Heading to Dallas on Saturday for the week for work and just bought tickets to see the Rangers on Monday night. Quite looking forward to my first ever US sporting venue. Not sure how they are going to translate the LBW rule though...
and do I bring tea and cucumber sandwiches or are they provided?
After a few months of serious upheaval (weeks in the hospital, temporary shelter, moving way too much), I have an apartment, furniture(! like so much joy right now because I'll be sleeping on an actual bed instead of an airbed tonight), an awesome job which aside from the terrible pay and commute might be my favorite FT job I've ever had, Paratransit, a totally new city to explore (with decent public transit), and some pretty amazing new friends. Classes start this week and I think I've exhausted my last Arabic scholarships but now I can afford the relatively cheap tuition because of aforementioned job. I'm TAing a fun class. I passed my first teaching certification exam and will take my second in November. Things are starting to settle down and looking up considerably besides.
And I have internet so more Achaea time is coming, once I recover from work/commute/putting furniture together.
Got offered a scholarship at the university I auditioned at and didn't die from vomiting last weekend. Also raised a bit over a hundred quid from my last gig for Hughes syndrome charity and my band is gaining from traction.
Just got back from a great party and heres to following the dream ))) muusiic
6 weeks ago I decided to change my daily routine and head to the gym. After an ACL reconstruction I was struggling to run more than 5 minutes without breaking down. I've been working on cardio and leg strength with a view to giving running another shot. Today at the hotel I thought I'd just jump on the treadmill and see how I got on with jogging pace. I just did 1hr without breaking stride, without changing pace and without stopping. 4.12 miles (6.63km) and I tell you what, I feel fucking super human at the moment.

@Sobriquet A picture of yourself at the game holding a plaid thermos of tea is required.
I've brought teabags and a flask in my luggage, let's see what I can do...
Ok. Well, they confiscated my thermos flask at the gate so I didn't manage to get a photo although might post my selfie later in the pics thread. Game got interesting in the 4th and we got to see a homer but we ended up leaving at the bottom of the 6th. It was great to experience it but doubt I'll be rushing to head back. I think I've actually found a game more pedestrian than cricket.
It's been ticked off my bucket list and I have an over expensive hat to prove it.

So many good things to rave about. The new job is going so amazingly well, it's ineradicable to be a part of a company that actually appreciates the IT team and don't look at them as a drain on money. If anything, any time I make a recommendation for hardware, I feel guilty and try to ease up on the cost because I'm so used to working in the other way, being told that it's too expensive and to go back and make it cheaper.
My diploma course is going along well. After initially failing the exam, I've finally passed my microsoft 70-410 exam and am on my way to being MCSA certified.
Picked up some really cheap flights to Japan next year, with free return flights, so my partner and I are planning our first trip away together in April next year.
Rave rave rave rave rave
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my hounds!
Krenim: Hounds? How cliche.
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my rape gorilla!
i just visited the Hiroshima peace gardens. It is the most horrifying and depressing place I have ever visited. I recommend the experience though I shed tears.

I can heartily agree. I was choking back tears reading the stories particularly when it came to the children.
