I'm only doing casual combat for quite a while.

    Thanks guys!

Although, to be fair, if you're not Mhaldorian, I recommend Dexterity to avoid arrows or Intelligence to avoid being Catharsis-ed.

    Survivability is key!

This is basically true, and damage kills as a blademaster are also somewhat strange. They've been done, but there's definitely a hard limit to how much damage you can deal out, and while strength boosts that, there will still definitely be health values you just won't be able to kill, since there's no strongly percentile damage finisher.

So confused about monolith sigils.  I could have sworn that at one point,  I thought (wrongly) that if you were in a room with a monolith when the prism began, and moved, the prism wouldn't complete, and that then someone proved that it would always complete even if you did move.  Now, whether that was ever true or not, I understand from reading HELP PRISM that if the target moves, the prism actually will fail (which means that what I thought before being proven otherwise is now correct).  Was the first scenario ever true or have I scrambled something?

  • If you're out of the room when the prism would complete, it will fail. A monolith sigil (if it's there when the prism is started) just doubles the time the prism takes.

So, you see the prism message, you leave the room, and you stay out of the room: prism fails.
You see the prism message, immediately leave the room, and come back less than 6 seconds later: prism completes, because you're in the room at the end.

Just make sure you stay out of the room for at least 6 seconds if there's no monolith, 12 seconds if there is a monolith.

  • I think you have prisms and portals confused. Prisms are quicker if there is not a monolith present, but can be attempted regardless, and break if the target moves. Portals cannot be attempted if a monolith is present, are stopped when a monolith is dropped, but will still complete if the target moves.

When you do QUICKWHO (qw) and the total number of people it gives you in the realms, does that include veiled/gemmed people?

EDIT: And to add on to that question, does it also include phased/astralformed/blackwinded people, and any other type of ability like that?

  • MelodieMelodie Port Saint Lucie, Florida

    Not precisely.

For non-SVO users, when you QW, you'll see something like: Plus another 41 whose presence you cannot fully sense.

Now, if you QW2, you'll see a slightly different line: Plus another 4 whose presence you cannot fully sense (181 total).

Finally, if you use SVO, Vadi added in a feature to it so when you use QW, you see this: Plus another 43 (179 total) whose presence you cannot fully sense.

I believe this does count all people in phase/astral/blackwind, veiled/gemmed, offplane, islands etc. I don't believe it counts anyone in an editor (so journal, news, etc), or any Gods that are invisible to you.

  • What news boards are considered IC and OOC?  Like, I know city and house and public.  But is events, announcement, etc.  IC?

  • MelodieMelodie Port Saint Lucie, Florida
I always considered events 100% IC (I very often refer to it IC, too), while announce is OOC. I believe all the rest, save OOC clans and a very few odd boards most people don't have access to (Leaders, Guides, Mortal Builders, etc) are IC.

  • Agreed. Events is a bit weird, since they're generally posted by "Anonymous", so it remains a bit uncertain on how our characters would perceive them: i.e. is there an actual IC events newsboard on which events posted are posted by some mysterious unknown person and all of Sapience keeps wondering who is recording this? Or does "Anonymous" merely stand for a group of lore keepers which are known to the IC populace but not actually specified? Or is the entire authorship a suspension-of-disbelief thing we should just try to ignore and simply consider events news to be general "important stuff that got to the public's attention"?

I suppose we can pick whatever we prefer there.

  • Yeah, that's pretty much the side I was leaning to as well. I never doubted that it was IC.

Well, now I am going to read every events post as if trogdor wrote it. Thanks!

Oh, so that's the large lizard with bulky arms that was following me into the sewers.  Now, I don't understand why he couldn't just port himself there, but I guess he wanted to make sure he got the whole story while watching us.

Does WALK TO randomly stop for no apparent reason for anyone else? When I send WALK TO again, it says I'm already walking somewhere and have to STOP.
