found out who my new character is, ALISTAIR RULES yes shitty cooldown times but alot of fun to play :P any sugestions on improvements of items i have are welcome i have two frozen mallets because it was near end game and i have most of the stuff for another one so i just chucked my last 1000 or so at another one
I've noticed that people throw less games when I go psycho ward support... Ward every bush you come across. Keep sightstone+3-4 wards in your pack after shopping and the game usually goes quite well.
Shen has got to be the most boring champ to play... (Or play against, depending on what champ you have top lane) - PS stop playing Shen jungle pls, he clears so slow at the start.
so i have nearly 2000 ip and im looking for a champion to buy, i want a ranged person, i have plenty of melee but i wanna get into apc or mid laners (if they are the same thing then oh well i dont even know haha) i still dont know what adc stands for exactly just that it is either attack damage carry or ability damage carry? idk oh well perks of being a newb... all i know is they go bottom lane :P anyway i realise that i should play all the champs and see which ones i like best but i dont get enough games in each rotation to try every champ so im just looking for some recomendations on who you think would be fun and how much they are! thanks
mid-laner and apc are -usually- the same thing, but there are non apcs that are played mid. Mostly because they counter apcs.
APC stands for AP carry, as in, they build the AP stat to "carry"[Edit: Because their skills all scale off of AP, and deal a large amount of, magic damage. It's (usually) a bad idea to not have a source of magic damage(which mostly comes from the APC/mage) on a team, as an all physical damage team allows the enemy to build armour to beat you]. Carry is a bit misleading nowadays, but we still use the term. ADC stands for AD carry, who builds AD items to do the bulk of their damage off of auto-attacks(and in the case of melee based ADCs, sometimes off of their massively AD-scaling skills)
Some non-AP roles that can be played mid and work are Zed(probably the most common), Aatrox, Fiora( @Erasariel claims this is the only way to play Fiora), Pantheon, and Kha'Zix. Those aren't the only ones, I'm sure, they're just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Really, kinda best to play free-week champions and find ones you like.
That's how I started playing. I played Pantheon during a free-week, loved it so much I bought him as my first champion and played him almost exclusively till level 20 or so. At that point I started dabbling with mages(APCs) and marksmen(ADC)[mage and marksman are now the official Riot term for these roles]. And I only really play Panth on the rare occassion I play Dominion.
As for good mages early on? Annie... uh... Anivia and Karthus can be good, but they're very farm based early. I'm not sure how easy Anivia is to learn, cause her combo is a little tricky. But yeah, Annie is pretty much the newbie guide to mages. Veigar also works as a newbie mage, but he's kind of a snowball or fail champion most of the time. And his CC is hard to properly use if you're not used to it... but Veigar and Annie will teach you to last hit. Veigar especially. (since killing minions with his Q gives you a permanent AP boost).
If you don't have Annie, I'd suggest Annie as a good mage. She's only like 650IP or 350 or 450 or something. Is it 450? I'm not logged in.

The usual. Sorc boots, rabadons, zhonya's. Rod of Ages works as well, but you want to make that your first rush or don't get it at all probably. Deathfire grasp works really well on Annie, because her combo is pretty much a 100-0 burst. If you don't kill them, you're dead. DFG helps secure that.

Can also go ROA / Archangels like Daklore said, she can stack AA pretty quickly with short cds + last hitting with Q, for extra survivability. Edit: Rylais can be substituted in Athene's place, if you need some more health. The slow from it is good, too.

Lissandra is pretty good because of her passive- every 18 seconds, her next spell costs no mana.

Prime example of when you should take a break from LoL.
Also prime example of why you don't first pick Amumu jungle lol.
