  • How much scripting is needed for each of those? I will not use more than basic triggers/macros
  • Scripting is not needed for any class.
  • Kay thanks, some things I read elsewhere gave me a bad impression I guess. So priest, sylvan, or shaman, not dw, psion, serp, or jester? Those seem like the other main aff classes, just not as good at hunting?
  • It depends on your budget. Psion and Depthswalker are pretty bad no matter what, but honestly they're not so awful that you shouldn't pick them if your main focus isn't going to be bashing and you think either of them would be fun.

Serpent isn't great with no artefacts. You're either sacrificing health or garrote speed when choosing between dexterity or constitution with your racial specialisation and trait selections. If you have 20,000 credits to drop purely on making a class good at bashing then Serpent is probably the best choice of any class in the game.

Bard isn't on your list, but that's also an affliction class. Like Serpent, it's also fantastic if you can invest a lot of credits into it. However, unlike Serpent, you're only losing damage - not attack speed - if you pick constitution over strength, so it's much less of an issue to do so.
  • Okay, I will most likely go with shaman or psion then, priest is a maybe. Thanks all.
  • I wouldn't go Psion.
No matter how artied you are, if bashing is on your list of things to do do not pick Psion.

I can't imagine there are any classes right now that are worse than Psion at bashing.  Even fully-artied, my psion's bashing ability is less than my snb paladin's.
  • so artied I can’t even make the squishy joke I wanna make.

Apostate is absolutely abysmal, if psion is even worse it's not worth playing.
  • Apostate bashing isn't that bad. Deadeyes is pretty meh, but Decay is alright (same scaling as Warp iirc). Downside to apostate is needing quick-witted/diadem to bash well with, despite it using balance predominantly for combat.
  • How does masochism work? Is it %health damage or Is it pretty much unnoticeable for fatties?
  • I am a runewarden, and am 2h for now, but might switch after I get high enough level. I want a limb damage class that let’s me get to do combat without having to do a huge amount of math, not interested if I have to calculate different amounts for 4k, 4.1k, and 4.2k. Having some affs to play around with would be nice, but I want them to be an addition not a requirement, so I can flee and come back without losing much but hinder. So, what are the advantages/disadvantages of sticking with 2h, vs switching to dwc around level 85 or 90?

  • Not sure how to edit, but it is also worth mentioning I want at least some versatility and most likely will not be buying credits any time soon. Would consider sandb, but saw in an old post it’s limb damage sucks, so would require a lot more calculating I would do while being stabbed to death.

    1. 4 hits to break limb of all health, uncomplicated math, checked.
    2. affs to play around, checked.
    3. not be buying credits, checked.
    4. still keep your 2h, no switching needed.
You just need to not stop at level 90.
  • Okay, sounds good, also is fire lord still awful after the changes or is it good now? I am doing a lord, not sure witch.

It's still definitely the worst one. Don't know if it's even viable.
  • Can someone explain to me the difference between true blind and blackout? I know true blind helps you bypass totems and runes but is there any other differences?

Blackout prevents you seeing a plethora of useful information, health, attacks (such as limb hits to throw off self-counts), have to DIAG to track your incoming afflictions.

trueblind is blind, but things like wunjo don’t penetrate it, so you won’t see totems and anything thay requires you to be able to see. There are exceptions, but I don’t have a list on hand with that regard (afaik you can’t be transfixed by magi, but can be snapped by serpent? I haven’t personally tested either, and I’m not super reliable source!)
  • Is there a way to "unphase" as mistral or is it a wait-it-out kind of thing?

  • Wait it out as far as I can tell

    (Party): Mezghar says, "Stop."
  • SophiSophi Rally Point
Can you forsake air while mistraled

Yeah that is what I thought, does it act like a stronger verison of blackout where they wont see affs and limb damage as well?
  • Trueblind is just blind without mindseye up.
  • What's the best way to fight Alchemist? I couldn't come up with anything conceptually. Once they blast their bleeds I just try to escape for a minute or two to sip/clot, which is pretty dull considering how fast they get it.

Anything I can optimize to maximize toe to toe time?

What I did was doing impaleslash earlier sometimes just scares them off for 30s allowing me to cure down, but they may stay and risk it if they are near their endgame, which I have no choice but hangman the BM style, which is also offensive. If I were an alchie facing a BM playing like this, I probably won't fight him ever again... But if you are against an alchie who does nothing more than temper san wrack para for bleed burst, it's pretty boring and super quick, other than evade slow prep, you are pretty much left with impale spam as defense and offense.

I am pretty sure you can avoid the bleed-route entirely and more or less negate it by not clotting outright/not clotting on corruption gained. This buys you time to stay in the room during the burst because you're not in an immediate threat of being killed, though you are certainly somewhat at risk. What I mean is that, if you do clot, you will clot yourself to death in like less than 2 seconds -- maybe faster -- but if you don't clot, you can sip through the initial bleed stack and continue attacking before having to really assess whether or not you need to leave the room, without losing whatever momentum you might have had leading up to this moment.

disclaimer: this understanding comes from what I've learned from @Uvian , who has used this strategy as a primary approach against people who clot, or do not have corruption handling, such as myself, until he explained the above to me. I no longer die to that route. In my case as serpent however, it forces him to go the pure locking route and marble para/imp/stupid spam into his rotations which effectively hinders me and prevents any and all of my stacking, placing a huge importance on me getting the first hit on a rotation where I need to stick to him every step of the way to generate a locking condition, so even though I don't die to the clot, I don't exactly gain much up-time in the moment dealing with it -- I simply force a reset. Mileage obviously differs class-by-class. But I think not clotting smartly buys enough time, that you can then use to optimize your dealing with it.
  • What affliction classes hunt well? It seems like a lot of the good hunting classes are prep.

Shaman is your best bet if you're going unartied.
  • Hmm sounds like I should manually clot. I guess the challenge comes when corrupt hits, my mana tanks and he starts actively pressuring health. Shield effective? Lyre/sip?

You can be forced to take some hefty passive damage from formulations if you sit behind lyre, among other things. If he didn't expect corruption to kill you at first, you wouldn't have the opportunity to shield for long; it would be easy to use it and break your health over choleric, if timed correctly (rather than building choleric after the fact because the easiest kill didn't work).

Copper strips your shield every 2.3s (assuming no diadem or quick-witted), and any affliction available to an Alchemist can be delivered with that educe. Temper cannot be used in that combo (between copper/wrack - it can be used before copper but that is pointless).
