I'd be fine with that, yeah. But keep in mind that I mostly was just questioning its removal from the non-housed full member advancement. Housed people already have the whole HR2 thing going, which is perfectly sufficient, and my issue was with non-housed people being able to get away with just a level requirement in contrast to this. I don't think a time requirement on the non-housed ones is such a terrible thing.

As for "doing an actual active effort to promote joining them": well, getting people to join a house is usually not hard. The hard part is making them stick around and get engaged enough to want to advance. I certainly agree that this should primarily happen through houses having a great atmosphere that makes people want to get involved more deeply with them, but mechanical benefits are always very alluring at the very start. People want levels, skills, equipment, and they're often going to go for the easiest way to get those, initially. If the easiest way lies outside houses, and is as easy as just bashing lots, that's what they'll do. But this creates a vicious circle, of houses getting less members, and less advancing members, and thus in the long term less members who are able to provide said engaging environment and atmosphere to newcomers, making them even less inviting. That's why certain mechanical benefits can still be helpful to keep a house healthy enough to be able to reach its full potential in atmosphere.
  • I'm still not sure how it would be easier to get levels, skills and equipment outside an House rather than inside one even with this change, unless said House imposed a maximum level per rank or a particularly stringent time limit. Even on a purely mechanical basis, a new player would still likely benefit from cheaper cures, tattoos, perhaps runes or even an icon.

It's probably easier to get level 50 than HR2 in most cases.

As I said elsewhere, determined hunters, alts, or people familiar with IRE games could probably get level fifty in a day or two. Couple hunting with quests that offer experience, and I bet it would go more quickly. The same people could probably get HR2 in the same amount of time, since hunting and questing loan themselves to earning gold for requirements, but from what I've noticed, the people who want to be able to instantly transcend their skills aren't the sort of people who are really interested in joining a House. I don't think this change will have much of an impact at all in regard to House populations or retention - people who are inclined to join Houses will, and those who aren't won't. Overall, I concur with @Iocun - Achaea seemed to be moving toward creating an environment that encouraged player interaction, but this change takes a step backward. It's kind of disappointing.

Anyway, to stay on-topic, I do have a couple of raves - the first, completely in-character rave goes to @Orklanishkal and @Colivar, who have been wonderful motivators and cohorts, and who never fail to bring a smile to my face whenever I log in. The second is to @Vadimuses, for his exemplary assistance and enduring patience whenever I screw something up with svo, which seems to be pretty much every time I update the system. If I were him, I would have murdered me by now. ;)
My avatar is an image created by this very talented gentleman, of whose work I am extremely jealous. It was not originally a picture of Amunet, but it certainly looks a great deal like how I envision her!

Level 99 and then over a week later actually choosing a color. Went black, obv. Calad finally gets a break.
Last one should be a rant.
Nice flight you had over the Mhojave there too, by the way.

Losing their light in the glorious sun,
Thus would we pass from this earth and its toiling,
Only remembered for what we have done."

  • The Naga, and Jurixe.
    They are amazing.
When a girl is having a bad week, and people can make her smile.
Those people are very rare indeed.
And I love them for it, thanks guys.

  • First @Jacen because that is EXACTLY the best response I could hope for. I look forward to seeing where all of this goes.

Next up on @Mindry and @Verily for more fun conversations for the next project Illyose has in mind, just isn't sure quite how to tackle.

Followed by @Mannimar and @Trevize. Awesome awesome RP, so rarely seen done right in the past. Thanks so much for all the convos afterward, despite their awkward beginning.

    Great great day.

Raves about Mhaldorians. The nice attitude helps us survive the rough times even without papa Sartan.

    Hearts @Kyrra. You know why!

@Thiev and @Earionduil for helping and then dragging me along and putting up with my mistakes.

Also, @Orzaansyn for choosing to be my novice. I like you loads already. So endearing.
