It's a beautiful winter's day today: clear skies, sun, and perfect temperature. I am feeling wonderful for no apparent reason, like my glands decided today they will produce an above average amount of dopamine, and I have a beer tasting to look forward to as part of my best friend's birthday celebrations. Also, my boyfriend is flying up from Cape Town in 2 weeks (haven't seen him in 3 months) and I can barely contain my excitement. Long distance dating sucks.

Am I allowed to rave about things I did? I'm not raving about myself per se but really just how lovely it feels to do something spontaneously nice for someone every now and then.

On my way home I gave a homeless man the 2nd of my 2 sandwiches that came with my meal. He said thank you so much, god bless and sat down from begging (where he'd been at least 4 hours since I saw him on my way out) at the stop light to eat it and kept waving at me and smiling the whole time I idled there.

Felt good man. Good feels, such good feels. Feels nice to feel like you gave someone a little hope and made their day.

  • Big, Big Rave for @Cesarina and yes, @tesha - that was a lot of fun. Thanks!

Playing LoL with a couple of friends, one of which had a voice changer activated with the deep voice. I had just gotten a triple kill and was chasing down a fourth with Tryndamere. The enemy already had low health, so the kill was pretty much guaranteed. Right before I spun into him and killed him, my buddy said "Finish him!". With the Deep Voice mode....it sounded Just like the MK version. I died shortly after due to being distracted by laughing, and missed my chance at my first ever Pentakill. Worth it...lol.

I have recently re-installed all nineteen (yes, nineteen) of the Sims 3 PC game and all of its associated expansion/stuff packs.

If you never hear from me again, you know why.
Nooo bugs ruin that game. :( I liked the world adventures or whatever it was expansion, but ugh, so many glitches.

:( I gave a beggar kid my banana lunch one time and then he threw it to the ground. Was hungry that I considered taking it but it was on the streets where people are looking so I just walked away sad and hungry. :'(

@Sherazad: You have encountered a human child working for a syndicate of illegal nature, then, akin to 'child labor'. My maternal parent had also encountered a similar child, who approached her in her four-wheeled "Civilian Autonomous Retrieval" Unit - or 'car' - and stuck his hand out for monetary request.

Somewhat hyper-aware that these spawnlings will just forward any earnings to their infernal masters, fueling some dark plot to deprive fellow humans or banking facilities of money, she presented instead a sandwich, personally made by herself with two slices of bread, tuna spread, lettuce and tomato. Sacrificing her sole survival-based comestible, she had hoped that the child would use the sandwich as a way to survive for at least a quarter of a day.

Surprisingly similar to your situation, the mewling pre-adolescent hurled the delicious foodstuff towards the concrete pavement, where no doubt insects and bacteria will prove to be more grateful than he would ever be. Further, in a show of utter temerity, the brat stuck his hand out towards her once more, as if under the assumption that she would provide something else in the order of 'coins' or 'bills'. With a look devoid of emotion by this point, my maternal parent engaged the closure of the car's windows and drove on, possibly hoping that the wheels of the transportation unit made crushing contact with the brat's feet as she did so(though this last part may just be my own conjecture at this point).

This event, however, has reinforced my personal advice of bringing a small supply of comestibles, to gauge whether a human - especially a child - looking for alms was truly seeking them for him or herself, or for an organization of dubious nature.

TL;DR: Kid begged for money, mum gave sandvich, little babby brat kid threw down sandwich with one hand and begged with the other. Mum drove away in disgust.

  • Found some maybe-useful housing postings on Craigslist today, which is the first I've felt optimistic about my upcoming cross-country move in weeks.

It's beginning to sink in that I've nothing left to do university-wise apart from waiting for results and graduation, so I've been feeling very spare today.

Just got a text inviting me for a picnic up the Heath, because the weather's finally lovely and now I feel great! Dinner in the woods, feeding the ducks, and coming back to catch up with Achaea without the guilt, hurray!

Edit to add: Omg my hedgehog's been invited too! :D

It's Thursday. Snagged the last, small, Carbonara for lunch. Tomorrow is going to be a half day of work and the weekend is a long one.

Also turns out that my boss's ex-wife's brother is visiting soon and he offered to fix the paneling on the back of my car for a quarter of the local costs. Which is fantastic since it would normally cost twice what my car is even worth.

Game of Thrones has me :O and the next episode needs to come out already.

Edit: Cute plumber person in the office that I haven't seen in 6 months.

    Yesterday was my birthday.

I was touched to be so lovingly reminded by my friends of the fleeting nature of youth and our dire helplessness in the face of inescapable oblivion.

I was tired before I started my volunteer shift today and am exhausted now-- the killer allergies and lingering cold did not help. The first pallet of cardboard boxes I unloaded and took apart had the lids shoved into the bottoms, thus making my job three times as difficult and four times as slow. It took me all the way until the break we get halfway through to finish, and the slow pace meant I couldn't work fast enough to meet demand.

The pallet of boxes I received after break turned out to be infested with beetles and spiders. I spent most of the rest of the time carefully taking them apart (did not want to put a hand or foot into the box without being able to see inside), removing their unlucky denizens, cutting the boxes down, and recycling them.

The 15 minute break was spent talking with a really cute boy who came here from Japan on some kind of school trip, and whose mildly broken English made him even cuter. He was also the one who started talking to me, not vice versa.

    Day = redeemed.

Similar experiences. 2gal tank and a betta (with a snail for cleaning (hey! They have armour!)) usually worked for me. until I went to clean the tank and Fiona the Fish jumped OUT OF THE NET AND INTO THE DISPOSAL. Stupid fish.

Currently, I have a goldfish that I won from Oktoberfest. He'll be three in September. His name is Sushi. His counterpart, Sashimi, died just before the Christmas before this past Christmas (cross-eyed yet?), so sadly, he did not live to see the palatial 2.5 gallon tank with the colour-changing LED light. Sushi is living like Gatsby, and offers hours of entertainment for my cats.

  • Finally, it's June, and there's only 14 days left before I graduate. Next week is all finals (so I'm probably not going to be on Achaea all weekend), but the good thing is that all those days are half-days. Granted there's going to be a lot of studying involved, but its finally almost over. All I need to do is find a good part-time job for the summer and I'll be set.

What a game!  Well executed on both sides.  But SPURS TAKE GAME ONE ON THE ROAD!

edit: Wearing my ratty ass 2005 championship shirt for the opener paid off, once again!  It will be worn next for the closeout game!
