Decided to take part in a ship race for the very first time. Nerves, abound, but despite being shot a few times, I didn't sink and finished the first leg!
Still need to put weapons on my ship, but reminded me how much I love sailing. I am constantly worried of getting sunk, but there is something rewarding in navigating chops, turning at the right time, and watching your ship cleave the water.
These championship games were amazing. I never thought in a million years that I would win the Staff of Nicator, and here I am. The support I received from Targossas, even when nearly every city seemed to want me to lose (due to an alliance with a group of misunderstood waifus, what gives?), was spectacular. Not only the direct support in the individual contests but the encouragement all along the way. Thank you all, again and much .
Even if I had not won the staff, these games were the most fun I've ever participated in. Those xpevent battles in UW and Annwyn, starting with just Ashtan vs Targossas and expanding into Coalition vs Tsol'teth sympathizers were epic and the most fun I've ever had in an xpevent. The foozle being focused solely on Yggdrasil was a very fun change. It also helped someone like me a lot because I only needed newer knowledge and not to learn all the old stuff I never bothered learning before all in a few days. Twins was insane - highly competitive and terrifying, and barely managing to grab 5th was necessary to my overall victory. Phew.
Sojourn can die in hell. (it was really fun to try something new though and saved me from tumbleraces, which I despise - tumbleraces may well have taken away my victory, phew again). And then there was quiz, which was so ridiculously hard I could win by not knowing most of the answers. I went into quiz thinking I was not going to make it to Staff, and as the game went on and I saw it happening, I got this crazy high.
Great games, everyone. Solid performances from both Dunn and Crixos, both of whom I worried might pass me. Thank god I don't have to explain to my firegod why I let that dirty rotten swamp dwelling no good Nihilist win the legendary Staff of Nicator though.
Well done @Farrah! But now comes your greatest challenge of them all! The Curse of the Staff! Will you be the first to triumph over it or will it overcome you like all the others? Be strong Farrah for you will be tested!

"After winning the staff I've pursued since Little League, I have decided it best to go out on top. Therefore I am announcing that effective immediately, I am retiring from Team Targ to spend more time with my family. And maybe commentary on TT TV."
Since I did some complaining in the other thread, let me do some raving about what I really liked about this event:
1) I thought the mechanic of fighting tide was very well done. Everyone could participate in it, it gave good tangible rewards, and it was really nice to have a way to interact with the event that wasn't dependent on an admin animating a denizen. I understand some people got burnt out on it, and I sympathize with that, but for me it really it found a good balance of feeling meaningful without feeling oppressive.
2) I thought the Tsol'teth takeover of Cyrene was really cool. The changes to the cityhelp, the new laws, etc. were really cool to see. This might be easier for me to appreciate as someone who isn't Cyrenian, but I thought the flavor of that part of the story was really compelling.
3) At least while they lasted, I liked the practice of having the Tsol'teth post their status reports. It was a good way to be able to catch up on the event, and give me hooks to ask people about for more details. I would have liked to see these continue through the end of the event (or even be resurrected now).
4) Lastly, I think @Keorin and the Seleucarian games were the single most enjoyable and compelling player-organized event I've ever seen. While I have some disappointments about how everything shook out, I really hope the Seleucarian games will have a lasting legacy. I would love to see them revived for celebrations and memorials of Cyrene's triumph over the Tsol'teth in the future.
I changed class recently to something I've wanted to learn to use properly since I started playing, and I'm having a blast.
@Dynos and @Ayani have been willing, and patient punching bags while I rehaul most of what I've built, slowly but surely. They've also helped me gain most of the lessons I lost in switching with some helpful trades and outright displays of kindness.
@Tasus for always willing to test anything and everything that can be lethal or fatal. More often than not it's both.
Everyone in the Shield has helped me with any questions I've had - even if I stubbornly try to learn things on my own at first. And they're always encouraging those of us inexperienced to keep trying and picking ourselves up.
I also owe a big rave to @Navarr who has been a wonderful tailor for this change. I know I'm always flinging ideas at you, and I'm never sure if they'll work out, but you constantly show me how they can with enough hard work and thought. Now if only you would just accept my damn gold for all these commissions.
A rave to the Virtuosi. You're all crazy, but I adore you anyways.
A rave to all the city antagonists recently. Without you I wouldn't have anyone to flail at, or put all these new skills to use.
And a huge rave for @Keorin. You put in a ton of work for things, and you still find the time to try and wrangle us all together and encourage us forward.
There are far too many others to list who have made the general atmosphere a lot more enjoyable lately. So, I'll end this sappy and saccharine post here.
"Alas. Alas for Hamlin. The Mayor sent east, west, north, and south. To offer the Piper by word of mouth. Wherever it was men's lot to find him, silver and gold to his heart's content. If only he'd return the way he went."
Raves at our new MoC @Deziny for jumping in with enthusiasm, and getting a bunch of aides and Eleusis in general excited about culture again. Raves also to the new aides Isaeri, Braxxus, @Ryx, and I don't know who else, who have been helping share the huge workload that Culture always entails.
Also, I finally got my cooking license, which I have been wanting ever since Cailin was 19 or 20! Submitted my first two designs and it feels AMAZING.
Ranty rave: there's so much I want to do and I don't have time for it all, and I swore to myself I wouldn't overdo it this time and have to go dormant again >.<
The fair overall has been super fun to plan for. I've been interacting with a lot more people because of it and I really enjoyed some of the ideas people came up with, and the overall enthusiasm for it. Super excited to see what you guys are doing for it too!
I just want to commend the guys in Eleusis for a war well fought. It was pretty clean throughout (Few exceptions on both sides) and in the main played out with a decent amount of respect. I'll single out @Andraste for making the tough decision at the end, and lets hope it brings some decent engagement between the two cities going forward that isn't just bloodshed.
I was pleased to be a part of it and while I appreciate that's probably easier to say from our side given the outcome, I hope the others did too.
That doesnt mean what you think it means. Despite Krizal's misleading post, it was supposed to be a diplomatic ending. She went back and decided to rub our noses in it to paint a different picture. Par for the course though.
Shows how both sides view the same event. They had people actively leaving the army and city due to this, at the same time we were actively discouraging raids (especially after a 2 tank 40 guard wipe) as we felt it was too much.
But apparently that means it's a draw.
Although, I did say on OOC clan when Krizal showed me the conversation with Andraste that i didn't think the definition of the war ending was clarified.
Don't want to be too negative about things as Eleusis were great to fight through all this, and IC feel free to stoke the propaganda train, but at least acknowledge here that Hashan clearly won.

Reaching down with a massive hand, Sartan lifts your head and draws a taloned finger across your throat, the wound closing as He does so.
The soul of Ashmond says, "Always with the sniping."
