I really need to play SR again ... but my computer gets bad framerate when I use skills.
And I'm not used to smartcast... and in some cases, I hate the idea of smartcast(Cho'gath's rupture, Caitlyn's Ace in the Hole, Malphite's Unstoppable Force as examples, because I need to see where it's going to affect and/or how far away it can be cast)
u_u New computer too far down the pipeline, though. I guess I'll stick with ARAM. Framerate drops don't really make it a bad experience for teammates there... usually...
(I usually only get about 25FPS in game, dropping down to 18 or so in team fights... minus another 10 or so when I bring up a skill target thing off of smartcast)
When Canada rules the world, things will be... nii~ice.
Hold the button down, shows you distances, target area, etc. Skill fires on button release. It can be cancelled, and even though I use it all the time, I have no idea what I do to cancel it, it's something ingrained that I can't recall.

---Remember that smart casting means you don't get the targeting graphic,
which can make it harder to accurately aim skillshots. They will fire
instantly, instead of showing the skillshot for fine tuning the shot.
However, there is an option to turn range indicators on, which will show
the targeting graphic while the ability key is pressed. This can also
be helpful because the ability can then be canceled by right-clicking.
I prefer to play without smart cast... but, like I said, those range indicators/line of shot things drop my framerate by like 10 whenever I pop them up.
Which has led to some... rather... odd uses of skillshots.
Such as me using Caitlyn's .90 caliber net.... and shooting the opposite way I wanted because the lag registered me firing it -after- I moved my mouse after clicking.
So I get catapulted into the enemy team. Or just aiming a skillshot off into the distance and not hitting anything. I can hit better with smartcast at this point >.>

Sweet that y'all want me to play with you, but I am not on an American server. And also I won't. Because it will end in death. Yours. Because I am fabulous.
First time jungling with Nautilus, ganking was a bit hard since my team was pushing very hard all the lanes.. but he is fun, that ult is the doom of the adc's hehe

First ranked game. Do ok. 5/6/8 edit: 6/7/21 as Lulu. We shut down our lane; their ADC is Teemo with support Sona, against Lulu/Cait, so it was about as taxing as pushing over a small child. Unfortunately our mid goes 1/12 as Ziggs vs Fizz, spending most of his time chatting in Español with our team's top lane Garen. 25 minutes of frustrating but more or less even team fights later, we encounter the previously shut-down Teemo again, and holy shit he massacres us all. Sad face.
Second ranked game. Not playing support this time, praise Satan. I go mid as Malzahar. Their team picks an Orianna. I'm nervous but whatever. Orianna starts Tear. Upgrades it into... Manamune. My final score is 27/4/9. wat. We win. (Enemy Orianna's final build was AS boots, Malady, Muramana, Nashor's, and the components of Deathcap.)
so after watching a few videos and reading through this thread and then watching more videos, I decided to give this game a try
my summoner name is vKeresZ - please add me, I would love to play with some Achaea people and learn the ropes
my first game, played soraka top with rumble.. pretty fun! except I died twice from my mouse anyone know how to make it so the mouse wheel doesn't zoom in and out?

does anyone know a good site to get tips on what items to build? that game I started with philosopher's stone and ionian boots of lucidity, then bought a frozen heart on my next return (had 3000+ gold and it looked good, needed cooldown reduction), then a shurelya's reverie I think it's called.. I have no idea if those were good buys though, just kinda went with what looked nice that I could afford, so tips here would be greatly appreciated

@Keres: Solomid.net is usually held as the foremost source of champion guides, and many of them are written in great detail (even covering recommended lane mechanics and discussions on skill usage). There -are- other sites like Mobafire, you may wanna give that a try too.

I use the guides on lolking.net if I need a hint or two, but for most of us, you kinda just know what you should build because you've been playing/watching enough to have it in your head somewhere.
The recommended items Riot suggests -usually- work too, but they aren't adaptive to the game(not that you really need to be, but, it can help sometimes)

I used Solomid guides a lot, but many of them have not been properly updated for season 3.
Mobafire guides are often sneered at, and for good reason. There are some good ones but many are junk, and it's not always easy to tell them apart.
Lolking seems to have pretty good guides but I have not used it much.
It's best to read several guides then make up your own mind. Treat them as a starting point.
Also bear in mind that guides are written for the way the game is played at level 30. At lower levels, the suggestions still apply, but the game is quite different.
I definitely won't follow any guide blindly but it is sure nice to be able to read a little bit about the different strategies behind the champions I don't know anything about
tho the recommended builds seem to be working for me with most of the champs and even within those builds there is room for situational picks
for most of us, you kinda just know what you should build because you've been playing/watching enough to have it in your head somewhere.
haha yeah well I have 3 games under my belt and while I have watched probably 12-15 videos, that's definitely not enough to cover item builds in depth, or very many champions.. I got the itch now tho so I'm sure it's only a matter of time
thx again for the advice and encouragement, I hope some of you add me so we can play win together

(PS - You can choose which abilities are smart casted, it's not like you have to have 100% smart cast, or 0%. )
